No Leaks At One Buc

April 2nd, 2012

Joe finds it very impressive at 5:24 p.m. that there’s not word anywhere revealing what Buccaneers did not attend Day 1 of the Greg Schiano regime at One Buc Palace this morning.

Schiano was asked and would not name names to the throng of scribes assembled, and it seems like nobody was talking around the bowels of the complex.

Attendance was voluntary, but it sure would be interesting and telling to know what Bucs couldn’t make it. For Joe, this is significant. Joe is quite sure beat writers were sniffing around as best they could but got nothing.

Schiano clearly got the message through to the Bucs how tight his ship will run — or perhaps he shocked the crap out of the team and they couldn’t get their lips to move. Regardless, Joe’s already feeling a major culture change on Day 1.

On one hand I like and respect the tight ship mode.
    Smart.

On the other? I’d sure like to know who did not show up and why.
To this fan it matters, it matters a lot. New Head Coach, new system and coming off 4-12? You had better be there unless you have a very legitimate reason not to be. End of story.

  2. DAN Says:

unless you have a more specialized conditioning regimen (approved by the coach) because you have a special issue (winslows knee)

  3. Jimmy Says:

Hope two of the players who blew off today’s meetings were K2 and Talib.

  4. raphael Says:

A real coach….refreshing….and things of that nature.

  5. Jimmy Says:

Word is no one saw Quincy Black today, but that’s nothing new. No one saw him last year either, not even during games.

  6. FlBoy84 Says:

Seems like Schiano is taking a page from Belichick in creating a team and organization that keeps the talking to a minimum and items in-house. I personally like that. Would prefer the team do less talking and let their play speak for them.

While they’re at it, lets see if they can convert all of the “writers” out there that feel the need to do a video instead of an article. “WAY” out of hand. Please don’t feel the need to get your face out there on video Joe. No offense. lol You guys should stick to what you’re good at imo.

  7. bucfat Says:

I sure got exited after i watching Mr. Schiano press conference. Im under the impression none of our free agents were there?

  8. Thomas2.2 Says:

Rumor has it that GMC voluntarily appeared in a wheelchair and in full mummy garb to protect him from a season ending injury during the meeting.

Rumor out of one buc is that the Bucs will be testing out a new full body jousting style uniform on Gersld to see if they can get Gerald through a full season. Since Gerald isnt required to actually make contact with a ball carrier, just be “disruptive,” the thinking is that it is okay if he cant move too well.

    Lol

  9. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Raphael, that was a funny reference to Raheem.

  10. BigMacAttack Says:

Security reported Aqib Talib sneeking in the back entrance 13 minutes late wearing a hoodie.

  11. RastaMon Says:

after the tounge lashing and video low lights of the 2011 season it is understandable how everyone was …”speechless”…..YES….it is all all film….we all saw it…and remember it !

  12. George Says:

We’ll eventually know who the slackers are because they won’t be with the team.

  13. FlBoy84 Says:

Off topic, but read a great article over at Pro Football Focus about RB pass blocking efficiency during last season. Not surprisingly, our own Kregg “The Matador” Lumpkin was basically the worst in the NFL. “That number is still alarmingly high, but at least McCoy is a feature back. Imagine being Kregg Lumpkin, a third-down back who gave up 16 combined sacks, hits, and hurries. If you’re on the field in obvious passing situations, you simply need to do better than that.”

Very interesting article if you get a chance to read it.

Im really glad we didn’t get Chip Kelly . Wasn’t thrilled about Schiano at first but thats cause i knew nothing of him. Like Dominik said, when you see him, “that’s a football coach”. He has grown on me rather quick. I am very excited for next season between him, the free agent pick ups and our upcoming draft picks.

  15. Architek Says:

Hoodie joke not too funny nowadays

  16. j lynch Says:

Did Blount get a ride to practice?? Who woke him up?

  17. 941-Bucs Says:

It looks to me as Schiano is mirroring the very coach who publicly gave his recommendation for him. It seems the new culture at One Buc place is the same as the Patriot way.

Personally i love it. WE have an advantage going in to this next year to take the league by storm. We have the element of surprise on our side. When you bring in a new coach other teams have no idea what they are in store for. Giving us the jump on each team as long as they are willing to give it their all. So keeping a tight lip about every thing is great in my eyes.

  18. MOBucs Says:

Schiano was just on Total Access and said that Blount was a no-show. Some kind of prior engagement. He spoke highly of him, however, thinking of him as a potential bell cow. His smile widened when asked about T-Rich and his 1 fumble during his college career.

  19. bucbelevr Says:

Did you all NOTICE on the Draft Visits PFT Tracker……that we host Morris Claiborne tomorrow?!?!?!? Yeah….his position coach here, now with Bucs….we will so make him want the pewter!

  20. BucFanFromLa Says:

    BigMacAttack,

I don’t know if you were trying to be funny or not, but you probably want to lay off the hoodie jokes. I’m going to assume you were not, so I’ll give you a pass on that one.

  21. Kryq Says:

Was watching Buccaneers insider interview with Clayborn, he said a few guys on defense where the ones missing, I think Talib, T jackson, Q Black, maybe Myron Lewis.

  22. SensibleBuc Says:

Schiano bringing up punting the ball constantly makes me think that he’s confident in the talent we have defensively.

  23. ClayBURN94 Says:

I think T jax wasn’t there today because he got so high before the meeting he passed out and forgot what time the meeting was…

  24. bucbelevr Says:

@Clayburn94…. 🙂 (on your TJax reference)

Cuz its Friiidayyyy….and he ain’t got sh*t to do!! lmao. Courtesy of Chris Tucker….

It would be nice to have Trent Richardson here in TPA.He could help Bucs now and another PCola Buc would not hurt at all.LOL

Looks like D Brooks is on the T. Train

Do we know for certain that anyone did not show? Anyone who didn’t is stupid as heck or had a valid reason.

That’s the best Nike could do???

Hope they come out with some nice Bucs shoes down the road. 🙁

  32. BucFanFromLa Says:

    BucFan20,

First of all, it’s “you’re” and not “your”. Secondly, I never said I was God. Thirdly, a person doesn’t have to be God to give someone a pass. You can hide behind your computer and say what you want to say though.

  33. BucFan20 Says:

    BucFanFromLa.
Don’t need to hide little BOY. If you think everyone is now going to fear over the word Hoodie your wrong. The man used the word hoodie . He does not need a pass from you or anyone else . I have a Red Bucs hoodie. Not going to ask you if I can ware it , use the word or anything else. Yes you think you are GOD when you tell someone You will give them a”pass ” for something they said You don’t like!

  34. Capt. Tim Says:

I think Schiano is tighten the reins already.

    That is a good start!

  35. BucFan20 Says:

    ^wear it

  36. BucFanFromLa Says:

    BucFan20,

Well since I’m a boy and you are so tough, send me your address and I’ll come to your house. Also, I just told you it’s “you’re” and not “your” dumbass.

  37. frige bob Says:

^ Really?? Joe, can you delete this immature and completely irrelevant crap clogging the comments section?

  38. BucFanFromLa Says:

    Frige Bob,

You are absolutely correct. That is exactly what it is. I’m way out of character. My apologies to the site.

  39. Bobby Says:

Man, I didn’t know Al Sharpton posted on here. Do we need to fear all references to hoodies now?? Give me a break….
