Cutting Corners?

March 9th, 2011

The subject was brought up with Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik last week at the Great American Track Practice NFL Combine: Are the Bucs cutting corners with character guys?

Video star Anwar Richardson and Woody Cummings, colleagues at the Tampa Tribune, tackle this issue in the latest TBO Bucs vlog.

Where else can one get the following names in one video: Jeremy Trueblood, Aqib Talib, Mike Williams, Jerramy Stevens, LaGarrette Blount, Tanard Jackson, Geno Hayes and Charlie Sheen?

Please listen to the TBO duo’s comments and let Joe know what you think.

I take issue with Trueblood being mentioned. Yes, he was pulled over and such, but was later cleared. As was Williams.

Otherwise, I agree that the Bucs are not cutting corners. I think they firmly believe in second chances.

  2. HIRE GREG OLSON! Says:

    Trueblood WASN’T EVEN DRIVING!!!

  3. Scott Says:

I hope sooner than later, that all of Tampa stops lumping Mike Williams in categories other than talented and mature. We’re (thus far) very lucky to have him (Thank you Mark & Raheem) on our side..
It’s silly to continue to see his name mentioned with others that are clearly questionable character guys.

  4. Dave Says:

Out of 53+ guys on the team the only “character issues” I really see are Aqib Talib & Tanard Jackson
    Jerramy Stevens is gone.
The others don’t seem to be a big deal to me.

  5. Fish Says:

Does nobody realize that just about all of those players were signed or drafted by the old regime???

Blount and Williams are guys who seem misunderstood and have been great (so far) character guys. Raheem and Dom did their homework. The DUI was b.s. and everyone knows it. Aside from those two, ALL of the aforementioned players were Jon Gruden’s and Bruce Allen’s thugs.

Everyone brings this crap up and it’s ridiculous.

  6. BamBamBuc Says:

Hey, give Gru/Allen a bit of credit…. I don’t think Charlie Sheen was THEIR idea either… lol
