Source: Favre Wanted Bucs; Allen Not HonestAugust 8th, 2008
Joe confesses, though he likes Lord Favre, he’s at the point where he’d rather read a Bill James book than read another report about Lord Favre. But if one is to believe Lord Favre’s personal pilot (no, not Deanne), the Bucs (i.e. Bruce Almighty) and the Jets were in a bidding war for Lord Favre and that the future Hall of Fame quarterback preferred the Bucs.
Lord Favre’s pilot, Grant Goetsch, the vice president of Wisconsin Aviation, seemed to be privy to trade details as he shipped the Mississippi royal couple back and forth from Hattiesburg to Green Bay. So Goetsch told the Watertown (Wis.) Daily Times.
“(Favre) knew there was a bidding, he knew that they (Packers) had a higher offer from the Jets and he knew that the Packers wanted him to go to the Jets,” Goetsch said. “He didn’t want to really go to the Jets… He was aware of both (teams), but the comment was made that he wasn’t as interested in the Jets.
“While Brett and Deanna, his wife, were out with the group and the cameras getting on board the airplane and the same when we got off at Hattiesburg, they put on a face that they’re going to keep moving on and stuff, but in the aircraft it was clearly very somber.”
Well, well, well. Bruce Almighty claims when he asked the Pack what they wanted for Lord Favre, he never got an answer. Yet Lord Favre — unless the Mississippi royal couple were conning the pilot — was talking about how the Bucs and Jets were in a bidding war.
Did Bruce Almight just get caught with his hand in the cookie jar?
