“Wrap And Roll. Sweep The Ankle.”

June 11th, 2012

Another great video churned out today on Buccaneers.com that doesn’t say much but offers a glimpse inside Greg Schiano’s world. Click the link to take a look.

Joe knows many fans will enjoy seeing Schiano give Quincy Black a tackling lesson. “Wrap and roll. Sweep the ankle.”

Also, the video offers a look into what appears to be Schiano’s office. For those Bucs-obsessed like Joe, it’s interesting to note Schiano doesn’t seem to have any photos around, there’s a big Rutgers logo on a notebook in the bookcase, and the coach — surprisingly — seems to have a messy desk. C’mon, Coach. “Details. Details.”

  1. BigMacAttack Says:

Many great minds have messy desks. Albert Einstein was one of the worst culprits, but like William F. Buckley, he knew exactly where everything was. It is a sign of being able to balance multiple situations and not filing a task away until it is completed and all problems are solved. If you have ever seen the desk of the idiot who resides in the Whitehouse, it is empty just like his head. He reserves the use of the People’s Resolute Desk for propping up his feet and signing unconstitutional Executive Orders. The guy is a total POS and I can’t wait to give him his walking papers very soon.

  2. Ladyz Says:

One of my favorite quotes,”A clean desk is a sign of a sick mind.”

  3. Meh Says:

Take the politics out of here. What a ridiculous, offensive comment.

  4. Bucfever40 Says:

Yea I checked this video out a couple months ago, it totally showed how precise Schiano is with the smallest of details, he stresses the basics and it’s THAT in which they lost late last year…..from this point forward, I doubt very seriously that attention to detail will be a problem with this team.

  5. Macabee Says:

    BigMac,

Proceed at your own risk, but be forewarned. Ted Nugent shot his mouth off about the man in the whitehouse and he got an uncomfortable visit from the black suits. And as you know everybody, but everybody reads JoeBucsFan!

  6. Eric Says:

My desk is a complete disaster. Actually there was a study done years ago that established no correlation between clean desk and productivity. I used to keep a copy of the study in my desk so nobody gave me a hard time – until I lost it.

Thats cause us messy deskers know where everything important is located.

That info makes me feel better about Greg. Now, if he just forgets where his car is parked and has some empty soda cans and candy wrappers in the back seat, hes on his way to grand success.

  7. adam ant Says:

Bucfever40 – I highly doubt you watched this video a couple of months ago. This video has only been up for a week or so. What do you gain by lying about something like that. Strange.

  8. ClayBURN94 Says:

To be honest I just the video come up today and i visit the bucs website everyday. This was a great video and it really got me fired up for this season. This offseason couldnt take any longer!

  9. Miguel Grande Says:

“The guy is a total POS and I can’t wait to give him his walking papers very soon.”

I don’t think that was as threatening as Ted Nugent’s statement but its a good start. I personally love the smell politics in the morning, smells like………….victory!

  10. Theodore Says:

Funny you connected Ted Nugent with stuff that smells. Search “Ted Nugent” and “draft” one day.

  11. thomas 2.2 Says:

    Back to football:

Our prior coaching staff emphasized the “Wrap And Roll” as well and Tanard Jackson mastered it!

  12. thomas 2.2 Says:

    On the political front:

I agree POTUS has been a disaster but just consider the alternative – it seems like a choice between Raheem Morris and Ray Perkins!

  13. BigMacAttack Says:

Thanks Macabee. I love Uncle Ted. he’s one of the few guys that has more guns than I do. If I happened to offend anyone with my comment, I don’t apologize because you are too stupid to know how bad the jerk is screwing us. I just started on the desk thing, because mine is a revolving mess. My main desk is 10′ x 4′ and my wrap arounds are 30′ x 3′, all Black Galaxy Granite. Walls are Pewter and Red. I’m total Buc-ing mess. Not bad for a Mac Burger Flipper. Every time I see our buddy in DC with his feet on the Resolute Desk, like I did again the other day, it just peeves me to no end how low class he is. He has no idea what that desk means or probably where it came from, not to mention he’s just renting it and it doesn’t belong to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has even written or doodled on it. Within 30 days of him getting the boot, I’ll hire at least 25 people. If not, 4 more years of sitting on my hands and drinking Busch.

Joe, sorry if I offended yous guys, which I’m sure I didn’t.

