Raheem Plays Defense

Pressed by the media today about his job security and asked whether he would retain himself for 2012, Raheem Morris made it clear that the Bucs’ woes are a team effort and the focus — good and bad — shouldn’t be all on him.
He also offered a bit of a defense for his record during the Monday afternoon news conference.
“You don’t go from being a coach of the year candidate to being the worst coach in the league to get fired within a year,” Raheem said.
Channeling the team concept, Raheem also referenced the “the collective agreement to go young” between the three-headed leadership team of himself, Mark Dominik and Team Glazer.
Raheem seems very confident he should return. Joe admires his confidence, but Joe thinks Raheem a little too caught up with past accomplishments.
Good and great head coaches get fired all the time. And Raheem has proven he’s not in either category yet.

What an idiot. I have never heard a coach stoop to such a low level publicly – grossly groveling.
This is the sign of an extremely weak minded individual. I am disgusted by these excuses and brash attempt to throw everyone else under the bus, shameful. Delusional. What do you expect from the WOAT?

I admire Coach Morris and think he has not been backed up by ownership or the GM. I also firmly believe many of the players who say they support him have quit and let their HC, themselves and the fans down.
Unfortunately for Raheem, he will be the scapegoat the Royal Glazerbaum’s are looking for. I wish him the best.
The personal hatred 2.2 continues to vent against is disgusting, disturbing, repetitive and boring. It’s been going on since day one, through 10-6 and up to now. I want no part of it. He is a disgrace as a fan and a human being IMO. There is clearly something more going on here and that should be clear to anyone.
Having typed my truth, it is probably best for all concerned that Raheem move on. I only hope the Royal Glazerbaum’s pay attention to what needs to be done here and that 2.2 gets the help he needs to be a decent human being one day.

Yet the NFL’s history is riddled with many 1 year wonders…. It is a very real possiblity that when the NFL network updates the top 10 1 year wonders that Morris and maybe even Freeman, if not the whole team last year, could be on it!

What else do you expect him to do? He’s on the brink of getting fired, and you want him to put all the blame only on him? If you were in his position you would’ve done the same thing, but probably 3 or 4 loses ago.
I’m not as shocked as many here because one team in the division was going to regress and I laugh at all those that thought it was going to be ATL or NO, and didn’t wanted to accept (caugh JOE caugh Thomas2.2) the Bucs as the prime candidate for the decline…

Raheem’s statement is about to be proven false.
Also, that public statement worded as fact is a direct challenge both to Dominik and the Glazers. This won’t end well for him.

Sean Jones, Quincy Black, Geno Hayes, EJ Biggers, Myron Lewis, Elbert Mack, plain and simple $*CK. These talentless players are playing starter roles, they should be no more than back up players/special teamers. No defensive coach in the HISTORY of the NFL could make these guys better, they just $*CK.
The guys with real talent are playing well, AJAYCLAY (obvious), Mason Foster (other than making rookie mistakes he hussles and could be a star if he improves in the class room), Bowers (they took it slowly with him, didnt rush him into the line up and hes slowly starting to come on fairly strong, kid is making plays). Those are the only real talented guys we have and they haven’t “quit”.
Now referring back to the guys I mentioned in my previous post, It’s a combination of things with them….I think they know they $*ck and quit because the know they can’t do better.
The majority of our roster are a joke, the closet is not done being clean out. We are still rebuilding and need to except the fact that WE $*CK but BUCS FANS are SPOILED with winning from DUNGY and GRUDEN.
It’s now MORRIS’s turn to rebuild this team and he’s hardly had a chance to do that.
I promise you if he stays, it’ll be less than ONE YEAR and RAH will have this team and the FANS back in the stadium……If he goes well, we are going to be the early 2000 49ers going through head coach after head coach after head coach trying to find that Jim Harbaugh.

Raheem your are now setting records for futility and have not been able to build on anything this year. All you have is a weak 10 win season to hang your hat on as now you are in the midst of a cluster**ck with historical proportions.
This team is in a tail spin of the likes of which you rarely see in the NFL. They have not been decimated by injuries like other teams that still compete, several players have regressed and have not been the least bit competitive since the Saints home victory (save for maybe Green Bay and Tennessee games).
He has lost this team, and the fans (except for the few delusional supporters that are left).
Off with his head!!!

We have a few guys on our defensive roster that deserve to stay, AC, DQB, Mason, those may be the only few that actually have talent. Other than that the rest of the roster SUCK and they know that and that’s why they give up.
The majority of our roster is a joke, the house still needs to be clean out. Bucs fans are so SPOILED from the DUNGY and GRUDEN era they aren’t giving a RAH a chance to rebuild this team.
Rah will get us back on track in less than another year, yet nobody wants to give him a chance.
If we do FIRE RAH, well we will be the early 2000 49ers hiring coach after coach after coach looking for our next Jim Harbaugh.

