Nothing In Return For Briscoe?

July 26th, 2012

One of the somewhat odd things about the release of Dezmon Briscoe was the fact the Bucs couldn’t/didn’t find a willing trade partner for his services.

Briscoe has a load of potential at 22 years old and caught six touchdowns last season.

Perhaps the Briscoe move was more of an impromptu decision than many believe? Surely, if the Bucs wanted him out after he skipped OTA days, they had ample time to deal him.

It’s an interesting mystery, one Joe suspects will become a Bucs X file.

If it wasn’t a secret to us that the Bucs were going to get rid of him for his offseason shenanigans the rest of the league knew that too. Tough to try and trade someone when everyone knows they’re going to be gone sooner or later.

Or maybe the rest of the league thinks he’s a knucklehead too.

Plenty of guys get traded even if teams know they have you over a barrel. They should have kept him a while and then dealt him before opening day. Bad move.

  3. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

An unproductive guy on a losing team that all the other teams knew would be cut…of course we got nothing.

This one goes out to Thomas, the foremost resident “Joe never puts the squeeze on Dominik” honk of these here parts!!

  5. Hunter Says:

Probably because he’s a WR that is expected to easily pass the conditioning test, which, I’m guessing, he failed.

Remember all that fuss about Dom paying more for him from cincinattis practice squad. What a hoot.

  7. OptimisTroll Says:

I doubt most teams are willing to give up much for a 5th- string wideout with issues that came from a losing team. Maybe like a cooler of Gatorade or something. Easier just to cut him.

You guys must be insane. Dez Briscoe has the potential of being a #1 or #2 WR one day. He’s young, dumb, but very talented. This move was made to make a statement. We dont care how good you are. If you cant commit to the team full-time, buy in to what we are selling, then you too can let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!

  13. Paul Says:

He should get some playing time at Washington. Interested to see what happens with him and RG3.

Is there a way to see how many teams that tried to get him on waivers? Might could’ve gotten something for him after all.
