Lubricants Fueling Gerald McCoy

May 2nd, 2012

Joe’s been known to appreciate what a good lubricant can provide on occasion, but it seems Gerald McCoy is making daily use of them and recommending them to his fans.

Out on the Twitterverse, McCoy, aka @Geraldini93, is singing their praises.

“Multi-Vitamins and fish oils everyday to fuel and lubricate the muscles and joints. Much needed people. Try it. It’s worth it. Promise!!”

Joe puts this out there as it seems McCoy has enhanced his training regimen to include these supplements, probably more, too. No harm there. If a few milligrams of cold water sardine oil will keep him lubed up and more flexible, maybe they’ll overcome the Pop Warner fudamentals that killed his 2011 season and likely led to the jettisoning of Raheem Morris.

Joe joins the legions of Bucs fans hoping/praying McCoy can transform from part-time patient to full-time force.

Now everyone in my office wants to know why i busted out laughing.

And im supposed to be working!

    Thanks a lot Joe!

  3. Snook Says:

Two years already in the league and he’s just now figuring that out?

    Wow.

  4. Jarret Says:

Thank you for making us aware you like lube

  5. Trollslayer Says:

Joe- stop trying to act like you like GMC and then giving out this obvious trollbait for people to bash him. I hope for your sake GMC doesnt read this crap because then you can forget about him ever giving you the time of day.

Trollslayer – Joe posted this because he found it interesting. It’s not a sinister plot to have the same idiots bash McCoy in the comments section. The fact is only a microscopic percentage of Joe’s readers look at the comments. Also, Joe’s quite confident McCoy would have no problem with anything written here. In fact, Joe’s going to email it to McCoy right now. –Joe

  6. Trollslayer Says:

Have no fear Joe. One day you will eclipse PFT for nastiest trolls ever on an NFL comment section. Oh wait. That site is for people of opposing teams to bash each others players. So how is it that this site is almost as nasty?

  7. Miguel Grande Says:

Gerald, try a little Hemp oil, just don’t smoke it.

  8. Nick2 Says:

I think hes talking about Chondroiton and Glucosamine. Hes right the stuff works!!!! Not sure what it does for biceps muscles though 🙁

  9. Travis Says:

Joe did you just make a masturbation reference? wtf?

C’mon, Travis. Get your mind out of the gutter. –Joe

  10. jvato24 Says:

I saw the tweet … He think he followed that up with a tweet saying he was on toilet

  11. SteveK Says:

    Way to go Gerald,

We need you healthy. Please take your Flinstone Vitamins too. 🙂

  12. SteveK Says:

Good news! Gerald McCoy has been medically cleared to tweet…

  13. Karl Says:

So it was McCoy’s fault That we lost 10 in a row and “likely led to the jettisoning of Raheem Morris” ? Wow!!!! A little too much credit or blame for a 2nd year DT dont ya think?

  14. admin Says:

    Joe here,

@Karl — Actually that would be Ronde Barber who said McCoy’s injury brought on the Bucs’ defensive collapse. Here’s a link: https://www.joebucsfan.com/?p=64809

  15. ATLBuc Says:

He just tweeted a picture of himself getting a pedicure too. Speechless.

  16. BigMacAttack Says:

    Joe, you kill me.

I have actually started watching baseball this season, and its all your fault.
I still have (ADD) difficulty with 15 foul balls for a single batter, but every time I leave the room for a minute, the Rays do something good. At least I can rewind now.

  17. KJ Says:

Great, now McCoy might make it to week 8.

I doubt Price will be starting this year. We DID sign a new DT to a sizable contract.

Two years already in the league and he’s just now figuring that out?

    Wow.

    .

That’s a mighty big assumption, Snook. Most athletes know about fish oil extract before they even reach college. He made a statement. Not a discovery.

As to a couple other people’s comments…I could swear Joe owns this blog. Telling him to “stop” doing something? Bold. Or dumb. Whichever.

  19. BigBear Says:

@pete price probably will be starting because neither of the 3 techniques on the team can play the nose tackle effectively. Price has more mass and has a better time working at the NT than McCoy or Amobi

  20. Thomas2.2 Says:

    Joe,

Congrats to you for locating a picture of Gerald wearing a jersey and sweating. Must have been after they move him from the bottom to the top row of the outdoor preseason team photo. It was in the 90’s that day.

Ronde didn’t say “gerald’s injury brought on” the ten game losing streak. Ronde said he knew we would “struggle.” only you and RahRah would call a 10 game losing streak a struggle.

Ronde went on to say that Gerald had 2 good “pre-seasons” (not regular seasons) before getting hurt. Contradicts the agenda of the “disruptive” even though his stats suck contingent.

