Dezmon Briscoe Released

July 26th, 2012

Dezmon Briscoe has been evicted for the second time

Dezmon Briscoe missed optional OTA practices under the New Schiano Order, and now he’s been cut.

You do the math.

Joe is hardly surprised. Briscoe just wasn’t the new kind of Buccaneer Man, too busy with baby-mama drama made public on Twitter and a third-rate reality show.

Amazingly, Briscoe was evicted from his Westshore area apartment during the 2011 season. Eviction proceedings began in September and concluded uncontested in October, per Hillsborough County civil court records.

Good luck, young Mr. Briscoe, who is still just 22 years old. Joe hopes you can discover responsibility with your next team.

90 players allowed to the roster. We all saw this coming. Would of been nice to make sure we get through the preseason without injuries prior to releasing and trading some talent.

  2. Jimmy Says:

Did Briscoe owe the Bucs back rent, too?

  3. robert Says:

this just makes me smile! really though, who’s left thats “not bought in” to the system. I like it. i like it a lot!

  4. ben Says:

i would of liked to think we could of at least got a 7th rounder for him, i suppose they tried to move him first than just cut him though. kid had potential but i saw this comming a mile away after his escapades

  5. Bane Says:

He will be on another team in 24 hours
Kid has loads of talent and had best hands on the team last 2 years

  6. AtlBucsFan Says:

We all know people that waste the God given talent they have. Briscoe is one of them. All the best in your future endeavors.

  7. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Briscoe is irresponsible and Talib isn’t?

  8. BucsFan007 Says:

    Timing is everything.
Ya think Schiano knew he was gonna do this much much earlier …. but decided this card would best be played the first day of camp ?
    Take notice. Perhaps.

  9. james Says:

hey cuz you can always try out for survivor, big brother, the bacheloure,(ett) or what ever your hearts desire. now that you truely are committed at bieng uncommitted shouldn’t be a problem. oh if i had only gone to ota’s then the hammer would not have fallen as in greg the hammer schiano! well look on the bright side dez, terrell owens has a spot for you on his new team, there name is woulda coulda shoulda beens!!! all your potential and not one bit of self discepline or motivation for your new coach, team mates or for the fans that were rooting and pulling for you. in the words of one of my personal favorites in the music industry that you will probally hear all to often. hit the road jack and don’t you come back no more

  10. Joe Says:

    Thomas:

Briscoe is irresponsible and Talib isn’t?

    In a word, yes.

  11. kh Says:

How on earth do you get evicted from an apartment when you make over $300k per year?

  12. Kennedy Says:

You don’t pay the bill because you don’t feel like it.

  13. Macabee Says:

They also cut Devin Holland and signed LB Thomas Williams from the Panthers.

  14. Joe Says:

    They also cut Devin Holland

    GASP!

  15. Thomas 2.2 Says:

How many arrests, suspensions, lawsuits, failed drug tests (pre draft), injuring teammates, attacking officials, punching citizens while drunk and on and on before you will be objective about a player?

Briscoe appears to be chasing fame off the field more than on it, and I think that is dumb. But Briscoe is no horrible person like Talib.

  16. Lion Says:

Thomas: You are pathetic, you fall into the camp that people are guilty until proven innocent. How un-American and disgraceful is that. What gives you the right to judge Talib? You don’t know him personally, and I would bet you have never even met him in your entire life. You just believe everything you hear don’t you? How pathetic.

One thing is certain, Talib comes to work and is dedicated to playing football. On the other hand, Briscoe clearly thinks his baby mamma drama comes before football and doesn’t think he has to practice with the team. Bye bye Briscoe, you won’t be missed.

  17. BigMacAttack Says:

No more Baby Mama Drama. Good one Joe.

Never a dull moment with Thomas. You’re killing me T.

  18. Hawaiian Buc Says:

This regime is clearly not playing any games. Wow!

  19. BigMacAttack Says:

I’m so fired up for the Season. I’m not surprised by this, although Briscoe was a pretty decent WR, just didn’t seem to have his head in the game.

Wow, Is there a new Sheriff in town or what?

Quincy Jane better get it together and quick or adios MF’r

  20. thomas two point two Says:

Didn’t Joe once praise DomDom for pilfering the talented Briscoe from the Bengals practice squad or something to that effect?

  21. ben Says:

saying accountability and enforcing and following through are two different things. i love it, even if one of them make the probowl by some far chance it can still be the right move. it doesnt matter if you are young or hungry, are you here? are you sold to be a part of the team? are you where you are suppose to be when you are suppose to be?

