Wrong About Mike Williams

Joe has made no secret about how much he respects and enjoys reading Peter King of Sports Illustrated. Ugly Monday mornings are slightly tolerable thanks to his weekly Monday Morning Quarterback columns.

Not all Bucs fans agree and not even Joe agrees with everything King writes. So Joe understands how Bucs fans erupted at King when the long-time NFL reporter predicted the Bucs would win a grand total of two games this year.

Already, the coffee-slurping King is issuing a mea culpa, largely because of the play of Bucs wide receiver Mike Williams yesterday.

I think I was wrong about a lot of things in my predictions, as usual, and one of those might have been picking Tampa Bay to win two games. I like what I saw out of Mike Williams Sunday. The fourth-round rookie from Syracuse is an athletic, physical receiver who looks to have tremendous confidence in himself.

Joe wrote this yesterday but it bears repeating: Williams circus catch for a touchdown was the best catch by a Bucs receiver since Joe Jurevicius made a volleyball catch against Philadelphia when the Bucs opened the NFL season on Monday Night Football as defending Super Bowl champions.

Meanwhile, here’s a cool video on what makes King’s Monday Morning Quarterback so popular.

Or meybe, Peter king based his prediction strictly on last year. Meybe he didn’t do any reserch at all, cause he’s a fat lazy bastard. He probably figured that if it looked like he was badly wrong, he would just skinner out some more lazy crap, like what he wrote today. That way he can stay by the jelly donuts- jabba the hut style, and react to what happens. This requires no effort. AND he’ll blow off his previous effortless predictions, and take no acceptability for a half assed ( AT BEST) job! I remember when people actually used to do a little work at their craft. Now the object is to do virtually nothing, except change your opinions so often that nobody can remember what you said initially. Well Peter the Hut- I remember. And tha bacon smell is your feet being held over the fire! Enjoy your donut!

  2. Capt.Tim Says:

DAMN spell check!! That was “slobber”, not skinner, and Accountability- not friggin accessibility!!!

  3. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

Mike Williams is an incredible receiver, and was open a lot of the time yesterday. His catch was incredible. Whatever happened to Aurelius Benn ?

  4. YearOBucsfan Says:

Predicting the Bucs to win only two games this year just shows how little time Peter King has put into actually looking at the Bucs. Mike Williams is good with the potential to be great, should not be a revelation to anyone actually paying attention. The fact that he only mentions Williams in his mea culpa also shows he probably only watches the highlights. And to think, this is his JOB, and he gets paid to put out his opinions that are no more informed than a guy with a real job, who just watches Sportscenter once in awhile.

  5. Capt.Tim Says:

Buuut, normally find Peter King a decent read, except when he’s doing a lazy, half assed job of researching my beloved Buccaneers- screw you, Peter king!

  6. Wade Says:

The best catch ever was bryants end zone one handed grab vs carolina. HANDS down. Bucs played alight yesterday. Very disappointed in tjax and the number of 3rd and longs freeman put himself into. The ball came out much less snooth than before his thumb injury, but good for him sucking it up and throwing a quality gw td. GO BUCS. EGs fumble was embarrassing too.

  7. Lakeland Bob Says:

At least King admits he could be wrong. That worm Schein will wait until he looks like a total moron before he changes his tune.

  8. Ash Says:

I was thinking the same thing Lakeland Bob.

  9. Ish Says:

But Schein looks like a total moron BEFORE he writes, so shouldn’t he at least try to get it right the first time?

  10. nick Says:

    Adam Schein is next

  11. nick Says:

And Florio said the Bucs wouldn’t win 3 games in the next 2 years

  12. Lakeland Bob Says:

You’re right nick-Florio is another worm.At least King expressed his opinion in a civilized way.Florio and Schein are sarcastic a$$holes who felt they had to trash the team and give the impression we are the worst team ever assembled. It’s all in how you deliver your message and these two worms took the low road.

  13. Teflon Don Says:

Gta agree with WADE.. JOE did you forget about that pass AB had @ carolina?? that was a better catch than mikes TD yesterday.. just sayin.. i like what i saw from the team yesterday yea its only week 1 but we had to wait like 10 weeks last year to get a W i think we’ll be around 7-9/ 8-8/ 9-7 @ best.. go BUCS!

  14. Joe Says:

Antonio Bryant’s catch at Carolina was outstanding but here’s why Jurevicius’ and Williams’ catches were better:

Each had to react to tipped balls; had to change motions and positions in midair. Bryant’s catch was not reacting to a tipped pass.

In Williams’ case, look how he not only reacted to the tipped pass, but had the frame of mind to get both feet down. Incredible.

  15. BamBamBuc Says:

Look at the play, listen to what Williams himself said. He tipped the pass himself. It was thrown behind him, he got a hand on it and tipped it up, he knew where the ball was and made the adjustment to it. That was actually a better catch than I had at first thought. I thought the defender tipped it, but he gave himself a chance to catch it. Nice move, Mike. Great catch.

  16. d-money Says:

I have nothing to say that Capt.Tim hasn’t already said.

  17. MTM Says:

The football pundits can’t be blamed for not knowing anything about the Bucs. They have been too busy anointing the Jets superbowel champs. Apparently anything in Jersey
(aka butthole of the U.S.) pulls in media right now.

    Go Bucs !!

  18. Rican Says:

AB’s one handed catch is by far the best catch lol

  19. Capt.Tim Says:

Well, Capt. Tim has a couple more things to say, as I am tired of lazy, ignorant bastards taking cheap shots at OUR Buccaneers. SCREW you Adam Schein!!! SCREW YOU, Florio!! I’d like ta take a big Buccaneer flag , and wave. It in their fat Lil faces, Winslow style. Then, possibly shove it up their a*•~#>, Cartman style! Lol

  20. BigMacAttack Says:

Peter King mans up. Props to Peter, and “Hey NFL Prognosticators, meet the Bucs!!!”

Buc Love will come but it will take at least 10 wins, and they will still dog out the team. EJ Biggers looked like “Prime Time” with that interception.
