Jeff Garcia Will Not Return To The Bucs

Bucs fans, Joe has some somber new to pass along.

It seems Jeff Garcia will not make a return trip to the Bucs in their potential time of need with Josh Freeman missing at least two weeks with a fractured tip of his right thumb.

That also means you-know-who will not grace the Bucs’ sidelines any time soon.

In pinch-hitting Monday for the stomach flu-ridden Raheem Morris, Bucs general manager Mark Dominik mentioned how the Bucs may be looking at adding another quarterback in the interim.

Initially, Dominik was asked about adding another quarterback, and Dominik noted if he did go that route — he didn’t rule it out, nor did he say he would make such a move — it would be a younger quarterback.

Then Dominik was asked point-blank if he would be interested in Garcia.

Dominik, in a word, said, “No.”

No Garcia is fine, but I sure wish we would pick up another vet instead of Snead.

That is the same response most fans are giving to the question of whether they are interested in buying a ticket to see your sorry team and lamebrain coach, Mr. Dominik.

The whole point of a backup in this situation is to bring in a veteran with experience you dolt, you already have a younger player!

Raheem isn’t about to bring in someone with more knowledge of the game that he has. And that rules any veteran QB out! Besides, Garcia would rather stay in a lessor league with Coach Jagz (oh, wait, Morris says Jagz isn’t a coach) than to come play for this Idiot.
Raheem would rather bring Jamarcus Russell!

  4. McBuc Says:

You guys need to read the rest of the article that Joe is refering to. The Bucs are happy with JJ. Even if they bring in someone else JJ has the QB2 position. The 4th QB would be for depth only. If JJ keeps playing like he did last Saturday, than he will be a fine back up for Freeman. Freeman will play in the opener most likely, so it does not really matter anyway.

  5. McBuc Says:

Oh, and great pic Joe…Write about Garcia any time you want!

  6. Pete Dutcher Says:

Wow, people calling each other dolts, calling coaches idiots…classy posts, guys.

Clearly, the intelligent see that no one will be brought in, simply because a veteran would be competition for the starting job, and neither Dominick, Morris or Olsson want that…and in this case I think it’s rightfully so.

Was there not enough upheaval and controversy last year for you guys? We’ll be fine. I’m not sold on Johnson either, and frankly I think Carpenter has more potential, but it is what it is. Get over it and move on.

No player departure had depressed Joe more than Jeff Garcia leaving.

  8. d-money Says:

Jeff Garcia couldn’t come here even if the Bucs wanted him. He cannot leave his UFL team for the NFL until their season is over.

  9. McBuc Says:

D-money…Not so. Part of the appeal of the UFL to fringe players is their NFL clause. UFL players can leave for the NFL at any time. They learned from other leagues, never go against the NFL. Their league keeps the young undrafted guys and vets in football shape.

  10. McBuc Says:

He is not coming for many other reasons though.

  11. eric Says:

Dom is likely the only GM in the league who would be happy to stand pat with JJ as back up and a total of about ten nfl starts in our stable of QB’s, with one having a broken thumb.

The Keystone cop routine is starting a little early this year.

  12. McBuc Says:

I stand corrected. I once read that the UFL lets players leave for the NFL, and that may have been the case in their first short season. I read on the UFL site that they now can not leave until their UFL contract in complete. Appatrently some NFL GMs are upset about this, because it makes it harder for them to pick up a quick backup.

The caption for this article’s picture should read “shake n’ bake”

    Jeff No! Carmella YES!

  15. REALbucsfan4life Says:

Eric, i hope your the next head coach/GM of the bucs next since you know so much about football. If your going to post negative comments all the time, whats the point of even commenting. Nobody gives a s%#t what you think.

  16. eric Says:

Does re-signing Snead in this situation sound like the move of a winner?

    Brilliant!

    Dominick: “NO”

For some reason, that one word smart ass reply kinda made me mad. Why the hell not Dumbnik?? It’s a BACKUP QB, a guy who’s supposed to come in and win games for the SHORT TERM until Freeman returns from injury. This age thing is freaking bull. Who gives a crap if he’s 40??!! We’re running an offense that he’s familiar with, and Garcia won a lot of games for us here in Tampa. He’d be a good mentor for Freeman!

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, it’s always no to everything from St. Dominick!
