Inevitable Tiki Rumors Coming

October 23rd, 2011

LeGarrette Blount has missed two games now with a knee injury, and the Bucs haven’t served up a lot of detail about it, especially consdering Blount is a star player.

The most definitive report out there – one that sure seems on the money now — was from J.P. Peterson of WQYK-AM 1010, who a few days after the injury had a doctor on his radio show that claimed he saw reports on Blount and said Blount had a Grade II MCL tear and would be out several weeks.

Now Earnest Graham hopped off the field in London today with what FOX broadcasters said was an ankle injury. It sure looked bad. (ProFootballTalk.com is reporting Graham is blew out his Achilles and is done for the year.)

And Kregg Lumpkin is, well, Kregg Lumpkin.

So with the bye week now upon the Buccaneers, it only makes sense that rockstar general manager Mark Dominik will look to bring in another running back, preferably one with experience that can get up to speed quickly and help the Bucs win a game.

“Next man up” is a great credo, but the Bucs need another talented horse.

It’s inevitable that retired/unretired Tiki Barber’s name is going to surface as a possibility. Joe had no use for the idea before the season when Tiki decided he wanted to get off the couch and try to fatten his wallet. It was preposterous then for the Bucs, who seemed to be just fine with the chance to have Graham, Blount and Cadillac Williams on the roster.

But desperate times call for desperate measures. Joe’s not sure why the Bucs wouldn’t at least look at the guy this week. In Joe’s mind, the Bucs have an emergency need and everything’s on the table.

Seahawks demoted Allen Bradford to their practice squad two days ago. Guarantee you the Bucs sign him back now, probably within the next 24 hours. He knows the offense very well and the Bucs liked his potential and wanted him back on the practice squad before Seattle snatched him off waivers. That’s where my money is.

  2. Patrick Says:

Cut Lumpkin. Move Chad Spann up to the roster and sign back Allen Bradford.

We get to get Blount back ASAP.

Do you think there’s any chance of mayb looking at Ronnie brown it looks like the eagles are looking to trade him. He would be a great guy to turn too.

Flyboyindallas- Your might be right. Tho something tells me the Bucs wouldnt have waived Bradford and the Seahawks wouldnt have then demoted him to practice squad if he had skills. Methinks Dominik plucks a gem from somewhere else. Either that or we had better pray BLount and Lorig are healthy after the bye and stay healthy the rest of the season.

Sucks to have your QB play so dependent on play action.

Freeman must learn to pass to open up the run or…

we might need Ollie to change up the playbook

This could be a make or break season for Ollie

Or Blount could come back and stay healthy and lead us to the promised land.

Such is life in the “what if” landscape of the NFL.

CandianBuc- That was my immediate thought when Graham went down. Someone politely informed the trade deadline was past so no Ronnie Brown.

  6. FLBoyInDallas Says:

The only options at RB will be practice squad players or unsigned free agents. No trades.

  7. canadianbuc Says:

    well that just great

  8. FLBoyInDallas Says:

The only free agents I’d consider are Tiki Barber and Kevin Smith. Other than that I’d limit it to practice squad guys from other teams or from the Bucs like Allen Bradford, Chad Spann, etc. Just my take.

  9. bucfanjeff Says:

It can’t hurt to look at tiki. Practice squad players are there for a reason. Bradford was put there by his old coach. What does that tell you?

  10. FLBoyInDallas Says:

It tells me there aren’t a lot of options out there so we might have to suck it up and sign someone we wouldn’t otherwise sign.

  11. frige bob Says:

Bring up Chad Spann. Let’s see what he can do…

  12. Dukenilnil Says:

Have to try out Tiki. I mean his brother is still doing great at 36, same genes.

  13. JT Says:

I say we bring in Tiki and Portis for tryouts

  14. Burg Says:

If Kevin smith is healthy give him a look, was beast in college, injuries stopped his NFL career before it ever got started, Ronnie Brown would be good also.
