Rudy Carpenter Needs Some Work

One thing Joe does know is that, barring injury, Josh Freeman is your Bucs starting quarterback and Josh Johnson is the No. 2 quarterback.
Currently, Rudy Carpenter is a distant No. 3.
Now Joe has nothing against the guy at all, but it sure seems like Carpenter is either a nervous fellow or totally unsure of himself in the pocket.
Every time Carpenter goes back to pass, he double-pumps. Sometimes that’s after he pats the ball a few times like Joe Namath did.
Carpenter is no Namath.
His play decisions? Well, it appears those need some polish, as well.
During practice this afternoon at One Buc Palace, Joe watched Carpenter throw to Kareem Huggins in the left flat. Huggins was open, but the problem was there were three Bucs defenders bearing down on him like hungry sharks after a steak.
The moment Huggins touched the ball he was destroyed. In short, Carpenter hung Huggins out to dry.
If Joe saw those three Bucs defenders making a beeline towards Huggins before Carpenter released the ball, how come Carpenter couldn’t? Huggins seemed fortunate to get up under his own power.
If Carpenter is pressed into duty early in the season, the Bucs are in deep trouble.

First thing he needs to do is Lose the #12 Jersey. OMG, does that bring back bad memories.

I forgot to mention the pass so poorly thrown that it went into the stands costing the team another 100.00 to give a ball to the poor kid it almost decapitated (assuming there was that much juice on it).

Joe forgot to mention that (but did Twitter it)!
Joe had no idea where Carpenter was throwing that ball. There was no one in the same zip code. That ball went halfway up the bleachers!

It was surprising arm strength out of Rudy. On that dump off to the flat, the ball (which traveled all of 12 yards) was in the air for about 30 minutes)
Now I feel bad.

There are several good veteran QB’s out there that would be easy to sign and that would be a far better and sure backup QB for Freeman. As for Johnson, I like him and think he has a lot of potential, but if Freeman goes down, I can’t see him winning many games. he’s a project, but this year even with Freeman as the starter, I’d like to see him be involved in the offense somehow. he can run and is a fun player to watch

No eric, they’ve got the turnover situation under control. They’ve only installed one offensive play for the entire season. The QB kneel down. Take a knee 3 times and punt. For the D, it’s called “step aside and watch the guy run”. This way we’re guaranteed to lose every game and get the #1 overall next year… that’s what it’s all about, right? Coming in first… in the draft….
Nah, you’d think they improved if they did that gameplan.

Rudy Carpenter put up some good numbers at ASU on a team that was “under-staffed” to put it nicely. He might surprise if given time.