  14. BigMacAttack Says:

Thomas, have you been watching Veep? She’s a real mess, isn’t she? But she is cute and came for the Larry David tree. I love that guy.

  15. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @BigMacAttack

When the POTUS is jerking you, do you you clean up after?

  16. Meh Says:

Just stfu with the politics. This is a football blog.

Just stop. Go someplace else for that.

  17. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    Wait; my bad.
    When he is screwing you…?

  18. Theodore Says:

@MAC – I’m sure you thought W and Ford were “low class” too for putting their feet on the same desk, right?

Guess that makes Bubba the classy one when it comes to Oval Office desk manners 😉

  19. George Says:

BigMacAttack, keep your ignorant political comments to yourself. This board is for football.

  20. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

    Great Video.

    SEASON PREDICTION
Dakota Watson will do much, much better this year. During his first two years, he spent most of his time on special teams. Toward the end of last season he got to play a small amount of DE. This year, he’ll get more opportunities.

While the Bucs have Michael Bennett to fill in for Bowers at the moment, the truth is the position is wide open now. Expect Watson to make the most of it.

  22. BigMacAttack Says:

Haha, I’m not leaving. I was on this blog before each and every one of you. So I bashed the Emperor of the US. Who cares? I don’t do it very often and when Joe tells me to leave I will. Until then, all you libs can prepare for defeat. Keep bringing it up and I will too. Show me a pic with W’s feet on that desk, please, or any other President other than the new Idiot in chief.

@Thomas, I loved the wrap and roll comment. Great job.

  23. BigMacAttack Says:

I see the pic, now I’m really mad. Barbara should have spanked him for that. W totally knows better.

  24. Meh Says:

I didn’t tell you to leave. I told you to dtick to football. There are plenty of places to go talk politics. Go there and stick to the Bucs stuff here.

  25. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

    Meh is right.

  26. BigMacAttack Says:

Okay Meh, I’ll stop. Sorry to offend you.
    How bout them Bucs?

  27. BigMacAttack Says:

Pete, fogetaboutit. I won’t do anything that you tell me to do. Hows that new book coming?

  28. BKNYfootballhead Says:

Reagan liked working hard at the desk, too.

  29. Meh Says:

Don’t agree with every move, but likung the new direction. Was very skeptical of the Schiano hire, but so far I really like him. Hoping it translates to wins !

  30. BigMacAttack Says:

I think GMC is going to have his best year with 12 Sacks, 5 FF’s, & 10 TFL’s.

Thomas, you here that son? GMC is going to make your head explode.

  31. Meh Says:

BKNY, please drop it now. Let’s fight about the Bucs instead!

  32. Meh Says:

Really want to see McCoy play a full year. High hopes for him still but he’s got to stay on the field or it won’t matter.

  33. BigMacAttack Says:

Okay Yankee. Great picture of Ronnie. I saved it. Nothing disrespectful about that. There was no internet in the 80’s because Al Gore hadn’t invented it yet. A president shout read the news and that was all good. Rays in first place.

  34. BKNYfootballhead Says:

Eating is a sign of respect?

    Eat your words, BigMac.

    @Meh, I’m done now.

  35. Heath Says:

Will Romney push the NFL to get rid of of socialist policies like the salary cap and draft?

  36. Blackmagic00 Says:

Hey Joe, off topic but, is this forum on tapatalk? and if not can you add it to tapatalk? I’ve been on your forum since the Gruden days and read it several times a day everyday. I would post a lot more but I live at work on my Android phone and it can be a pain to post over the mobile browser. Tapatalk makes it a breeze. Thanks and GOOO BUCS!!!

  37. BigMacAttack Says:

As a Libertarian, I’m not overly fond of him either.

The Salary Cap is a good thing. Look at the Monster Mess Steinbrenner created. The Draft is also a good thing and more fair than the NBA or NHL lottery system. Look at how the 4’th place team in the NBA is choosing first. The NFL system works well. Think how out of control Free Agency would be if Danny Snider could spend $500 Mil on players every year. He’s still have a hard time with the Pats, but things could get lopsided really quick. Money ball won’t work in the NFL like it does in baseball.

  38. Miguel Grande Says:

Wish I could go to Tampa for the Ron Paul victory party. Go Bucs! Wrap and roll? Sounds like rock and roll.

  39. Eric Says:

I am thinking Joe’s desk has burrito supreme wrappers……….next to the empty beer bottles.

