Taunting

Again, a touchdown pass resulted in a flag for taunting. This one was different than Austin Seferian-Jenkins clearly violating a known NFL no-no by using the football for a prop, while he preened a pose as if he was on a bottle of rum.

Yesterday, it was Mike Evans’ turn.

Some Bucs fans suggest this is not taunting. The NFL strongly disagrees. Mike Pereira explains what the NFL deems taunting in this FOX Sports video.

Let the lazy chorus of “No Fun League” begin.

Why is it a lazy chorus?

  2. DallasBuc Says:

It was hardly a flagrant taunt. He was jawing and scored on a guy he is competing against. I have no problem with it.
Shame what this league has turned into and what constitutes a penalty these days.

  3. DallasBuc Says:

And who gives damn what this miserable shill for the Goodell era league has to say? Can’t stand that guy.

  4. Joe Says:

Why is it a lazy chorus?

Because it is dumb and terribly inaccurate.

  5. Joe Says:

And who gives damn what this miserable shill for the Goodell era league has to say?

    Joe does.

If you choose to be willfully ignorant, that’s your call.

  6. Gooberville Says:

Yet Sherman can run his mouth all across the field at Crabtree. If it was consistent it would be one thing but refs can just as easily let it go and pull player aside and give them a stern warning . It’s BS.

  7. DallasBuc Says:

Why is it terribly inaccurate and how am I willingly ignorant?

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I guess mooning the guy is out of the question!!!

  9. Robert 9 Says:

more evidence of a badly coached team. a team that knows nothing of winning.

just shameful self promotion. not many players or coaches on this team that are not in it FOR ONLY THEIR OWN PERSONAL GAIN.

this is no team. it’s a steaming pile of dung with a good amount of talent. just sad.

  10. Espo Says:

It’s not posing as if on top of a bottle of rum. It’s a rum barrel. So embarrassing.

  11. NewTampaChris Says:

Any shred of sportsmanship or professionalism among players in the NFL has vanished. Guys blowing out ACLs celebrating sacks, barking like animals after making basic tackles, woofing after TDs. It’s not “emotion” and it’s not “fun” — it’s being a jackass.

  12. bucrightoff Says:

Undisciplined, poorly coached teams do this. They know, or should know the rule. You can hate the rule all you want, it is the rule. That the Bucs keep getting drilled for it is idiocy from the players, coaches, or both.

  13. DallasBuc Says:

Lovie Smith is taunting Bucs fans by intentionally starting Trash McCown every week. Penalize his ass.

  14. BucfaninMi Says:

It seems like the penalties are very arbitrary, what team and who you are, play’s heavily in whether or not the flag is thrown! TY Hilton using the ball as a prop should have been flagged!

  15. buccochris Says:

Did TY Hilton of the Colts get flagged for using the football as a prop yesterday after his score? He cradled it and stroked it as a homage to his newborn baby. Still, the ball was a ‘prop’, no different than ASJ standing on it vs the Falcons.

  16. buc4lyfe Says:

Did you see how mike Evans abused that guy? That was with the taunting penalty

  17. gbuc Says:

Did T.Y. Hilton get a penalty for using the ball as a prop? Why is the Lambeau leap still legal? The NFL is sucking the fandom out of me. Sigh!

  18. Buccfan37 Says:

I saw that player holding the ball and looking down rubbing it after scoring also. I thought it was a Bear’s player, but I was switching back and forth to the other televised game to escape the commercial bombardment. Anyway that was also using the ball as a prop. Evan’s penalty was complete BS also. The official was too far away to hear what was said. Just penalty overkill ruining the game. I agree the commish is repulsive and needs to get the boot.

DallasBuc. Now that’s is funny. you are right on man!!!

  20. BigEl Says:

Crapy teams get crapy refs. These guys are not the A,B or C team. Same goes for the announcers.

  21. Dave Pear Says:

There may be no I in TEAM but there sure as hell is an ME!

  22. Mike J Says:

Gooberville, how does Sherman continually get away with grabbing, poking, prodding, & generally handling receivers all the way down the field??

  23. billy buckaroo Says:

When the whole team has to fight to get every single yard they can,
giving away 15 yards just to be a showoff probably didn’t cut it to well with the rest of the team.
    DUMB STUFF

  24. DB55 Says:

    Mike j

On an episode of game breakers or American muscle Sherman said he’s never been called for grabbing rvc by the arm or “flesh” as he said. He said as long as you stay off clothing you can usually get away with grabbing and arm wrestling.

  25. Warren Says:

Joe telling off your readers because they don’t agree wih your opinion is what’s ignorant. What do DB’s constantly do when they shut a guy down? Jaw in his face. Turn around is fair play. We get stupid b.s call after stupid b.s. call go against us so excuse us fans for being DISGUSTED with the state of officiating in this league. Not blaming refs for our losses but they damn sure don’t do us any favors!!

  26. DallasBuc Says:

Warren- the Joe’s don’t much care for me so it’s nothing new.

  27. Zam Says:

I get the feeling Bucs players are just generally dumb… can’t learn the system, can’t obey the rules.

Perhaps it’s ADD and they just need to get Adderall for everyone.

  28. LJ'sDaddy Says:

while I agree the rules are stupid. The rules are the rules. Players should show a little class and do their job with professionalism. When you are two and 9 you shouldn’t be jawing to anyone. You should get your ass back to the huddle. Even when you make a good play. Do it again and again and again. When you are nine and two, in the playoff hunt, and legitimate then you can talk.

  29. unbelievable Says:

Gimme a break joe that was a weak-ass penalty call. Did u watch the saints vs ravens last night? Those guys were throwing eachother around and jawing and talking ish after every single snap. The only time it was flagged was when Steve smith and Kenny vacarro literally dragged eachother off
The field into teams sideline fighting with eachother. Those calls are subjective, and not enforced with any consistency. Ty Hilton used the ball as a prov Sunday and was not flagged. The NFL hates the Bucs, they always have.
