Do Not Call Him “Radio”

October 27th, 2009

There's no need to call Raheem the Dream any rude or unflattering names.

A commenter tipped Joe off to the following:

Apparently the crowd at the Bucs official message board is starting to get out of hand. Maybe it’s the play of the brutal Bucs that have sent posters over the edge?

Posters there have begun, in increasing numbers it seems, to refer to Raheem the Dream by an unflattering name based upon a character in a football-related movie.

The posters at said message board apparently are so distraught, and have become so restless over the Bucs losing ways, that the administrator of the Bucs official message board has had to put his/her foot down.

We’re kindly asking that folks not use this nickname, and appreciate the understanding.

Posters who refer to Raheem the Dream by the movie character’s name it seems will be met with swift justice.

For the record, Joe does not condone calling Raheem the Dream by the movie character’s name. Joe finds this to be shameful. Joe prefers the nickname he uses for the Bucs first-year head coach.

Joe would that be the term “Rockhead”??? Just asking, so I don’t make the same mistake on every post I write about him. I personally try to stay off the Main Buc Blog.

Radio is a football movie starring Cuba Gooding Jr, and he plays the part a mentally challenged person. Have to be PC in my explanation.

This is old news…happened like six weeks ago.

The date that was posted was 9/4/09. Luv ya Joe, but it must be a slow news day!

  5. Louie Says:

Actually, Leftwich looks more like the movie character Radio. I have many other names for Morris, most of which include four letter words.

  6. Joe Says:

Indeed. Joe didn’t notice the date until someone mentioned it earlier.

I thought Radio referred to a character in the great Spike Lee movie, “Do The Right Thing.” The character was called Radio Raheem. There’s not football in that movie, though.

I haven’t seen the Cuba Gooding movie.

  8. Radio Raheem Says:

Attention Attention” The nickname “Radio” is not from the Cuba Gooding movie.

It’s from “Do the Right Thing” with Spike Lee. There is a character
Anybody that makes fun of disabled is completely sick.

    This icalled “Radio Raheem”.

It has nothing to do with the movie “Radio.”

Radio Raheem quote from DO The Right Thing: Let me tell you the story of “Right Hand, Left Hand.” It’s a tale of good and evil. Hate: It was with this hand that Cane iced his brother. Love: These five fingers, they go straight to the soul of man. The right hand: the hand of love. The story of life is this: Static. One hand is always fighting the other hand; and the left hand is kicking much ass. I mean, it looks like the right hand, Love, is finished. But, hold on, stop the presses, the right hand is coming back. Yeah, he got the left hand on the ropes, now, that’s right. Ooh, it’s the devastating right and Hate is hurt, he’s down. Left-Hand Hate K.O.ed by Love.
Sounds like the retarded Radio fits better.

And now PFT has picked it up!

  12. Joe Says:

Guess this, and Florio’s post, proves how many people have seen a Spike Lee film compared to a Cuba Gooding, Jr. movie.

And the Cuba Gooding, Jr. movie was very good.

Joe has not seen the Spike Lee production in question.

The reference to “Radio Raheem” In “Do the Right Thing” is pure mockery.

That character in D.T.R.T was a complete idiot and a cartoon character.

Thus the reference to the current Buc Coach.

  16. oar Says:

I was going to use another Radio Raheem quote from “Do” about batteries(C or D size), but every other word would have to be sensored.

Anyways, it’s sounds like both could be used in reference to the Buc coach!

  17. oar Says:

    anyways, “it” sounds like ….sorry

But baby think of me once in awhile.

    I’m at WKRP in Cincinnati..

You apparently missed the flame war between The Official Buc’s BBS and BucsChat.com several weeks ago. That was one for the ages.

  21. Sgt Mike Says:

Raheem and the “Band of Idiots” any way you call it it adds up to a bad coach and crew!!

  22. oldskoolbucsfan Says:

Oh, I thought that they must have thought Raheem was mixed up with Coach Boone of the movie “Remember the Titans”. Oh wait a minute, that coach WON all of his games, and our coach…………………. well, you know 🙂

  23. Paul Says:

It originated from Do the Right Thing, Radio Raheem, but wow. That pic you posted on the story makes him the movie Radio.

You can be 100% wrong and post that pic and still win. Thanks, good laughs man.