  22. raphael Says:

All good signs Bucs are getting better. # Shiano

Great Job with the info Joe !

  23. Ryan rich Says:

So today LeGrand retired we traded price for a draft pick and released briscoe so in all we gained three roster spots

  24. raphael Says:

Joe , keep up the good work. I will be in Laos and Bandung indonesia (shariah law in effect).. next month and will be in internet cafe”s checking your site . GO BUCS

  25. Mike J Says:

”…just didn’t seem to have his head in the game… says BigMacAttack. Yes, that seems to have been the case. Too bad; I liked the guy’s play.

  26. BigMacAttack Says:

LOL! Actually Briscoe was pretty good in the games, their TD leader. My use of the word “Game” was a poor choice because his distractions seemed to peak after the season. I may need to hire Thomas2 as a tutor. I should have said he needed to pull his head out of his A$$ instead.

  27. Paul Says:

He’s a beast. Too bad Schiano wouldn’t put in the time on him.

  28. DallasBuc Says:

I suspect that coach is thinning out the competition at WR to help ensure his guy Underwood from Rutgers will make the team. Nobody can say that Briscoe doesn’t have the talent, experience or stats to at least compete for a roster spot on this team. First Jackson, then price and now briscoe. I don’t like it and I suspect dominik doesn’t either. Sure seems like Schiano is calling the shot around one buc. Something smells here and has definitely put a damper on my excitement for the start of this season.

  29. Paul Says:

Good call Dallas. He’s taking care of his Rutgers people. Brisco has tons of talent. A good coach should be able to help focus players like him. His “mentor” Billicheat does it often. This move weakens our team.

  30. Joe Says:

    two point two:

Didn’t Joe once praise DomDom for pilfering the talented Briscoe from the Bengals practice squad or something to that effect?

Yeah, for a scrap heap guy Briscoe was great. Last few months football was a cumbersome burden for him (as was, it appears, paying rent).

Schiano cutting Briscoe is as surprising as a Karlos Pena strikeout.

  31. Paul Says:

Let a promising player get s-canned during roster cuts and they still have Schiano’s “son” on the roster. I’ll seriously consider canceling my season tickets.

  32. Joe Says:

    Paul:

Briscoe blew off more offseason workouts than he attended.

Not a smart move with a new, no-BS coach on board.

Schiano didn’t cut Briscoe just because Briscoe wore the wrong cologne.

  33. kh Says:

can it Paul, if you’re pissed about Briscoe getting cut you haven’t been paying attention at all this off-season about what a jackass he’s been. Schiano was never going to tolerate that.

  34. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

I will never forgive the rest of you for putting me in this position…but now I must defend some things Thomas said…and also disagree with Joe. Darn it.

    Thomas 2.2 Says:
Briscoe is irresponsible and Talib isn’t?

    Joe Says:
    In a word, yes.

I predicted the Brisco cut when he didn’t show up. I also said that Talib would not be on the final roster. It’s looking like I was wrong on Talib, but for Joe to claim Aqib is not irresponsible is way out there.

Hopefully Schiano can improve Talib but so far as we all have seen he is still irresonsible. He’s made enough mistakes to have to prove himself now, don’t you think?

  35. Eric Says:

Are we a better team minus Winslow, Price, and Briscoe?

    Time will tell.

  36. Architek Says:

I was at a well-known gym here in Dallas and I met Desmond’s first cousin because he saw that I was the only person in the gym workingout with Buccaneers gear on. He mentioned that Desmond had been trying to get on track and he really wanted to have a good season.

Too bad for him. Tv doomed him along with too much drama.

  37. Lion Says:

    Paul,

Schiano is a coach, not a baby sitter.

  38. So. Ill. Bucs Says:

I don’t know if I was the only one to notice, but in the Freeman/Eisen interview, while listing his receivers, Josh omitted Briscoe. Seems like he knew what was gonna happen.

  39. BigMacAttack Says:

    Hmmm???

Let’s see here…. maybe Briscoe failed a pee test,
or maybe refused the 16/110’s or whined about it and stopped running,
or maybe he was seriously out of shape and failed his physical.

More news on this should come out in time.

  40. Nick2 Says:

Maybe he can sell the tv network executives on a new reality show “Being Cut by the NFL”. It features a gifted athelete with no brain.
