McCoy Invites Random Fans To Movies

July 22nd, 2011

Gerald McCoy wants to hang out with you.

McCoy took to Twitter for fan bonding yesterday, inviting fans to show up outside a local IMAX theater in Tampa to score free movie tickets and snacks, and see Captain America with No. 93 and Adrian Clayborn.

No word whether snacks included two boxes of Milk Duds or just one.

@Geraldini93 AMC Veterans 24. Im passing out tickets from 11:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Be there or be square. 15 3D tickets to Captain America!!

It all went down, so the photo above from McCoy’s Twitter page reveals.

What’s interesting is McCoy, per Twitter, promises bigger and better fan giveaways and hangout sessions are yet to come.

Joe’s waiting for Mons Venus night.

    Awesome.

  2. Travis Says:

I saw this, and noticed him and Clayborn have been hanging out together in Tampa. Thye both know the lockout is coming to a close. I’m stoked GMC has taken Clayborn under his wing. God knows GMAC is one of the hardest workers on our team along with Freeman, so taking Clayborn under his wing and installing that leadership and hardworking mentality will only make us better.

  3. Dave Says:

McCoy is awesome. Good to see Clayborne following him around everywhere too.

These two are the foundation for the return to defensive dominance

  4. OAR Says:

Pretty cool GMC! And, I guess, Twitter is good for something!

  5. Capt.Tim Says:

So cool!! McCoy is a major class act, and a really nice guy. I believe that McCoy and Clayborn are going to be two of the most popular Bucs ever, in addition to two of the most talented. Clayborn is in line with the New Bucs- intelligent, Hard working, dominant talent. And a people person with a cool sense of humor.Dominick keeps displaying the magic touch!!

  6. Mauha Deeb Says:

Dang dude! That is awesome. Rah has been drafting some quality people.

  7. Jrock Says:

Great.. I’m actually going to have to make a twitter account now. I can already feel my testes receding into my abdomen…

  8. Travis Says:

Haha dont worry Jrock, I dont actually post on twitter, but its good for following news and updates on all of your fav players.

  9. Jrock Says:

Just made it 🙁 So I would say, my twitter is @Kushead1 ?

What are some good suggestions for following NFL/Bucs news? Sigh

  10. T in Orlando Says:

That is a terrific thing for GMC to do, and the fact that the lock out is still on, means he did this out of his own pocket, no re-imbursement from the team. It would still be a great thing if this were during a non-lockout time period and he did this with the team’s PR department, and they paid for the tickets and concessions, but shelling this money out of his own pocket I think shows how much this guy wants to make a positive impact on the community with his fame and wealth.

  11. McSid Says:

This is by far the most fan friendly team the Bucs’s have ever had. In the past there have been some approachable players but this team is just awsome. Go Bucs.

    On Twitter?

  13. Jrock Says:

Joe, yes on twitter. So far I’m following GMC, Clayborn and your site.

I should probably link this to my phone huh, otherwise I’m going to be inundated by emails?

You know, I don’t think I’d be willing to do this if there were football right now. Damn you lockout!

  14. Capt.Tim Says:

These young guys are great people- ya just gotta respect them already- nothing but love!

Now, on a slight subject change. Did anyone dissect any of the new CBA. One paragraph will prove very important to Buc fans. With a 120million dollar salary cap, teams will be required to spend 90% of cap in actual payout.

The Bucs have a lot of money they have to spend!!

  15. Chris FWC :) Says:

LOL @ Joe. Class Act #93!

  16. Jrock Says:

    @Capt Tim

There’s also a part in there that drops the 3rd string QB rule. Meaning we can have JJ listed as QB #3, put him in the game in the 1st quarter in a wildcat, and then have Freeman come back in on the next snap.

The rule change will probably help out other teams with speedy QB’s, but I think it can definitely benefit the Bucs and how we use JJ.

  17. BOb Says:

yeah i read that too. but i seem to remember the eagles using vick (their third qb) and then immediately putting donovan back in there the next play. i remember cause that was vicks first game played with eagles. so that rule doesnt make sense unless they had vick listed as a WR that game or something

  18. HFXBUC Says:

…I interpret your closing remarks as a request that the Bucs to sign Pac Man Jones and Santana Moss.

  19. Jrock Says:

Bob, he was probably the #2 QB then. Or a WR like you said, old rules if you put the 3rd string QB in the game, you can’t start 1st/2nd on depth chart until the 4th quarter. Weird

  20. Dan Says:

in years one and two, they will be required to spend 99% of the 120 mill

  21. Mauha Deeb Says:

@Dan Really? That leaves only $1.2 million of wiggle room. That doesn’t seem right at all.

  22. Matt B Says:

The 32 teams collectively have to spend 99% of the cap ($120 mil X 32) on player salaries. So, if the Bucs only get to the floor, all the other teams probably have to be right near the max. It take this to mean that the Bucs will probably have to spend more than the minimum. I don’t know what happens if the combined spending falls short of the threshold or what acrimony would be caused within the 32 owners if everbody is picking up one team’s slack.

  23. BROCKTACULAR Says:

I heard that if the percentage was not spent , there would be substantial fines.

  24. Dan Says:

probably pay players each an average check of the remainder at the end of the season or some such nonsense

  25. Nate Says:

Damnit I hate twitter..Wish i would have it now… but thats pretty damn awesome of Gerald..

  26. BigMacAttack Says:

    Mons Venus Night?
    Good one Joe.

  27. Mr. Lucky Says:

Mons Venus Night Joe – REALLY?

If GMC tweeted that you’d be all over him link white on rice. Mike Williams maybe, but GMC?

  28. 1stEverPost Says:

So nice to hear good news (i needed that)

  29. Snook Says:

GMC and Clayborn. Fast friends. Like it.

  30. Capt.Tim Says:

Yeah, hope that Bowers starts bonding with them soon.
Man, those lucky kids have to be stoked! How often do you get to watch a cool movie with your team’s Star( s to be!) DE and DT? And they foot the bill? I never did. That had to have been incredibly cool!

And again off topic- any of the more accountant oriented guys out there know how much Money Mark will have to spend? It’s a ton. . .

  31. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

GMC is going to be a class act in Tampa for years to come!

  32. Niko (The Optimist) Says:

Jrock and all others interested in following on twitter: Its best to choose a few people from each genre of the sporting world. Follow a couple agents, follow LaCanfora and albert breer from NFL network. follow Profootball talk, follow some players, follow some news agencies, 620wdae is a good one, Justin Pulowski has his Commish twitter and his tweets are legendary.

of course, please follow JoeBucsFan and Bucstop.com!! I tweet updates on the labor several times a day, and I tweet special announcements that I cannot/should not mention otherwise, like broadcasting the 1998 Bucs Steelers HOF game on the day the HOF game would have been.

    DOH!!
