Raheem Says Team Is Hungrier

July 30th, 2011

So what’s it like to beat the Saints on the road to finish 10-6 yet miss the playoffs?

Per Raheem Morris, it’s brought team leaders back in 2011 more focused.

The head coach explained yesterday during an interview with the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, Steve Duemig, on WDAE-AM 620. Duemig asked Rahee whether it’s easier to motivate off a losing season or a winning season.

Raheem Morris: You always hate to say coming off a non-playoff season is a positive, but you can see a little more hunger, a little more drive. You know, and the drive comes from the right people. No. 5, he’s one of the main catalysts — what he wants to do and how great he wants to be, and how much work he can put into it, and how much better we can be as a team and as a unit.

All those guys are eager to go out there and get it done. Then you have some of the additions come in and they see that hunger and that drive from him as a young player, and they want to jump right on board and they want to fall into place and help us win. It helps us a bit, but at the same time I don’t want it to hinder us. I want it to make us hungrier than we even would be if we made the playoffs.

So the Bucs are hungrier with emerging stars and a major X-factor in Da’Quan Bowers — and every team in their division has added serious firepower.

Is there any doubt the NFC South will be nastiest division in football?

AFC East will be a good one as well…….but I think the NFC South takes the title of “toughest division.” All depends on what kind of leap the Panthers take

It appears Price took what Rah said to heart.

Nice one Scotty! I was going to say that he was referring to DPenn and BPrice, maybe even a little Roy miller.

How can u tell after 1 walk through that 90 guys, 1/2 of whom will be gone in 4 weeks, are hungrier? He refuses to think before he speaks. This is something that becomes apparent about week 10 or so, not walk through 1 when there were 0 offseason practices.

U sheep use the saints win as if it meant something. They were a lock 5 seed, the game was meaningless for them.

Brees was quoted in the Times as saying their “priority” was to not suffer any further injuries. They pulled Brees after the third quarter in a winnable game. In fact, if you recall Blount fumbled on our 30 after Brees was pulled and the Saints a TD away from tying- they kept Colt (whoever) in the game. Why? Bc they weren’t trying to win. They were trying to stave off rust and more injuries.
That 10th win was another scheduling gift.

Thomas, I hear a lot of fear in your comment . We’ve actually beat your boys two years in a row at your house . I think you see your time has passed and nobody is scared of the dreaded Saints no more. they pulled Brees cuz he was getting whooped. lets see what happens on the field this year, we don’t need your respect we’ll just take it from everyone like we did last year.

If the saints wasnt trying to win someone should have given the memo to Malcom Jenkins, because Blount misused him.

    Bucs Deluge,

Great comment but I can tell you are new here. Thomass is not a Saints fan. He actually claims to be a Bucs fan if you can imagine.
