MLB, Rays Crack Down On Paradise Good Guys

May 16th, 2011

Unfortunately, the long arms of Major League Baseball and the Tampa Bay Rays have reached out to crack down on the great Rays fans at Paradise Worldwide Transportation.

You see, Paradise Worldwide Transportation launched a little promotion on Facebook to give away a roundtrip limo ride to the May 28 Rays game, plus four free Rays tickets and four Rays hats. All you had to do was “Like” their page, and they were going to randomly pick a winner from their Facebook “Likes.”

Pretty simple. And very harmless. Paradise bought the Rays tickets.

But Major League Baseball slapped Paradise with fancy legal paperwork demanding the promotion cease immediately. Apparently, only approved partners of MLB and the team can give away or sell tickets.

Remember, Paradise is the same company that – for no profit – runs the No Excuses Tour that has delivered nearly 200 fans to Tropicana Field from Tampa for only $9.95 on a chauffeured luxury bus.

Also, Paradise was a Rays luxury suite holder in 2008, 2009 and 2010. How dare they threaten the success of MLB and the Rays by giving away four tickets!!

Paradise is complying and no longer giving away the free Rays tickets. However, the limo ride giveaway remains in effect. The winner will be announced in a matter of hours. So you can still Like their page now.

What a shame.

Freaking sad commentary on our society and even worse since they were suite holders. What’s that like $150K a season? Rays are sounding more and more like the Bucs of five years ago. Used Paradise over the holidays Joe. Perfect service.

As MLB continues with it’s”shoot ourselves and our friends in the foot campaign”- no wonder I don’t watch the sport anymore. Too many strikes, too much stupidity like this.

Sorry Joe, I know you work really hard to help fans get to the stadium, and support that team. Gotta be like a backhanded slap for helping the team.
You deserve alot better treatment from MlB than that!

  3. Dave Says:

So MLB pays their lawyers $500 an hour on four tickets. pffft

  4. BucsFanTampa Says:

Ha! I rode the No Excuses Tour with only 10 or 11 people on the bus and was telling my friend the Rays must be loving these guys for offering that deal. Guess not. … Stupid asses.

  5. Espo Says:

Reminds me of an old Simpsons episode where MLB set up surveillance on everyone. I vaguely remember Mark McWire tapping their phones and listening from inside an ice cream truck.

  6. Keith Says:

I still Love them. Could really use that limo ride to impress a new hottie. :)
    She’s cheerleader quality Joe. ;)

  7. Joe Says:

    Too many strikes.

There hasn’t been a work stoppage in baseball in 17 years and it doesn’t appear to be any on the horizon.

    What a bunch of dicks.

Crap move. Sorry to hear about it.

  10. WeNeedDefense Says:

It would have been better to shut down the whole operation to the Rays game, then start an onslaught against the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Also, continue the negative press until the Rays move to Tampa… even though that’s what the owners want anyway.

  11. Tuggz Says:

God forbid a family whose never been to a Rays game goes for the first time on prepaid tickets, enjoys themselves, and then purchases tickets in the future.

  12. Capt.Tim Says:

17 years, that’s like yesterday. That’s about when I stopped Being a baseball fan. I also hope the Rays win, but haven’t ever really gotten interested in baseball since then. I may have to give it another shot! Lol

  13. Peter Rose Says:

Typical crap from a greedy corporation. I’m now officially done with the Rays. Does MLB stand for Moronic Leaching Bastards?
