Combine Buzz: Corners And Safeties Arrive

February 26th, 2011

How tall is Ahmad Black? The wrong answer could put him in a freefall.

Who needs the beach when you can watch football? Well, it’s not quite football, but it’s the NFL Scouting Combine on NFL Network. The drills kicked off today with offensive linemen.

Joe loves watching all the manbeasts do all kinds of things they’ll never have to do on the field.

Just arriving at the combine today are safeties and cornerbacks.

Do the Bucs need a safety? Might they grab a “luxury pick” at cornerback if the right guy is available?

NFL Draft guru Justin Pawlowski, of WDAE-AM 620, shares some secondary names to watch combine in this podcast exclusively for JoeBucsFan.com.

@Joe: Are you ever going to post a Bucs mock draft?

  2. Jamie Says:

Honestly, I like our safeties. I think Grimm is gonna be solid back there next year. We could, of course, use an all-star safety, but it seems unlikely that we’ll find someone fitting that description by the time we get all our other needs addressed.

I for one am very high on the smallest running back at the Combine, Jacquizz Rodgers. The guy was nasty in the Pac-10 the past couple seasons, and the Bucs could use a small, shifty complement to Blount. Plus they’re both from the state of Oregon…which means…something?

    Here’s my Bucs mock draft:

1st round: DE- Cameron Jordan, California

2nd round: OT- Jason Pinkston, Pittsburgh

3rd round: DE- Greg Romeus, Pittsburgh

4th round: LB- Lawrence Wilson, Connecticut

5th round: RB- Taiwan Jones, Eastern Washington

6th round: S- Jaiquawn Jarrett, Temple

7th round: FB- Shaun Chapas, Georgia

  4. Hunter Says:

@Jamie: I agree with safety, and I heard the Bucs interviewed Noel Devine (don’t know if they interviewed Rodgers yet) today…

  5. Dave Says:

    HUNTER:

1st round: DE- Ryan Kerrigan, Purdue

2nd round: OLB Bruce Carter, UNC

3rd round: DE- Greg Romeus, Pittsburgh

4th round: ILB- Nate Irving, NC State

    5th round: RB- Locke, Kentucky

That is hat I have been harping on. I like what you have for rd 1, 3, 4, 5
I don’t think they will need an OT except maybe in round 6-7

I also think Safety in round 5-7

You seem pretty heavy in the Big East
