Schiano Sails Fastball Way Over Target

June 1st, 2012
“Anybody else realize the seams on this are at least one millimeter off?”

The leader of the New Schiano Order took to the Tropicana Field mound to toss out the first pitch at the Rays-Orioles game tonight. Sadly, reports on the Rays official website claim Greg Schiano threw a screamer that went far over guest catcher Joe Maddon’s head and to the backstop.

Earlier in the day on Pro Football Talk Live, Schiano said he was “going to throw my high cutter and see if it won’t come down over the plate.” Apparently, Schiano’s mechanics were off.

Joe was a bit surprised Schiano didn’t don a Rays jersey or at least a Rays hat for the festivities, as Raheem Morris and other Bucs players have done previously when bestowed the same honor.

As you can see in the photo, Schiano stuck with his Bucs polo.

    That is a great caption.

  6. OptimisTroll Says:

It was probably because the Trop was not at 71.3 degree Fahrenheit.

OK! Who’s running the creative captions department?

He threw it “High and Tight”

    Oh man! or Omen

    +1 for caption, great!

  9. Jessup Says:

I’m glad he wore Bucs apparel. It says “Thanks for letting me through your little ball and all, but I’m still 100% Buccaneer”

    Baseball sucks.

  10. Bucs4Life Says:

Especially being a new head coach…many people in the area probably don’t even know who he is. He went all out on his throw but missed the target, something tells me that is the kind of effort he can work with from his players, ha!

  11. HFXBUC Says:

He hates the Rays. He’s a Yankee fan an wearing the rays garb would be sacrilegious.

  12. Thomas2.2 Says:

Joe says – he is surprised that Schiano didn’t wear Rays gear like ridiculed and exiled coach RahRah Morris.

Whatever RahRah did, just do the opposite and you will be successful. So far Schiano is the anti-Raheem. Thank goodness.

For RG3’s sake, Shanahan better institute a policy that RahRah and THC are not allowed to speak to RG3 so RahRah doesn’t ruin him.

Better to sail one to the backstop than lob a limp chimp two hopper IMO…

“Joe says – he is surprised that Schiano didn’t wear Rays gear like ridiculed and exiled coach RahRah Morris.” LOL!!! I thought Thomas had run out of adjectives to describe Morris but he continues to hit the Thesaurus at every opportunity and find new ways to express his disdain, contempt, scorn, hatred, loathing, and dislike for all things Raheem. Too funny!

Lets hope he can coach better than he can throw.

    Forgot to bite.

  17. Patrick Says:

Has Obama been giving him pitching lessons?

  18. RastaMon Says:

this will appear next year editted into Sundays game tape…..

  19. St Augustine Says:

Bobby, if that was Thomas’ intentions then who can blame him? “Coach Rah” was boozin in up every time ~ very upsetting being a head coach and all. I like Raheem Morris as a person, but the way he conducted himself as a coach in this regards was very disheartening.

Schiano looks like he’s lost about 10 lbs in the Florida heat already.