Let’s characterize the statements of others accurately. Also, I doubt all of the fish oil in the world will make Gerald worth #3 overall and 60 million. Gerald may also want to try, stop playing soft (per Sapp) and be prepared tobeat a guard physically by staying in his gap just once.

Instead of trying to time the snap to take the path of least resistance on every play even if it causes him to lose gap integrity.

There is just no way, no matter how hard Gerald tries, to make DT a purely finesse position today’s NFL.

  21. BigMacAttack Says:

I have to ask, I am I the only one here that does this? (First, today is a good day for the bone heads and dumb comments.) There are many times when I will type a comment, stop, read it, and then say “are you nuts?” There is no way I am going to submit that crap. Now there are times when I do hit submit and its too late. Now the whole Buc World knows what a dummy I am. I think there are few people here that should consider not submitting certain comments from time to time. Do as you will, but just saying….

  22. BigMacAttack Says:

    I am I???
    wtf? I did it again.

  23. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

    Bucs just released John McCargo

  24. Barry Cavey Says:

read his tweet that he was getting a pedicure. His favoriate movie is The Little Mermaid and he gets pedicures?????? I’m curious if Suh gets Pedicures….. Joe has deleted a comment that goes where this thread doesn’t need to go. –JOe

  25. RastaMon Says:

Yawn…a meanless December win over the Saints…and we are talking about Gerald….

  26. Thomas2.2 Says:

BigBear is correct – although arguably all 3 price, Okoye and Gerald are better suited as 3 techniques.

  27. SteveK Says:

Thomas says: “Congrats to you for locating a picture of Gerald wearing a jersey and sweating.”

LOL, right! I hope he can stay healthy and start developing into a Super Star.

We have a lot vested in him. 10% of this year’s cap towards this guy.

  30. SteveK Says:

Wonder if Charlie Sheen will show him the ways of Tiger Blood?

  31. Thomas2.2 Says:

I hope (and expect) that Schiano will open up the D Tackle competition. I Okoye would be starting the 3 technique if that happens.

Lets make Gerald a part-time / situational player until his contract expires / will also reduce his chances of being injured.

Or, as the brilliant Pete Dutcher previously proposed – we could make gerald a “ray lewis” style MLB. LMAOROF

  32. Have A Nice Day Says:

Glucosamine. Strengthens the heck out of your tendons and joints. Guarantee he is on that already though.

  33. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Nice Story on NBC Nightly News tonight on LeGrand and what the Bucs did.

  34. J 2.0 Says:

Dominik has been given high marks on all of his drafts. Nothing has come of it yet. I hope it all comes full circle this year. Freeman get back on track, Williams get back on track, Benn finally realize his potential, Stocker stay healthy, McCoy stay healthy, Price develop and stay healthy, Clayborn continue to develop, Bowers get 100%, Barron step in and pick it up quickly, and David do the same. Not to mention Martin and all the free agents. If everything works out perfectly, we could be legit. Maybe 2-3 years from serious Super Bowl contention.

You have me confused with someone else there. I understand though…you’re always confused.

  37. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

    And I’m not brilliant either…I’m a freaking genius. 😉

  38. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

I will say this though…I agree that our defensive line will be the weakest link on the team if the injuries happen again…unless Mark Dominick has a better backup plan than Albert Haynesworthless.

  39. teacherman777 Says:

I appreciate Gerald, A Pro, for sharing his knowledge of health and wellness.

These guys need to be taking care of themselves like Ricky Williams did.

A true winner must treat his body like a temple as Ray Lewis did.

Big ups to Gerald for getting ready!

  40. kgh4life Says:

Why is GMC even on twitting about vitamins and fish oils, he should be focusing on how he’s going to be playing in more than five games this up coming season. It seems he does more off the field than on it. I think GMC has the potential to be great player but he needs to prove it.

  41. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Why do people get so upset when an athlete tweets??? Not sure if you know this, but it is actually possible to tweet and still be a hard worker. I don’t particularly enjoy doing it, but it doesn’t mean I’m dumb enough to believe that it negatively effects an athlete (in a physical sense). By the way, he doesn’t even tweet half as much as some of the other players on this team. Get off your high horse and stop pretending as if you know what you are talking about. Hell, most of us are reading and commenting on this site WHILE at work. At least he’s tweeting while off of work. Get a grip!

  42. JA Says:

He’s also a scientist, right? Therefore, he must know the chemical composition of everything he puts in his body, right?
I think we should only listen to athletes when it comes to everything they know nothing about! Oh, that’s right, we do……..

