Alterraun Verner discussed an opportunity lost yesterday in Chicago.

Yesterday, when Tampa Bay had bratty Jay Cutler and the Bears scoreless at halftime, it sure seemed like the day belonged to the Bucs, even in the rain and the slop of Soldier Field.

Alas, it was not. Josh McCown turned into Josh McCown, the turnover-happy signal-caller, and the Bears rallied for a 21-13 win.

Yes, Bucs players were mad and upset after the game, but in a strange sense seemed used to and resigned to losing. Cornerback Alterraun Verner bemoaned an opportunity lost — again.

“Oh, no question. No question,” Verner said. “We were up 10-0 going into halftime. It is definitely a missed opportunity. Same with the Saints. You cannot be up in this league especially our team which takes pride in your defense, and let the game slip away. That is something we have to fix.”

As far as the ugly turnovers that cost them the game, Verner suggested it was the Bucs’ responsibility to force more than they committed.

“We are capable of it, we just have to do it,” Verner said.

    Decision to start McGarbage:

“Whoever did that, don’t let him do it again……”

Lovie Smith just said the Bucs are still in the playoff hunt.

Bucs have no running game and below average pass blocking. U can’t ask a guy of mcnown’s caliber to win a game by himself. I think mg should start and mcnown bu. that wouldn’t be bad if we could pass block and run. That said, I’m praying for a high 1st rd qb. Here’s positive list: bucs d starting to play for Lovie, 2 good starting receivers – Evans/Jackson, good rb duo – Rainey/James, good cb tandem: verner/banks, 2 legit young all pros – David/McCoy. Starting to get a little optimistic if Lovie gets d straightened out. Only horrible unit is o-line and maybe de.

Our problem right now is a coach who cares more about his “buddy” than he does about the team or the fans,… I have a problem with that!

Lovie said the Bucs are still in the playoff hunt? I have to give him some credit, he can lie with a straight face. I have’nt heard him take any responsibility for the team sucking so bad, and don’t expect to either.

I don’t think Omameh would start on any of the local high school teams. This guy has the technique of a bottom of the barrel JV player. Pure garbage.

McCown can get the ball to Evans, which is frankly the only thing I’ve enjoyed watching this season. So I’ll take that, with the McCown stupidity, over the uninspired, underthrown, sacky Glennon brand of ball I’ve had to suffer for two years.