One thing I do feel strongly about is this seasons failure is more the owners fault than anyone else. Clearly they didn’t want to spend money. Screw them.

There are plenty of coaches now and in history that have questionable careers during there first few years of HC, that don’t have a super bowl resume or even a NFL resume.
Our defense SUCKS, hardly any talent. Not that difficult to understand.
If GMC and Price are the guys we hope they are, them two along with DQB and Clay will change this team by a lot if we can nab a Patrick Willis type LB in the draft to prowl this defense. A LB that can grab this defense by the nutz and squeeze during tough times. Our LB’s suck, there is no talent, no vocal leadership, nothing…..TALENT alone says speaks volumes, yet they suck so bad there is nothing they can do.
A HC/DC/OC’s job is to instruct a game plan and system, RAH’s system is based off of Dungy’s. What else do you want him to do? Walk up to Quincy Black and say, “Hey man, you suck so bad take these steroids maybe that’ll help”. A coach can only do so much but there is only one problem……….

Just read Rah’s presser over on another site and it’s actually kinda sad. Dude could be a politician when his coaching career comes to an end, which so much double-talk. Think his team has started to understand that as well. Things like “Last year the same team won 10 games, through a little bit of smoke and mirrors so to speak, but that’s not the point.” And then he spouts off about being a COY candidate last year and how you don’t win games by accident.
My favorite though was “Kellen didn’t jump over that guy with the intention to fumble, he tried to make a play outside of his realm, outside of the box in order to get his football team to win. And I’m not going to bash him for that, it’s a teachable moment, for even a guy like Kellen Winslow.” And then when asked why he benched Blount, said “The same thing when you’re an old player and you jump the man that’s not in your zone and you kinda get outside of your box in order to make a play – whether it’s for me or your teammates or it’s for yourself – it still can’t happen. Those things won’t be accepted or tolerated so you have to put the next man in and let them think about it.” Don’t recall Winslow being taken out of the game, except when he does himself every time he makes a catch.

How do you explain the difference between last year and this year’s performance on defense? Mostly the same players (save me the Ruud argument please) with the addition of #s 94, 91, 59, 36, and 95. The Bucs have regressed terribly and don’t just “suck” they are terrible on a historical scale! This all happened under Raheem’s watch dude! He is the captain of the ship!
I’m not saying everything is Raheem’s fault but he is NOT the coach that can bring the Bucs out of this mess. He MUST go, and you have no valid argument otherwise.

You were hired after a guy with a winning season one year removed from NFC South Champs was jettisoned.
And that Jettisoned guy was hired after a guy who actually made the playoffs THAT YEAR was jettisoned.
And he replaced a guy who was jettisoned after 7-9.

the 78 team finished 5-11 and was fifth in the league in defense.
Way better than Rah, after starting from scratch with no players in 76………..and no free agency.

The same Ruud that had 87 tackles his last season here (2nd lowest total of his starting career)… as compared to the 98 tackles that Quincy Black and Geno Hayes have COMBINED for this year??? Yeah, that Ruud. Black and Hayes numbers have dropped about 30% since Ruud has been gone. So, either Ruud made them look better by putting them in position or Black and Hayes have regressed on their own making it look like the coach can’t motivate them… I think they’re just not very good and Ruud made them look better (even though that wasn’t very good) than they were.

Raheem is responsible for 2 of the six (2009/2011) worst years in the entire franchises history. Just so you know; I’ve been around for a long time and I can name at least 12 years where this team has had less talent than it has now. I’m not buying the lack of talent argument since the same players just won 10 games last year. I’m sure they missed Ruud as a veteran presence, but they were last against the run with him here and last without him.

Hmm.. ok, if the same players last year were 10-6 and not playing well this year… it was also the same coaches last year. So, if you’re not buying that the players lack talent because they won games last year, then the coaches must have been pretty good last year too. Someone isn’t as good as we thought. I’m thinking it has a LOT to do with the players. With Ruud gone, Black and Hayes are being exposed. Add to that last year we were coming from behind and winning, this year we aren’t. The players don’t know how to deal with adversity. The players answer? Quit. Never quit if we’re winning, but if we’re on a losing streak, just give up. That’s a MAJOR difference in the players this year from last.

Keeping Ruud and Caddy this season, as well as grabbing a free agent LB and CB would’ve saved Raheem’s job because this team would likely have 2-4 more wins. However, I’m glad they didn’t make those moves because I believe Raheem is woefully under qualified to be an NFL head coach. This season will turn out to be the best thing that has happened to the Bucs since the Dungy/Gruden eras when we look back in a few years.
