Seeking More Than “A Few Bursts”

December 19th, 2014

charles sims 1212Individually, Buccaneers have loads to play for Sunday — job security, pride and the suffering home fans.

One unit that has plenty of guys still proving themselves and angling for the blessing of the regime is the running backs.

At Carolina on Sunday, Doug Martin had his best game since Sept. 2013. Charles Sims looked his career best, too. Luke Kuechly’s ankles are still hurting after Sims broke them with a sweet juke in a hole.

Bobby Rainey, the Bucs’ leading rusher, is healthy. And second-year man Mike James is trying to make the most of his rare chances.

Veteran Ch. 10, WTSP-TV sportscaster Dave Wirth is back with his weekly video preview for JoeBucsFan.com readers below:

Wirth is searching for things to watch with interest on Sunday against the Packers, among them are more than “a few bursts” from Martin and Sims. Joe’s also very curious to see who, if anyone, emerges out of the backfield.

Enjoy.

I won’t be surprised to see the Bucs run on the Packers, pass on them too.

    frack the pack!

so do we still have the #1 overall? technically, the titans do since they played already.

with buffalo’s win over the pack, the packers are tied with the lions. the packers need to win. we might be lambs at a slaughter.

  4. DB55 Says:

Martin + Simms = the worst one two punch combo I’ve ever seen. Simms did juke the hell out of lukely but Simms is the 5th best RB on roster if you include josh.

  5. OB Says:

I think we are going to make two things, one two receivers with over 1000 yards and McCown with at least two turnovers.

The only person on the coaching staff who actually wants a win is the OC.

He is the only one who is going to be out of a job when the season is over.

    Fire Lovie.

Someone, anyone please verify or deny the talk that Chicago is offering Cutler for our first and second round picks…….please say it isn’t so, I can see lovie doing this, please say it is not so.

  8. NewTampaChris Says:

Every year we read that in the last couple of games, many Bucs are playing for their jobs. Yet every year, our roster seems to get worse instead of better.

  9. Louis Friend Says:

    @NewTampaChris

Around here we call that progress. Fighting for the #1 pick in the draft is much better than making the playoffs. Who needs all that stress and excitement?

I don’t keep up with Vegas like a certain afternoon sports radio host.

Can somebody tell me the over/under on McCown turnovers this weekend?

    I like the number three.

  11. Fort Myers Dave Says:

StPeteBucsFan: I think there should also be a proposition in Vegas on whether McNown commits a turnover on his first possession of the second half or when in the red zone. That action will probably have takers. As for the radio show host with all the Vegas insider knowledge: the guy reminds me of overnight host Scott Ferrall on CBS radio (dude sounds like Krusty the Clown from the Simpson’s) in the way he claims to nail almost every wager he makes. If these guys are actually hitting over two/thirds of the action ts they claim, why do they still need to enlighten us with all their sports knowledge????

  12. BoJim Says:

Sims is a rookie who has only played the last half of the season. Why get down on him? Bet he get’s better next year.

No way Bucs trade a #1, 2, 3, or 4 for Cutler, I honestly can’t see the Glazers signing off an that
