Blocking Icon Poised For Super Bowl Ring

February 5th, 2012

Chucky-blaming, stone-hands, one-year-wonder, legendary blocking icon Michael Clayton is a happy man.

Joe would be too if he fleeced the Bucs for $10 million guaranteed back in 2009.

Clayton’s also on the New York Giants roster — injured reserve (not hurt while making a catch)– and he’s all giddy about what an impact he’s had as a mentor to his Giants teammates. In what really was a classic interview this week, Clayton sat down with Steve Duemig, of WDAE-AM 620, to talk about how great he is and how blessed he is. Pop a cold one and take a listen below.

Clearly it’s Jon Gruden’s fault. That he got cut from the Buccaneers…….that he got hurt. That after a good rookie season he was unable to catch the football, a task of some importance to a WO. Mark Clayton has great fingers for pointing, not so great for receiving.

    10 millions dollars………….

    No FURTHER comment…………

“I mean, regardless of what they say, the check is in the bank. That’s not changing.”

    A mentor?

    Bwwwaaaahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

    MC is a joke.

  4. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

I heard the interview when it first aired on Steve Duemig/WDAE
I always liked Clayton, but like everyone, wondered what happened to him after his rookie year.
He went to a power running team with the Giants, but seemed to never catch on.

  5. Brad Says:

I heard the interview and it sounded like Clayton just got done watching Jerry McGuire. I would have guessed it was Cuba Gooding Jr. Yeah Know!!
I can’t believe this guy really thinks he has an impact on the Giants receiving team. At least the dude is confident. Of course his contract was the start of the great Dominik regime. Yippy!

  6. RastaMon Says:

I’ve never gotten over the logic of drafting the 5th WR taken overall with the 16th pick….

  7. Architek Says:

I am not hating on him. it’s not his fault he duped the Bucs into a payday will now possibly get a ring. The mud is on the Bucs and a more established better front office clearly understand Clayton’s role, as a IR sideline and lockeroom guy. Yay Dominik…#Idiot

  8. bucfansouth Says:

Sounded like he was high in the interview. But maybe he’s just so damn happy he’s made so much money and keeps making it. What’s a Super Bowl winner’s share worth?

  9. Pete Dutcher Says:

Sheesh people…he was giving glory to God and all you people can do is insult him?

    Heathens!

  10. TheProsUseAdvoCare Says:

I don”t see the worth in Clayton from a coaching stand point. Why would you pay a guy league minimum to sit on the bench and do the WR coach’s job? He certainly isn’t leading by example.

  11. Buc You 2.2 Says:

I heard the interview the other day… I thought it was a good, fun interview.

Why do fans HATE ex Players so much? The guy is a good guy, thanking everything that he has experienced.

There is too much hate in Tampa… really unhealthy.

  12. Capt.Tim 2.2 Says:

Buc you- I agree( unless it’s directed at Dom, who continues to ruin this team)

  13. Vince Says:

    What a douche

  14. Stevek Says:

Dom, time to get a staff together of “worthy” coordinators. Commit to FA, and try not be a, “glorified errand boy”.

  15. sandbagrudy Says:

You can call the guy a winner now and like they say they can’t take this away from us

  16. Greg 2.2 Says:

He is a good guy, but still can’t catch a cold if he licked a hospital floor.

  17. Adam Says:

it’s a shame Clayton hurt his thumbs. That’s going to hurt his NFL career so he will no longer be able to stick them up his a$$.
