“Vivid And Painful Memory”

March 3rd, 2015

hardyIt’s quite clear that bad guy superstar defensive end Greg Hardy will hit free agency.

The Panthers don’t want him after his public case of girlfriend terrorizing ended in a misdemeanor conviction, which was followed by North Carolina courts tossing his case.

After the NFL forced Hardy to sit with pay for 15 games last season, it’s likely the NFL will let Hardy return in 2015. When exactly, however, is unknown. But whatever the day, he’ll come back as a very well rested, healthy 26-year-old or 27-year-old manbeast.

Tampa Bay needs a dangerous rusher off the right edge. Yesterday, former Bucs defensive tackle Booger McFarland was Twittering that the Bucs don’t need a Ndamukong Suh on their defensive line, they need a “Greg Hardy type” pass rusher.

No argument from Joe.

Hardy shouldn’t be expensive. He’ll likely sign a one-year deal somewhere so he can prove he can behave, and then break the bank next offseason.

Joe enjoyed this NBC video breakdown (below) of the edge rusher market in free agency. Former Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride talked about how Hardy, when motivated, is one of the nastiest matchups in the NFL, a “vivid and painful memory.”

Perhaps the only other accomplished pass rusher the Bucs could target is Jerry Hughes of Buffalo, if he hits the market.

Joe’s a little leery of Hughes, however, despite consecutive 10-sack seasons. He played alongside three Pro Bowlers in Buffalo on the defensive line, which might have helped his numbers a little too much.

Greg Hardy, Jerry Hughes, Jabal Shareed, Brandon Graham

we need one of these guys

  2. Harry Says:

I would LOVE to have Hardy on the Bucs with McCoy. What a sweet addition he would be to our DL

  3. TbDEPRESSEDFAN Says:

I’d take hardy over any of our DE’s. The over paid ghost is just a damn shame. If we can’t get some pressure on the quarterback it’s just going to be the same ol’ sh!t. The Tampa 2 cannot work without a disruptive front 4. If that defensive front isn’t getting to the QB he will have all day to expose the Tampa 2 defense by throwing in the middle of the field or down the sidelines which is its weakness. That’s why last year we got lit up in the passing game.

  4. Nybucsfan Says:

Joe really? Is this the lonest yard? Do you have morals? There is no denying what he did. It’s on tape but you don’t care cause he payed her off.

  5. robert 9 Says:

    sign him!!!

  6. ADown88 Says:

With the fact that we are going to draft Jameis, I don’t think we will pursue Hardy. Jerry Hughes would be perfect though.

  7. BrianDorry55 Says:

    Brandon Graham.

  8. The Only Other Buc Fan in Montana Says:

I like Graham personally. Clean, possibly affordable, was just in the wrong scheme in Philly.

  9. ak427er Says:

I like his game. He is a beast but I have heard more than one person say that this guy is completely off his rocker.

  10. TbDEPRESSEDFAN Says:

Nybucsfan. I would rather have the guys from the longest yard if it meant we could win. Lol. We haven’t been able to scare the opposing offense. At least if we had the guys from the longest yard they would fear being gang raped and becoming our b!tch lol

  11. ManzielMadness Says:

Exactly, he’ll be cheap for next year, GMC and Hardy on our line would help lift the performances of others on the DL and hope light a fire under MJ. Hardy might jump at the chance to play carolina twice a year too…

  12. Skyline Crew Says:

If there is anybody who is against Winston because of his character issues, yet want Hardy should not talk anymore.

  13. Skyline Crew Says:

We might as well bring in AP and Ray Rice while we are at it. Then we can really have some PR. Oh, and don’t forget to sign Dez as well.

  14. TbDEPRESSEDFAN Says:

Skyline one can ont wish we could bring ap, hardy, rice, and Bryant. Lol.

  15. robert 9 Says:

hardy and winston are not comparable. hardy owned up, paid his dues…paid her off whatever.

meanwhile winston has eluded it entirely, then boasted etc, etc…..

it’s called being a man vs. an immature child.

hell yes bring in AP. ray rice…….well when there’s video, and in that case it looked pretty damn unprovoked…that might be a little harder to overcome. and we already have his twin in martin

  16. DallasBuc Says:

Hardy?…nah, let’s just keep Johnson because there is too much guaranteed and the egos of Lovie and lapdog take precedence over good football players

  17. DallasBuc Says:

The morality police squad is on the prowl…watch out!

  18. Skyline Crew Says:

I’m curious why you guys want to reward domestic abusers? Sure Ray and AP got in trouble. AP still thinks he did nothing wrong. Ray admitted and probably got the worst punishment. Hardy was able to weasel out of it. The only one I would want of those three is Ray because he owned up and was punished for it. The others got a vacation from the league for a year with nothing coming of it.

