Win Would Be A Loss For Bucs

December 11th, 2009

Winning a game in the final month of the season likely would be losing a chance to draft Nebraska monster Ndamukong Suh.

The brutal Bucs season has been so miserable, so pathetic, that on a warm, late-fall Florida evening, Joe could swear he’s on a dairy farm.

For Joe hears the constant, not-so-feint cries of “Suh… Suh … Suh… “

The Bucs are now tied with the St. Louis Lambs for having the worst record in the NFL. If the Bucs are tied with either the Lambs or the Cleveland Clowns (or there’s a three-way tie), the Bucs would lose the tiebreakers.

Though there is some doubt who the Lambs and/or Clowns would choose, there’s virtually no question who the Bucs would choose: Nebraska defensive tackle/manbeast Ndamukong Suh.

So with that in mind, Tom Balog of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune writes if not pleads that a win, any win, the rest of the season would in fact be a loss.

A loss of Suh.

All that should matter for the Buccaneers is doing all they can to get the highest possible draft choice.

To do everything possible to position themselves to select Nebraska senior defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh — who could be the most coveted draft prospect — in the first round.

The Heisman Trophy finalist would be the future cornerstone of a Buccaneers defensive line that desperately needs an impact player. If they beat the New York Jets on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, what’s it going to matter?

Joe agrees. Sure, a win on a Caybrew-drenched Sunday afternoon would be cool. But in the long run, it would be terrible.

Its NEVER a bad thing to win. No true fan would advocate losing for a draft pick.

I agree .. Suh Dominates .. But we cannot hope to lose ..

Things happen for a reason .. let the chips fall where they may

Joe I have lost all respect for you. You never lose on purpose I’d love to draft suh but I do not want the bucs to lose I want them to win every week no matter what draft spot we land.

To much Caybrew? We could trade up, if Suh is who we want.

    Joe here,

Don’t mis-read any of this. Not saying the Bucs should start Kareem Huggins, put Aqib Talib on IR, bench Antonio Bryant and give Stylez White the day off to heal his various ailments.

I’ll be rooting for the Bucs as hard as anyone else on Sunday. Just saying that it’ll be no great loss, longterm, if the Bucs lose Sunday. Face it, you’ll all be bummed come draft day if the 3-13 Bucs miss out on the guys we want them to draft.

As much as I want the Bucs to get Suh, THESE Bucs despite their record, will not pack it in. Coaches and players are fighting for the pride and jobs.
Yes, we can always trade up, which might be the case because the way we’ve been playing lately, I think we get a win – or two.
Let’s just hope the Rams and Browns get to 3 wins – gulp.

    Look…….

Malloy has been against this line of thinking because he believes it to be
poison. However another one of Malloy’s favorite “online analysts”
from another board has said the same thing for awhile now….
    ….and now Joe is agreeing……

….ok, so I crack…..I give……lets lose in order to hopefully get Suh.

Malloy believes that Joe has issues w/ the personal pronoun but
finds him to be one of the best online Bucs writers none-the-less.

Ok someone has to be the party buster so I’ll play the part.

FOLKS THE GLAZERS ARE GOING TO TRADE DOWN IN THE DRAFT. PERIOD.

It doesn’t matter if the Bucs have picks 1, 2 or 3 they aren’t going to pay for those size contracts (which to be honest I don’t blame them! $45 million for Stafford with $20 GUARENTEED!!! Outgrageous!)

As for losing to improve ones draft pick – I don’t think that happens with four (4) games left. The final 1 or 2 yes but four???

If the Bucs go 1-15 Raheem’s chances of coming back are less than 20%. Look at ex-Lion coach Rod Marinelli with his 0-16 team.

At this stage of the game I really don’t care if the Bucs win or lose – seriously. If I see improvement – ranging from sound fundamentals like tackling, pass protection, getting a ground game, etc..

What upsets me is asking Freeman to come from behind and win a game on his throwing abilities. I think it gets the kid into a Brett Farve, force the ball into the opening, mindset.

What’s the point in winning 3 games this year and not getting Suh? Seriously! Pride? B/C of your pride you want the Bucs to win 3 games and miss out on a player like this. Who in the Blue Hell will remember us winning 3 games this year? Remember what Sapp did for this franchise? The best thing is to lose the last four games by a field goals or overtime. Have Freeman go interception free, get the running game going, have our run defense keep teams under 100 yards and get the first pick in the draft. LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE!!!!!

  11. Drew Says:

Can they start a rumor Suh tested positive for Mariguana? Then trade down and pick up another 2nd round pick and draft Suh later in the 1st round.
