Shaun King Adjusts Tune On Blount

August 13th, 2012

Much like how the New Schiano Order gave players a clean slate when the regime began this winter, it seems former Bucs quarterback and current NBC Sports Network analyst Shaun King has a new attitude toward LeGarrette Blount.

In December, King predicted Blount would not be on the 2012 Bucs roster because of his deficiencies on third down, work ethic and he was “one offseason from getting fat.” Now King seems to be a cheerleader in Blount’s corner.

“I think I’m on the other side of the coin when it comes to LeGarrette Blount. I think he’s a lot more talented than people give him credit for,” King said. “And I think this year Buc Nation’s going to get an opportunity to see his abilities. You look at last year, when given the opportunity he was outstanding.”

King, one of only three quarterbacks to lead the Bucs to the NFC Championship game, went on to do defend Blount’s deficiencies in short yardage, despite his size and strength. “I think that’s something that you develop as a runner. You think he came from a spread-type system in Oregon where they never really were in a heavy three-tight end, fullback, tailback” set, King said, adding that the entire team’s short-yardage mindset will change under Greg Schiano’s commitment to being physical.

Blount is leaner and I do like that, but I also want to see better pass pro and decisiveness at the hole on a consistent basis.

  2. Brad Says:

He changed his tune cause he was dead wrong and fired because he had such a negative tude about the Bucs, ( this is my opinion)
watch out Ian your next. I don’t mind opinions for or against but these 2 are so negative about the Bucs I can’t, could’nt, stand to listen anymore. Thank God there is a new local station to listen too.

Joe’s cool that you express outrage at Bucs-related stuff. In fact, Joe encourages all posters to bring the passion. But outright lies are not cool. Shaun King was not fired by CBS Radio.

  4. Bobby Says:

That’s like Beckles. I long for the day that he is gone. Can’t stand to listen to all the negative crap he spews about the Bucs every day. Who knows….he may post on this site as ‘Thomas 2.2′.

And that is called a John Kerry flip flop…

King is a blowhard never was. Sick of Ian too.

Take a cue from Steve White, Lynch and Booger. Try not be so full of yourselves.

BTW, Blount is responding to the coaching staff and earning his place on this roster.

    _______________

Right or wrong, sometimes people don’t want to be beaten over the head with ONLY negativity. Stop trying to justify it.

Well at least he admitted his mistake, most people in this county and site won’t do so. Hope he’s right about Blount; I like him.

  12. Miguel Grande Says:

I think Blount clearly outplayed Martin, who looked average.

50 passing attempts and not a single sack? Wow! How disruptive?

Tannehill looked very impressive, I believe the Dolphins hit the mother lode with that pick.

Just every time is all. The Bucs shut the Dolphins out Monday for the first half and it’s “I don’t see any defense at all.” All the comments were about how the Fins had a new coach etc. and that’s why they were bad but no mention of how we have a completely new staff top to bottom and came out and kicked their butts 20-7. Do we realize it’s just a pre-season game? Of course we do but unlike you we manage to look for the positives instead of the negatives. Then you start to rag on McCoy because he’s not mean enough off the field??? You have to realize that people are sick of listening to your negative crap. Keep it up though. Dan Sileo needs a room mate.

Im not justifying anything, I asked a question. I ask again what was Ian wrong about when it concerns the Bucs.

Being a Negative Nancy has nothing to do with right or wrong.

    .
    Yes. Always.

  16. Brad Says:

@joe.. I dont know what happened to Shaun on the radio that’s why I said in my opinion he was fired for being negative. So how am I lying when I said its an opinion?

  17. Joe Says:

    Brad:

Throwing out how a local public figure was fired from his job with zero evidence is not just reckless and irresponsible, it’s how false rumors begin to spread like wildfire.

It is Joe who is responsible for the content — and comments — on this site.

Most opinions are based on a piece of information or evidence. You had none. You just threw it up on the wall to see if it stuck.
