Long time reader, first time poster.

It was good to hear the Joes back on with Duemig, bringing balance and logic to the conversation when Steve’s chooses to suspend his fragile hold on logic; almost always on the topic of Bucs QBs I don’t know why I was surprised but I was when in the midst of discussing Winston vs Mariota, Duemig felt compelled to take another shot at Glennon. This shot along with his previous moveable yard markers of why MG sucked so much worse than McCown when in truth both were just dreadful in 2014. Through it all I have come to firmly believe that Glennon’s greatest sin, in Big Dog’s mind and the reason for his obvious hate, was being named the starter in 2013, replacing Dog’s friend, Josh Freeman. And being named the starter by Greg Schiano, earned Glennon double the scorn. From my perspective, all Glennon had done to that point and since, was to work his ass off in trying to be the best teammate and NFL quarterback that he could be. So his results fell short…to this point. I dare say that regardless of what the future holds for MG, I doubt that we will be thinking that his poor choices in life led any of us to shake our heads about what a waste of talent and a wasted career MG had.

I appreciate what you guys bring to the Big Dog’s show, especially when your counterpoints result in him raising his voice louder and louder, as if he who argues louder wins. Not since the playground, Stevie boy, as far as that’s concerned.

Do you think if we draft Jamies and he just busts his ass hard in ota training camp works real hard with his teammates and just becomes that fiery leader we so desperately need to give the bucs an national image… Do you think we still have the 5th worst QB in the south? Lmao

  3. Joe Says:

Do you think we still have the 5th worst QB in the south? Lmao

Gotta prove it on the field, first. Joe has a hard time believing Winston right now is worse than McCown.

  4. Lovie equals 2015 Blackouts Says:

I would cringe watching Jameis Winston hold up a super bowl trophy giving unintelligible post game interviews.

    I seriously would.

Not sure if I can relate to that type of Buc team.

I am to Jameis Winston as Steve D is to Mike Glennon.

  5. Matt Says:

Lol @ “as far as that’s concerned”

  6. Matt Says:

    @Lovie=
I was going to respond w a well thought out retort, but I’ll just say that your post is ridiculous at best and idiotic/racist at worst.

  7. Meat Says:

It’s not racist for him to say Jameis cannot communicate or enunciate properly…

  8. IStillbleedOrange Says:

No, it wasn’t. I too have winced at the idea of Winston doing the Post game interview with the Press, and (face palm) Buccaneers Total Access weekly radio show. I would repeat what I just said even if Winston was a down home corn fed white boy…if you can’t articulate or come across as an intelligent human being, it doesn’t matter what color you are. If you come across a certain way, even if it isn’t the way it is, many people are going to automatically choose to believe it, and will demonize you for it.

On top of all the other pressures and issues this team has, having our “Face of the Franchise” come across as a simpleton is not something we should have to deal with.

And, it would have been better to respond with that “well thought out retort” instead of showing yourself to be nothing more than an assuming Lemming, going with the flow of traffic declaring “racism” for all the world to see. How unimaginative, how simplistic…how disappointing. And no, I’m not a white guy.

  9. Cascade Says:

Was Koetter responsible for Akili Smith? Huh? What, so getting a guy drafted in the first round after success in college would be a negative? Doesn’t matter that Akili Smith was a bust in the pros… Anyway, I don’t even know if Koetter coached him, but it’s an idiotic question anyway.

Don’t think there was anything negative about the Akili Smith reference. Think you read into that.–Joe

  10. The True Buc Fan Says:

This draft is reap simple. Winston #1, than do whatever it takes to get either OT Ereck Flowers, or ILB Bernardrick Mckinney. Wow. Please. And read up on the two I mentioned. Perfect fits here.

  11. Patrick in VA Says:

@istillbleedorange- the NFL hasn’t gotten ahold of Winston and given him his book of clichés and nothing statements yet. Once he gets to the league we won’t have to worry about him having to formulate his own thoughts anymore. And no, what you said was not race related. There are plenty of interviews done by black quarterbacks where slang or urban language is used and it doesn’t make them sound dumb. The way Winston, specifically, speaks makes him sound dumb. That doesn’t matter at other positions. Gronkowski is a neanderthal, both in the way he speaks and the way he behaves, but he’s not the QB and he doesn’t have to speak nearly as often as Winston will. It makes a difference

  12. Pickgrin Says:

Winston is from Alabama – that’s how people talk where he is from. He has been an excellent student his entire life and is certainly not dumb or unintelligent. Derrick Brooks sounds about the same as Winston when he speaks. Do you cringe when you listen to him speak?

So some of you are saying that we shouldn’t draft the best and most talented QB because you don’t like how he talks and are afraid he will make the franchise look bad doing interviews? Sorry but there are some serious racial undertones to that way of thinking.

  13. Patrick in VA Says:

@pickgrin- you’re hearing what you want to hear. Nobody said anything about his race. You said yourself that that’s how people from Alabama talk. Not black people from Alabama but people. It has nothing to do with what color his skin is. And nobody said we shouldn’t draft him because of his speaking abilities. We were simply pointing out how difficult it is to listen to.

I’ve called out folks on here plenty of times when there were instances of people being discriminatory about racial or sexuality issues. This isn’t one of those times.

  14. Patrick in VA Says:

And can we stop talking about this kid’s GPA as though a Heisman trophy winning, national championship winning QB at a school like Florida state has written a single paper for himself. You’re taught not to put sentences together in the manner he does in elementary school. If I turned in a paper back in college with sentences strung together that resembled the things that come out of his mouth, I would have been asked to leave. Winston had a supporting cast that put together a 3.0 GPA. Let’s live in the real world folks

    ==================================

Exactly why me and the wife stopped watching the NBA, when they started drafting HS kids who could barely speak the language they grew up with we gave up…

It’s really a silly argument on the NBA. Very few “high school kids” have been drafted, and not all of those had limited education. See Kobe Bryant, who was multilingual when he entered the league.–Joe

  16. flmike Says:

And if anybody would like to call me a racist for my last comment, send me your email and I’ll send you a family picture…

  17. flmike Says:

    @Joe,
it was more of a cultural shift that the NBA went thru when they started allowing the drafting of HS and one year wonders, led by Iverson…the old NBA of Jordan, Magic, Larry and Jabbar was what brought middle aged white guys into the arenas, the new NBA has literally been abandoned by those guys, the ones with enough disposable income to go to NBA games. There was an NBA GM openly lamenting this just a month or two ago…

Don’t buy the argument. Sorry. –Joe

  18. DB55 Says:

Not for nothing but have you heard mccown try to put a sentence together? He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed either. That is when he’s not crying on the podium or showing up with a raggedy ass T-shirt on. But hey different expectations for different people I guess. I find it just as hard to relate to THAT TYPE of bucs team too.

  19. Trevor Says:

great to hear Joe on wdae. (Joe won’t allow Duemig bashing here. Sorry.–Joe)

  20. AK Says:

@Drew44 agreed- only reason I could think for someone to despise such an innocuous figure (also, the person doing the despising is a drop down angry drunk)

  21. Patrick in VA Says:

@db55 – nobody is spending a #1 pick on McCown nor are they hoping to see him be the face of the franchise for the next 10 years

  22. Zam Says:

Always a good time. And I learned that Mariota despite the spelling is pronounced Mary-ah-doe.

  23. bee Says:

    Michael Turner!

  24. LargoBuc Says:

I dont get why Duemig thinks so lowly of Glennon. As the only Bucs qb to win in Pittsburgh Glennon has earned my respect.
