Bucs Are No. 13

June 2nd, 2011

A lot has happened in the past year to the Bucs. They went from the return of the Yucs to 10 wins and a near-playoff berth, largely on the shoulders of rookies and second-year players signed and drafted by rock star general manager Mark Dominik.

There were many who were throwing rocks at the Bucs including popular sports radio personality Adam Schein. Now, Schein happily eats a plate of crow and is ranking the Bucs as the No. 11 organization in the NFL in his recent column on FoxSports.com, a far cry from the bottom of the barrel he had the Bucs ranked last year.

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 37
Owner: 4
Quarterback: 8
Coach: 7
Front office: 8
Coaching staff: 5
Intangibles: 5

One year ago, I bashed Tampa’s direction. The Bucs proved me wrong. Head coach Raheem Morris and GM Mark Dominik are good at what they do. I think young QB Josh Freeman could one day win a league MVP. He is that type of clutch player and leader. Tampa gets knocked down on owner and intangibles. Fans aren’t happy they once again lose a home game to a game in London. And there still is a lack of public trust in ownership.

Well, if this asinine lockout thrust upon innocent fans by NFL capo Roger Goodell lasts two more months, the Bears game in London will return to The CITS. Joe guesses that’s something positive out of Goodell’s stench.

These are all fair points Schein makes. The London game followed passing on a “Hard Knocks” invitation didn’t do a whole lot for Team Glazer’s standing with the fans.

He reminds me of a cartoon character. Reminds me of the dad in Bobby’s world. (not the real life person)

To the contrary, I think passing on Hard knocks improved fan’s feelings towards the team and ownership. The real fans anyway.

I could swear it states “13” and not “11” as the first number for the Bucs. Not that it matters because I believe they are better than either but the article is “13”. Plus the ratings are out of 10 being the best. I don’t see how the coach and front office are rated so low and especially lower than some of the teams they beat. With 10 rookies in the lineup and finish with 10 wins is something what will less rookies and more wins equal.

Adam, as usual, is behind the power curve ane will crash and burn on these numbers.

    @ Ash – You took my reply . . . couldn’t agree more.

Good catch. This is what happens when Joe posts at 2 a.m.

Well, if this asinine lockout thrust upon innocent fans by NFL capo Roger Goodell…

Really, Joe…you are starting to sound like Thomas. Your constant blaming of Goodell is getting really, really old.

  9. Amar Says:

I enjoy the constant blaming of NFL hatchetman warden Roger Goodell. It’s almost as good as popcorn shoveling oatmeal eating spaghetti stuffing Peter King.

  10. Tuggz Says:

Roger Goodell is a public figure. I’m sure he can take the heat just like the rest of them.

Schein has turned into a Buc fan. He is on the bandwagon, along with Joe Theismann, Charles Davis, Peter King, Brian Billick and the list is growing. Raheem and his team are contagious. Once you watch them play it is almost impossible to miss them. There are a few teams in the NFL that will always have good games that won’t want to miss and the Bucs are one of them. I wish John Lynch could call all of the Bucs’ away games. He’s the best and I like Billick too.

  12. Matt Says:

@Pete: I completely agree. I don’t need a Goodell bash in every other post.

Gotta give Schein credit, he admits when he’s wrong. Most loud mouth media types wouldnt
