Lovie Addresses Potential Trades

October 20th, 2014

lovie and lichtLovie Smith says he’s always eager to explore any avenue to improve the Buccaneers, though that doesn’t include finding an offensive coordinator.

But does that include trades before next week’s NFL trading deadline?

Lovie addressed that before the Tampa Bay pen and mic club this afternoon. No, says, Lovie. He’s not looking to wheel and deal Vincent Jackson or any other Buccaneers.

“We like our football team that we’re going with, that we have here right now. We’re not trying to shop any of our players, to answer any questions out there,” Lovie said.

“We take all calls. We don’t, ‘No, this area code, we’re not going to take this call. We don’t do that. We listen to what everybody has to say and we go from there. You see who is on our roster today, and I’d just kind of go with that.”

Joe knows much of this is coachspeak, kind of like when Lovie said he was so excited to coach Darrelle Revis. Joe understands the game and has no issue with Lovie playing it.

In other news. Lovie Smith has demoted Crezdon Butler to the practice squad and signed Daniel Manning to the active roster opposite Alterraun “I’m still lost in the defensive system” Verner.

Lovie is so sketchy when talking to the press and the fans. It’s as if anything he says can’t be held against him and he can’t be pinned down on any controversial statement. Try roughing him up with some tough questioning and see where you get. The same place the team struggles to find continuity of purpose.

Call me crazy, but with all the attention on VJax possibly being traded it wouldn’t suprise me to see Martin get traded especially if Sims is cleared to play. Not saying I think it’s a wise move, but with the Bills, Patriots, and a few other teams seeing RB’s get hurt on top of Sims being “Lovie’s Guy” and Martin being in his prime it could be a real possibility to watch.

Hell yes! Let’s make a huge trade. I want to trade our entire team for the Denver Broncos… Including the coaches and GM… That would help our rebuilding process…

Lovie, the fans have already tuned you out. You speak like a politician. At least Schiano gave straight answers. It is really insulting to us.

I’m all for the Bucs moving Doug Martin: but what can one expect to get for him??? The Bucs would be lucky to get a 5th round pick for him…. But hell, Rainey, James and Sims can probably do what Martin has accomplished this year so might as well stock pile a few late picks that could be used to get a project or use to move up a few slots next spring (like early third round to late second or early second to the back end of day one like the Bucs did to get martin in the first place)….

When your team is 1-5 and getting blown out, you should be shopping everybody