  43. BigMacAttack Says:

    Commenting at work, I’m guilty.

I’m going on record against all of Thomas 2’s wisdom and glory and predicting that GMC will have a breakout season. He never was a sack-master so I say he’ll get about 5 or 6 sacks. But when you look back at all of his past, his strength’s were tackles for loss and disrupting plays with pressure. I believe he will do this and stay healthy. Matt Stafford had 2 terrible injury plagued seasons but bounced back to be an awesome QB. I say GMC will do the same under Schiano and become everything the Bucs hoped for. There is just too much history on him that says he is an awesome football player.

As for sacks, that will come from Calyborn, Bowers and Bennett. I’m homing that the Bucs will be a top 10 defense this year under Schiano……… and they will make the playoffs, winning the NFC South.

  44. Eric Says:

He can tweet all he wants and eat two yacks a day for all i care. Just play 16 games please.

  45. Hawaiian Buc Says:

No argument there Eric. Not sure why anyone would feel differently.

  46. Joe Says:

    teacherman777:

You mean blow off a year to go smoke dope with the Aborigines?

  47. Trollslayer Says:

Joe- Fine I get. Jokes on the trolls U\I guess. But you have to pardon me for your are one of those guys that sometimes people can’t tell your exact motivations when you speak\write. Forgive me but I understand you saw the same game changing nature of GMC when he was healthy last year and if you want to bait the trolls to embarass themselves in the face of GMC’s forthcoming keyword “if healthy” explosion next year then go ahead and line those trolls up like bowling pins.

  48. Stevek Says:

We would have made the playoffs two years ago if he stayed healthy.

I say he plays healthy all season, we make the playoffs. Yeah it could get that crazy?

  49. Stevek Says:

    Trollslayer,

Can’t speak for Joe, but that’s what makes this site so damn awesome.

Idiots equipped with strong minded opinions and speaking freely. Freedom to say what’s on your mind.

Love all of the opinions out there. Bucs def have a vast different following, And this site embodies just that.

  50. Dr J Says:

You guys realize, in order for glucosamine and chondroiton to be effective, pharmaceutical grade ( aka pure pure quality ) is only way it’s been shown to be effective and not OTC.

  51. Stevek Says:

    So GNC is a scam?

  52. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Well said SteveK. I completely agree that if we can keep most of our main players (GMC being one of them) healthy, I think we are a playoff team. I think our offense could be the best we have ever seen in Tampa, if Josh Freeman regains his form. I think the defense will be drastically improved. Our biggest weakness at this point is depth. However, we are considerably more talented this year, and should be much better coached.

  53. Hawaiian Buc Says:

“You guys realize, in order for glucosamine and chondroiton to be effective, pharmaceutical grade ( aka pure pure quality ) is only way it’s been shown to be effective and not OTC.”

    ——–

I feel so stupid right now. I literally didn’t understand any of what you just said.

  54. Stevek Says:

    Hawaiian,

Basically, the glucosamine is an over the counter supplement that is supposed to assist/lube your joints and prevent “grinding gears”.

And, Dr. J said the over the counter crap is no good and you need a prescription to get the positive effects it may provide.

Lol, let’s hope GMC is using the high test Flinstone Vitamins.

  55. eric Says:

    Baiting trolls like bowling pins?

    After the explosion?

    All over lubricant?

    Gotta love it.

  56. GenocideD Says:

I’m totally with kgh4life regarding tweeting.
If you’re not a performer that has met expectation, stay off twitter and facebook.
The only tweets I want to see are tweets about how hard you’re working, why our team’s not going to be a ridiculous embarrassment again this year. How you want to throw up b/c of how hard you worked today, you’ve increased your bench, or how impressed you are with the new additions to our team and how hard they’ve been working, too. Maybe something about how you’ve taken the new guys under your wing, etc.

Today, on the Commish’s show they talked about a hockey player in TB that is paid a ton of money but the area doesn’t call for his head or come down on him like they possibly should b/c he makes such an impact in the community.
I think GM should spend a whole lot less time trying to appear like Mr.Goodguyinthecommunity and be the guy he was brought here to be FIRST. Once the first is proven THEN we need that good guy in the community. IMO, he’s got it backwards. That goes for any other NFL athlete. Nobody wants to hear that you’re “really getting into” this new pop song on the radio(Faine). If anything, I want you tuned into some Slayer or something that makes you want to kill and destroy. 😉

I completely understand your post, Hawaiian. “Who cares what people tweet when it’s after work?”, etc, and you are partially correct, however, when our team is as God-awful as we’ve been…the laughingstock of the NFL, joking and meaningless crap posts only make it look like you’re not taking your JOB seriously. Schiano talks of guys that love the game of football. Guys you have to kick out of the facility at night, guys who stay late and spend every night in the playbook. Do you really have time for tweeting stupidity, no matter how trivial, when you should be busy loving football?

