Report: Winston’s Wing Not Serious

February 20th, 2015

The media center of the NFL Combine blew up about an hour ago when Chris Mortensen of BSPN stated a reason Winston’s medicals are taking so much longer than other players’ is because Winston has experienced a weak throwing shoulder.

Per Winston’s personal quarterback coach, that was all news to him, though he did not discredit Mort’s report.

Now, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com chimes in with news that doctors took Winston to a local hospital to further study his shoulder and it doesn’t appear serious.

And yes, for those unfamiliar with Winston, he is a baseball pitcher and a pretty good one at that.

Folks in frozen Indianapolis are still waiting for Winston to appear for his now day-delayed press conference.

Don’t really care…don’t want him with the 1st overall pick…don’t want him with the 1st overall pick…don’t want him with the 1st overall pick…don’t want him with the 1st overall pick…don’t want him with the 1st overall pick

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Good…..want Mariota to beat him “again” fair & square…..

  3. al121976 Says:

I am just wondering if it could be an issue that reappears in the future. Because he has played to sports that require a lot of hard throwing, I also wonder how much wear n tear is on that shoulder? will it shorten his career?

  4. carlstoe Says:

Someone was too rough with him last night! Joe you are stronger than you realize!

Clearly a conspiracy to draw attention away from his evil plot to unleash winged monkeys amongst the combine attendees while he drills a nuclear weapon into the earth’s core all while leading ISIS from behind the scenes.

Just another red flag for Winston. Weakness near the nerve is not good and should not be overlloked as it is usually a reoccuring condition

  11. Lovie equals 2015 Blackouts Says:

Joe… days like this I am glad I read your site… keep us abreast of this interview.

  13. Luther Says:

I would bet money that Elway and Lynch both experienced this at times. Haters find any reason at all to further their cause.

  14. MarshallU Says:

Hopefully the Bucs don’t waste that #1 pick on a QB with an imperfect shoulder

  15. lurker Says:

good interview with george whitfield jr, qb engineer, on nflnow. of course, nothing negative really on winston or petty. however, interesting tidbit about how winston would have reportedto baseball 2 days after the rose bowl game. winston said this is the longest in his life that he has been a fulltime football player. winston has been competing while in football half the time. winston is excited to see how far he can go doing football 100%.

  16. lurker Says:

smh…look at the haters beeing foolish and silly.

  17. lurker Says:

  20. Nybucsfan Says:

Where did that say it wasn’t serious

  21. Nybucsfan Says:

Is th medical on all the players 2 days

  22. lurker Says:

“I’m here to win games and be the face of someone’s franchise. I plan on winning the Super Bowl next year.” -Jameis Winston

  25. lurker Says:

nybucsfan is here and cue the haters…

  26. Bird Says:

It’s funny… that seems pretty important to me. Had to be taken to hospital for second opinion for weak shoulder. Which delayed his interviews. And has been playing baseball all his life using same shoulder as football. That shoulder has been taking some abuse. I have played volleyball most my life and my right hitting shoulder has serious problems and left non hitting shoulder is fine.
It’s just funny joe. This doesn’t scare you. Sorry brother but you have your blinders on for this guy. Again I want them to pick the right QB who will help them when the most games and I do favor mariota slightly. But if this was mariota you would have been all over him. Cmon man.

  27. Dave Pear Says:

Outstanding press conference. Very impressive young man.
Learn to like him Robert9. He’s coming to Tampa Bay.
    It’s as simple as that.

  28. Nybucsfan Says:

Lol haters just wondering where is said its not serious. I think anything to do with two day medical on a QB shoulder is serious

  29. DavidM Says:

Its a big red flag! Injuries accumulate- scar tissue and neuropathies develop in particular small muscle groupings causing a compensation and over use of the non injured muscles. These kind of small injuries lead to the major career ending ones. See it every week at my clinic.

  30. lurker Says:

are you a doctor, david? have you seen the imaging? you do not know anything.

  31. lurker Says:

in an interview on espn, bill polian said it is not uncommon for players to get a follow up imaging. polian said it is not a red flag until doctors say it is. polian said gm’s will not overreact, though sal paolantonio and adam schefter wanted to overreact.

  32. carlstoe Says:

What did he say about lieing, stealing and vandalism?

  33. BCoburn Says:

While a lot of people are not concerned about it or just trying to write it off it is just another of a long string of things that ‘could’ be issues. At some point you have to think that the odds of one of them being a problem is getting higher.

  34. Roscoe The Pirate Says:

It’s a repetative strain injury from hiding crab legs in his armpit

  35. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

So, is it even a real injury? Or an excuse to get out of throwing at the combine?

Say you’ll throw, then fake an injury to get out of it. Something to hide I reckon.

  36. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

Hey, remember like two hours ago when the HATERS were telling us Jameis wasn’t going to throw because his arm was going to be amputated after he faked an injury?

    Good times
