If Bucs fans were angry at the call late in the third quarter that turned the game in the Bears favor, you should have heard the reaction from Dashon Goldson.

Joe could hear the cries in Chicago of Bucs fans rankled over the fumble/non-fumble that went against Vincent Jackson. It would have given the Bucs a first-and-goal at the Bears-4. Instead, the zebras ruled Jackson was not down when the ball came loose, thus giving the Bears the ball at their own 21.

“They did a good job of getting turnovers,” Goldson said. “That’s what killed us. “We didn’t get [any] turnovers today. They made some plays when they needed it.

“When they got into the red zone, it hurt with the penalties. That hurt us, too.

“The game changed in that situation [Jackson fumble]. I don’t know what they were looking at but we all saw it on the JumboTron. Whatever calls they make, we have to live with, man. We still have to play.”

Goldson said from his view on the replay boards at Soldier Field, it looked as if Jackson had an arm down before the ball came loose.

And Goldson was right. It was a turning point in the game.

One more thing is that the play calling was horrible, the OC needs to go. Why would you keep running up the middle when your running game wasn’t working? How about more sweeps and tosses to the left & right. How about more screens and shourt passes in the flat as an extension of the running. Then how about a flee-flicka tossed in their to keep the defense on their toes. I can see this and I’m watching from home so what does the Bucs OC see?

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bucs sure seem to get their share of bad calls…..that was one of the costliest….
A home town call if there ever was one…..

  3. RastaMon Says:

Folks…this was Old School..NFC Central…welcome back Bucs….tribute to Jerry Markbriet

  4. Tye Says:

And yet at the end of the season and years from now all that will matter and be remembered is the Bucs lost that game…. Nearly all games can be broken down and reveal crucial moments that “IF” this would have happened or “IF” that would have happened then the game would have ended differently…. You can also do that with your own life and all you will end up doing is driving yourself crazy…

It happened the way it did, The Bucs lost and now their is no do over or changing it…. Lovie has failed (epically) to improve the Bucs and NO AMOUNT OF SUGAR COATING will hide that fact!

  5. Jerseybucsfan Says:

Agree with Newbucsfan!!! Why was it that I can just tell they were going to run it on first down. Ever heard of a play action smh

  6. Bucs Anthem Says:

Goldson has no reason to run his mouth

The Defense did make the critical stops when it needed to

McCoy and the rest of our defense disappeared in the 2nd halk

    Our offensive line stunk again

    Our QB played sucky again

We don’t know what these two words mean obviously “FALSE START”

    Overall……….we were sloppy….and didn’t play well.

If the bears and cutler didn’t suck so bad right now…..it probably would’ve looked worse

  7. billy buckaroo Says:

There are other people on the field that can catch the ball aside from
Vjax and Evans and it might make it a little tougher for defenses if they didnt already know where the ball was going.

    Oh NO
    Evans isn’t open
    Oh No
    Jackson isnt open
    Now what do I do??

    Geez

  8. nate_tweetz Says:

Can’t blame this on the refs. That was a 50/50 call in Chicago. Here’s an idea… Hold on to the football!

  9. jj Says:

Maybe if he cries we’ll win next weekend..

  10. Joe Says:

    the OC needs to go.

Joe is willing to lay cash Marcus Arroyo will not be your Bucs offensive coordinator next season. That’s damn close to a sure bet.

  11. Gt40bear Says:

To hell with that play, on a replay that close, not many teams get a reversal. Nobody has even mentioned the earlier defenseless receiver non call on Mike Evans. Ball was long gone and DB almost beheaded him. Those are the calls only teams like the Bucs DON’T get.

  12. Walter White Says:

I think the Bucs should start handing out big bottles of mouthwash at home games AFTER the game. To rinse out that horrible, bitter taste in your mouth.

  13. Warren Says:

I’ll take that bet Joe. Too much turmoil with yet another offensive coordinator and presumably a new offensive scheme to go along with it. Besides, I really don’t think Arroyo’s done too bad a job. Players have to execute. Don’t know who’s call it is to keep going away from Rainey though. A crappy running game makes any offense all the more easily defended against.

  14. Walter White Says:

We should keep Murphy next year if we can get him for a fair price. He’s a very complimentary WR to Evans and Jackson. We should fire Lovie Smith! I’m standing my ground here, if he stays (I know he probably will) in a couple years if we are “good enough” to legitimately compete for the playoffs, his buffoonish decisions and poor preparation and undisciplined team is going to start costing us GAMES THAT ACTUALLY MATTER! Now THAT is going to be frustrating.

  15. cmurda Says:

The turning point of the game was the beginning of the 2nd half. Bucs fans just knew we would find a way to stink it up in the 2nd half.

  16. Brandon Says:

That was undoubtedly a horrid call. Nobody in the DC sports bar I was at thought it was a fumble and all were shocked by the outcome. That was not a fumble.