  40. Chris FWC Says:

LOL Sweep the ankle! Gawd #58 sucks out loud.

and what is ron paul gunna win? LOL!

Our next prez is Mit, like it or not.

  41. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I live in Redneck Brandon/Seffner where everyone claims to be a conservative, LOL
Yet, when I ask them to sign their Social Security check over to me, they refuse.
These retired Rednecks where I live will cling to their Social Security Checks, and don’t want to hear the truth, that Social Security IS Socialism!
TRUE Conservatives are against any form of Socialism.
This is sort of like a girl going to Church on Sunday and talking in tongues, after walking Nebraska ave in Tampa all weekend.

These pseudo conservatives are quite annoying to me. They talk the talk, yet don’t walk the walk.

  42. Tristan Berry Says:

I’m about as political as one can get, but I don’t come here for that. (Can’t wait to send Obama packing, though, and that’s all I’m gonna say about it unless poked).

That being said, I couldn’t be happier about the way things are going at the Palace. Win or lose, I feel with a great sense of conviction that I won’t have to embarrassed to be a Bucs fan or feel like I have to apologize for supporting a mess like we put on the field last year. I wanted to like Raheem, but that was just God-awful.

  43. GuitarGuy Says:

Bucfever40 is referring to the link on this page –

Scroll down to a link that refers to an instructional video called “Greg Schiano Defensive Fundamentals.”

This was posted on the day we learned that Schiano would be hired. Click the “sample videos” link for a 5 minute excerpt of Schiano teaching the *details* of defensive/tackling fundamentals.

gotta get Sensei Kreese in here to teach this pansy Quincy how to effectively sweep the leg. worked pretty well for Johnny until he ran into a well trained Daniel San. Show no mercy.

@Mac – Re: Photo of W. Kudos. You didn’t display a common trait in political discourse, hypocrisy. Good for you.

  46. Northend Says:

  47. AfroBuc Says:

The folks in marketing and PR are doing a nice job selling the team now. I’m excited about the new coach and eager to see how this translates to game day performances.

  48. RustyRhino Says:

Hey BIGMAC did you fall and hit your head and think it is February 27, 2008?
Because there have been as you put it

” If you have ever seen the desk of the idiot who resides in the Whitehouse, it is empty just like his head. He reserves the use of the People’s Resolute Desk for propping up his feet and signing unconstitutional Executive Orders. ”
There where Several Unconstitutional Executive Orders signed on the People’s Resolute Desk that wiped the country’s arse with the constitution. Treasonous Orders. Remember?….
Yeah you must have hit your head, as a Libertarian you should Know these fine principals.

“Libertarians believe the answer to America’s political problems is the same commitment to freedom that earned America its greatness: a free-market economy and the abundance and prosperity it brings; a dedication to civil liberties and personal freedom; and a foreign policy of non-intervention, peace, and free trade as prescribed by America’s founders.”

Sweet Desk you have from the sound of it.
Wrap & Roll & Sweep the Trash under the Rug
    Go Bucs!

  49. BigMacAttack Says:

Hey Rusty, you are one of my favorite posters, true fan for sure. I used to read some of your stuff on Fox Sports. I was on a rant, a little out of control, and just fed up for the most part. I agree with your definitions, and the desk is just one small symptom of many, not really a deal breaker for me. I care more about the policies and spending, lies and deceit. I’m not here to defend Bush, the right is more where I reside, but too many republicans are just holier than thou, and talk out of both sides of their mouth. What is the lessor of the two evils? Let people do as they please, drugs, marriage, smoke, whatever, I just don’t want to pay for it.

Unfortunately, I have wood floors, so no where to hide the garbage. We built the desks like a a double horse shoe ( or a “W” lol). I have concrete poured (in sonotube) columns at about 8′ on center (painted black) with 1″ x 2″ tube steel framing under the 2 cm tops so they are all open below and you can’t see the recessed framing. Big desks are real expensive and I built all this for very little because my buddy has a large granite top facility.

  50. RustyRhino Says:

Hey, BigMac let it OUT brother, never good to keep it in! LOL! That is what they keep telling me anyway.

“What is the lessor of the two evils? ” And this to me is what really sucks about the whole process.

Yes fox sports, PR, and several others all me.

Yeah having a bud in the trade is always smooth sailing., (mostly smooth)
