Ascribing Motives And Wild Speculation

March 27th, 2012

TampaBay.com Buccaneers beat writer Stephen Holder spit out what seemed like everything in his brain about the Bucs during a radio interview today with Justin “The Commish” Pawlowski on WQYK-AM 1010.

Holder explains why most of what flies around owners meetings and various draft chatter is baloney. Plus Holder talks about the Bucs possibly drafting left tackle Matt Kalil, Quincy Black returning as a “prominent” player, and he ascribes motives to rockstar general manager Mark Dominik’s words. Kalil can dance I wouldn’t be upset if we had to settle on him. BUT OMG! BUT

“Quincy Black returning as a “prominent” player”

This will NEVER happen! QBlack isn’t a prominent anything. Jane can’t hit nor tackle nor wrap. Rockstar you screwed the pooch on this one. Count your losses!

Our D is gunna be a punching bag…

  2. ALSTOTTSMART! Says:

Reminds me of the Michael Clayton extension (26m – 10.5m guaranteed)

  3. Chris FWC Says:

    i.e. Charlie Garner, Pinyata Walker

  4. Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I HOPE we draft Kalil , Tampa can never have too good of an O Line.

  5. deminion Says:

    @ Chris FWC
    i.e. Charlie Garner, Pinyata Walker

    Man thts too funny !!!!

  6. ALSTOTTSMART! Says:

    Kalil would be awesome.

  7. Lion Says:

If we were draft Kalil who would we move to RT, Kalil or Penn? Also I am willing to give Quincy Black a second chance, hell anyone would have played terrible in that botched scheme that Raheem ran along with the terrible coaching and player development. I don’t even think Raheem knew what kind of defense he wanted.

  8. Lion Says:

I still prefer Claiborne and believe his fills a bigger hole, but if by that 1% he isn’t there @ #5. Kalil would hands down make this one of the best O-lines the NFL has ever seen. I’ve said this many times before Kalil is the Vikings choice, everything else is a smokescreen to stir the pot for a trade back. The Brown’s will undoubtedly go offense to help Mccoy (Richardson or Blackmon) or replace Mccoy altogether and draft Tannehill. I fully expect Claiborne to be on the board still @ 5.

  9. Chris FWC Says:

If Ochostinko restructured from 3 to 1 mil so can QBlack!

Ocho had like 15 catches last year! 15!!

Oddly enough thats how many tackles QBlack dreamed he could make.

You, Jane, don’t play football like big strong Tarzan! You play like Cheetah! (not a Sileo reference)

  10. Cam" panther" Cameron Says:

Damn- got them all twisting in the wind today!!
Don’t have a clue who they want’

Psst- we hired Ron Cooper for a reason!

  11. buCncRaZy Says:

We are almost in a win win situation, Khalil Richardson Claiborn or trade down would be a win! I’m still worried about LB tho

  12. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

I think Claiborne is the smartest pick to make. With that being said I think we are in a very good spot. Kalil, Richardson, Blackmon or even a trade down – I would be totally OK with any of these. Basically a win-win for us as any of the names we are “projected” to take will help us immensely.

  13. RastaMon Says:

    though they rhyme….prominent
    and
    dominant
    have two different defintions
clever choice of words bt the Bucs GM…..

  14. Mr. Patrick Says:

If Kalil is still on the board at #5, Bucs are gonna get some calls.

  15. Brandon Says:

Sounds like Dom WANTS to trade down… perhaps to draft the QB of the D for the next 10-15 seasons. Some of you can doubt, but Claiborne MAY be a great CB but NFL history has proven that great MLBs make a great defense far more often than a great CB. I’m not sure what a cover CB is going to do to help our woefully weak run defense. A great LB will allow average CBs to play better because stopping the run will be setting up 3rd and long situations.

  16. Patrick Says:

Well it’s not gonna matter if we got V-Jack or Nicks, the linebacker area alone will ruin our season with Quincy Black returning and us not signing a LB through free agency. One more f’n upgrade (linebackers), and then it’d be a complete free agency period.

  17. ClayBURN94 Says:

Ummm does Dom think that the linebackers are supposed to run away from running backs instead of tackling them? With our current set of linebackers thts what it looks like…

  18. Capt. Tim Says:

    Clayburn94- lol!
Apparently, based on the contract he gave Quincy Jane, Dom has been misinformed about what a LBer is supposed to do!

Meybe that explains the Michael Clayton contract!

  19. Nate Says:

If were going oline trade down and take that riley kid and pick up a draft pick.. but i wouldnt mind going o-line…

  20. RustyRhino Says:

    @FIRETHECANNONS

    Yeah, Total agreement!