I know… if it bothers me I can just delete them from my twitter. I’m a nobody, my opinion isn’t any better than anyone else’s and maybe that’s just me but still… Sue me. 🙂

  57. GenocideD Says:

PS: I know this particular tweet IS sort of about football and training, etc. I’m referring to lots of the other tweets of his and several of our other guys.

  58. MTM Says:

Osi for a 3rd round. get some experience of the D line. McCoy is a soft gel.

  59. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I get what you are saying, but I just don’t get the idea that you have to have made it to tweet or be on facebook. I guess I should delete my accounts now.

Just because one person doesn’t want to know what they are listening to, doesn’t mean others don’t (I personally don’t care what they listen to either, but it doesn’t bother me that someone posts it). Believe it or not, there are thousands of fans that really do want to know those kinds of things. The only problem I have with Twitter and facebook is when famous people post things that are inappropriate, because in a couple years, my kids are going to be following them. However, I’ve never seen GMC post anything like that.

I still believe without a doubt that a player can live football and still have time to tweet. Athletes are going to do alternate things besides train. i would sure as hell rather have someone tweet versus go out and get into trouble. If they enjoy doing it, knock yourself out. Some of the greatest athletes (and hardest workers) in the world tweet on a regular basis. Tim Tebow comes to mind. I don’t think he’s a slacker. These guys have to have lives outside of football, and if the worst thing they are doing is twitter, then we are in good shape.

  60. Stevek Says:

I personally would rather see 16 games played then 16 tweets.

  61. Hawaiian Buc Says:

If you gave me the choice between tweets or games, I’d go for games too, lol.

  62. GenocideD Says:

Let’s throw non-buccaneers out of the discussion then. I have no problem with Green Bay or New England’s players tweeting b/c their teams are on par with where we need ours to be. Tebow’s been on two teams better than ours.
I compare it to what I tell my daughter. You don’t have time for facebook when your grades suck. Right now our team’s grades suck.

  63. Have A Nice Day Says:

@DR J Not true. Quite a few OTC Glucosamine supplements have proven effective. Just not the garbage you buy at CVS and WalMart. NutraMetrix GC works very well. Many Doctors and sports therapists highly recommend it.

  64. Have A Nice Day Says:

And “pharmaceutical grade” certainly doesn’t mean “pure quality”. It simply means the company that makes it only sells it via pharmacies. It is more about marketing and money than quality.

There are many OTC brands that trump pharmaceutical grade supplements.

  65. Have A Nice Day Says:

Heck, many OTC products claim “pharmaceutical grade” as well as there is no one organization that standardizes a “pharmaceutical grade” product. There are many organizations all with different criteria of what is and is not pharmaceutical grade. If a company takes its supplement to one org and gets turned down, they may go to another and get the thumbs up.

    Its marketing at its finest.

  66. Trollslayer Says:

I think “admin” joe would love someone to get him with some lubricant. Finally losing that virginity.

  67. Architek Says:

This is lame. Still the same old McCoy. After he busts maybe Washington can convert him to an outside LB in the 3-4.

  68. BamBamBuc Says:

If idiots can post on blog sites, GMC can tweet. Seriously, shut up about GMC tweeting. Who cares. If he should stop tweeting because he hasn’t “done enough” at work to “earn the right” to tweet then most of the people on here probably haven’t done near enough to earn the right to post on this blog in comparison. He’s done enough to make more money than most any of us will make in our whole lifetime. Whether you think he’s earned that or not, he’s got the checks. That, in and of itself, is earning more than most and he should be able to tweet, post on facebook and blog sites, listen to pandora, watch netflix… just like any of you. If you don’t like it, don’t follow it, but regardless, don’t bitch about it.

  69. GenocideD Says:

Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans aren’t counting on blog-posters to turn around a franchise that’s currently in the toilet. Joe’s article is about GM’s tweet. If you don’t want to read about people’s thoughts on GM’s tweets maybe you shouldn’t have read any of the comments attached to this article.

  70. Bobby Says:

Apparently all the idiots complaining about GMC’s tweets don’t read the articles Joe posted about his 5 day a week 10 hr day training sessions. Stupididy knows no bounds and the drivel posted on here daily proves that. GMC should stop tweeting…..LOL!!! Seriously, if that wasn’t so incredibly dumb it would be funny.

  71. GenocideD Says:

I”m not sure I can dumb it down for you any further, Bobby.