  19. ADown88 Says:

    @Robert9

Have you ever listened to yourself?? There is no way you actually believe your own logic.

  20. Skyline Crew Says:

Bryant was franchised tagged so we can’t get him.

  21. Eric Says:

Absolutely sign the man, and draft Jameis.

  22. Couch Fan Says:

hardy and winston are not comparable. hardy owned up, paid his dues…paid her off whatever.

meanwhile winston has eluded it entirely, then boasted etc, etc…..

    ————————————————–

Your right they arent comparable. One had a trial and the other one was never even charged. One paid his dues and the other had nothing to pay for because there was no evidence. Accept in the fantasticly stupid court of public opinion. Woooooooooooooooo Keep spewing your stupidity.

  23. scott Says:

Screw it lets just trade MJ for AP. Send his butt back to Zimmer

  24. Sapp STFU Says:

All of you whining about character issues, go form a church group. This is football. We get 16 games a year to prove we are worthy of play-offs and a Superbowl. Unless they are doing Aaron Hernandez/Darren Sharper stuff, STFU and let the team bring in winners.

If they turn out to be a Hernandez or Sharper-type, cut them.

Give tight contracts with exit clauses.

  25. ddneast Says:

Yes, Hardy did knock around his girlfriend.
She was so traumatized by the event she had to go skiing in Vail, Co., and shopping in New York City to repair the emotional damage.
I’m getting a little tired of all this outrage generated in support of a pack of cleat chasers who only hook up with these athletes in order to exploit them in some manner.
Usually it’s by getting knocked up so they can make 60k a year in child support so they don’t have to work a meaningless bar tending or secretarial job.
The only problem with that idea is as soon as the guy gets out of football, the child support payments stop and the taxpayer is on the hook to raise their bastard and failed business scheme.

  26. JSmalls Says:

Hell with wins, Skyline wants to win the PR Bowl…

  27. Brandon Says:

I would much rather have Hardy on a prove it deal than Suh on some type of discount.

I keep seeing LUVMY posting about Thomas and Randle and Sapp and Culpepper comparisons… That isn’t the point. Randle and Sapp were the studs and Thomas and Pep were the firestarters… Suh is a stud on his own right. IF we were to sign Suh we would likely see a lot of McCoy at LDE as Clinton McDonald is a pretty good firestarter in his own right.

What we need is an edge presence… like Hardy.

  28. ddneast Says:

    Robert 9 has no logic.
But he states he boasted about the alleged rape.
Prove it Robert 9. I have read nowhere where Winston bragged about the event. Please post or cite a credible link which supports this statement.
I will continue to press you on this matter util you do so.

If there is anybody who is against Winston because of his character issues, yet want Hardy should not talk anymore.

I truly agree with this post.

But, the argument that is made is that, “oh, well, we’re not spending a draft pick on him so it’s different.”

We might as well bring in AP and Ray Rice while we are at it. Then we can really have some PR. Oh, and don’t forget to sign Dez as well.

…and just like that, you lost me again… lol

I have no problem keeping Johnson, even if we bring in Hardy. The cap savings aren’t great enough for just cutting him. No need to get rid of ALL our depth. I believe we can cut Johnson after next year with no reprocusions.

  33. Bama Rich Says:

Am I the only person tired of having a “nice” team that lose all the time? How many of us have made mistakes and have been given a second chance? Sign Hardy and watch our secondary improve drastically!

This is one instance where one simple letter, I, makes a HUGE difference.

    *******

Yes, forgive me that I won’t sell my soul for a win. I don’t want a child beater nor a woman beater on my team. It doesn’t surprise me that you would want them though. You probably beat children and women as well. Probably had a fund raiser for these dirt bags.

  38. Skyline Crew Says:

Hardy flung her from a bed, threw her into a bathtub and tossed her onto a futon covered with rifles. Holder said Hardy ripped a necklace he had given her off her neck, threw it into a toilet and slammed the lid on her arm when she tried to retrieve it.

Hardy dragged Holder by the hair room to room, she said, before putting his hands around her throat.

“He looked me in my eyes and he told me he was going to kill me,” Holder said. “I was so scared I wanted to die. When he loosened his grip slightly, I said, ‘Just do it. Kill me.’ ”

Later, as Holder said she was held by her former boyfriend’s personal assistant, she said Hardy made a 911 call, showed her the phone, and said, “Run, little girl. You’re going to jail.”

    Judge Tin found Hardy guilty.

  39. Couch Fan Says:

If it were up to some of yous, half of our team would be a no show on Sundays because they would be to busy attending Sunday Church Services. But aye, who cares about little things like winning when the alter boys assume the position on time.

  40. Celly Says:

    @Skyline,

While I will say that what AP did crossed the line, I have no problem with beating kids.

The only issue i have with AP was the fact that i feel his son was too young to be beat with a switch.

And this is coming from someone that grew up in a Jamaican household and was beat with a switch before.

  41. Skyline Crew Says:

    @Celly,

I have no problem with disciplining a child or spanking them. What AP did was way over the line and wrong. The fact that he saw no problem with it is what gets me.

  42. Arealbucsfan Says:

Jerry Hughes played on a dline with Mario Williams and Marcel Dareus. Id expect poor play put of him if he were to come here

  43. Skyline Crew Says:

    @Couch Fan

You do know that there are great players out there that don’t beat women nor kids, right? Or do you only think players that do that are the good ones? Suh is a violent character as well as Clay Matthews, but they don’t beat women and children.

  44. Couch Fan Says:

    ————————————————

Are any of them available that would be better than hardy or Winston or Suh? No. My point exactly. Get the best players to help us win. This isnt a morality contest. If they are not in jail or not going to jail anytime soon, let em play. Tired of seeing these guys go to teams and watching them win. Time for us to win.

I think it’ll be a situation EXACTLY like when Atlanta thought they were getting a beast in Ray Edwards.

When you play next to the Williams wall and have Jared Allen on the other side, you should rack up some sacks.

  46. bucs4lyfe Says:

    @robert 9

LOL your character is questionable or is it your mental state? nah it’s both and that’s being kind. if you don’t like Winston say you don’t like him and anyone here can respect that lol but to say sign hardy because he owned up to his baggage? FYI he was convicted of this crime so how could he do anything except own up to it. lol that’s like forgiving A-Rod for owning up to HGH, you have issues my friend……joe you attract too many guys like Robert, it’s really disturbing

  47. bucs4lyfe Says:

you sign Jerry Hughes end of story……yes he played next too pro bowlers but that’s why NFL teams get paid big money, it’s why they do the work and we sit and watch, it’s why they make the moves we can only criticize. you still have to evaluate him as a player, if he got double digit sacks joe it means he actually took advantage of the freedom playing along side probowlers gave him which is the type of player we need on the defensive line

    ———————

No, Winston was quoting an incredibly stupid YouTube bit where some old guy was getting interviewed and out of the blue yelled, “Effed her right in the P!” and then it was copied and parodied, etc. Winston, by no means, claimed he raped her when he yelled that. You keep digging that hole of stupidity deeper and deeper, aren’t you?

  49. Zam Says:

    No thugs for me thanks

  50. Lord Cornelius Says:

I’m personally not a big fan of signing Greg Hardy. The evidence was against him; and he sounds like a pure psycopath if you lead the Skyline narrative. And the damn Judge ruled against him. I don’t see much difference between what he’s done and what Ray Rice did when it comes to morality. If anything Hardy seems crazier based on the types of things he’s said; although I’m sure Rice has said some messed up things.

LMAO @ Robert 9. At this point the dude has lost it. I feel like we already addressed how INSANE it is to think Winston literally was bragging about rape when shouting an internet meme. That he was intentionally publicly bragging about rape. INSANE!!!!!!! When we all know that the phrase was a popular internet joke. But nope in crazy Robert 9 world it makes more sense to think a guy would yell and brag about rape.

Also according to Robert 9; “owning up” / “being a man” is about actually being guilty of something and paying off a victim to avoid a harsh sentence. If you are ever accused of a crime you didn’t commit; or a crime with no evidence to support you did anything wrong; you are being an “immature child”. LOL

Skyline. A child beater. Really? Sh!t growing up I go my ass beat for some of the bad decisions I made in my younger years. Back then they didn’t call it abuse, they called it being corrective actions. But you know what? I never did that sh!t again. Yea it left a mark. The man weighs 220lbs of pure muscle. He doesn’t know his own strength. So if you have never hit you child because your a saint then that’s fine. But for those of us like AP who had the harsh beatings it is all we know. Even one of our greatest Buccaneers of all time mr. Derrick brpoks said that he thanks his father for coming into his classroom and beating his a$$. He said it was then that I changed the direction of his life. Does anyone know what his son did to deserve the beating. NO! Everyone that criticizes others without knowing the whole story are such Hippocrates. so if you were not there SHUT YOUR MOUTHS AND ENJOY WATCHING Football from the comfort of your couch and have a beer.

  53. Skyline Crew Says:

If the NFL says Hardy is eligible to play – then bring him in for a serious talk. If you come away from that feeling OK about him – then sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal if the price is reasonable.
