Evans Projected To Miss Two Games

September 29th, 2014

Evans2

Breathe easy, Bucs fans. The blown groin on rookie manbeast wide receiver Mike Evans is going to be OK.

NFL Network is reporting Evans should have a quick recovery.

This is good news. The Bucs are in New Orleans on Sunday, followed by a return home for the Ravens before their bye week.

It could have been much worse, he could have needed groin surgery, which is a nasty recovery.

What a tough break for the Bucs, Evans was such a threat yesterday, thanks to Tampa Bay deciding to open up the offense and actually use his great talent.

Joe’s a bit concerned about Evans. He pulled a hamstring on a nothing play during spring practices, and now he’s popped a groin while running a routine route. Joe hopes this isn’t a pattern.

let it heal…return after the bye week…

  2. warrenfb12 Says:

    Injury prone.

I kinda feel the same about ASJ.

  3. Patrick in VA Says:

Just one of the many instances of our strength & conditioning coaches not performing. Philly had the lowest injury rate in the league last year and is on the same pace this year and it’s all because the S&C coach over there, who is a former coworker of a buddy of mine, has them prepared appropriately so their bodies can handle the game. Our guys clearly do not

  4. flmike Says:

Get both ASJ and Mike into a Pilates class, teach them how to warm up and stretch properly, as a matter of fact, get the whole damn team into one…asap, lets avoid these unnecessary and preventable injuries.

  5. Buddhaboy Says:

yup. let it heal. The Cannon will find other recievers to deal to . ha ha

  6. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

Nice to see some deep passes yesterday. I hope, in time, he can get in tune with the receivers to give them a chance at most of them. (Quite a few overthrows yesterday.)

  7. Dr.D Says:

    Well I hope it’s not a pattern!
On a side note I’d be shopping Vjac he’s dropping way to many passes with a cap hit around 9 mil next season I don’t see any reason to keep him.

  8. Jimbo Says:

Soooo happy we didn’t find out today that Evans has been added to IR. We should all be happy about this.

  9. Justin Says:

How is ASJ injury prone? He hurt his ankle in week 1 and missed some time. Has anyone actually seen the All-22 of that play? It’s a miracle he wasn’t lost for the season.

  10. Biff Barker Says:

Louis Murphy did an admirable hob yesterday. Hell we even had a Hawkins sighting!

  11. Charlie V Says:

hey Joe, do you know if the Buc’s use the GPS tracking software developed by Catapult Sports? This link is to an article from the Orlando Sentinel and how FSU has used the technology to help cut down on soft tissue injuries.

Preston Parker is killing it up in New York. Wish he were still here

  13. clafollett Says:

The bucs need to hire some good yoga trainers and build a hot room. These guys are not stretching properly.

    Patrick in VA:

Philly has lost their entire offensive line this year…it’s called luck.

  15. AnotherJ Says:

He’ll be good to go after the bye week!

    This is a relief.
Homey looked simply Megatron-like in Sunday’s game.

Evans have your girl kiss it and make it better.

Can’t wait to see how Glennon performs as he becomes more comfortable with ASJ. The Glennon to ASJ connection should improve as the season unfolds. Glennon already has solid experience with VJAX (last season) and Murphy (training camp). Yesterday we saw that he understands Mike Evans can be a weapon, and Glennon trusts him. But once Glennon gets more reps throwing to ASJ, and figures out how to use him, this team will start to excel on O. Evans only being out a few weeks is huge for Glennon and Evans development. If we can get improvement in the run game, we will be a pretty good offense. Also, gotta give props to Arroyo yesterday. I was very critical of him, but yesterday he showed that he has potential and trusted his players with his play calling. Also props to Oline pass blocking yesterday…very good performance on the road “when it mattered most” in hostile environment. We do have problems getting to the line and snapping the ball with alloyed time…lol. But I trust that this issue will be fixed before we play @Saints.

    *alloted

  22. Macabee Says:

Cut Oniel Cousins, bring back WR Tommy Streeter. He knows the playbook and he’s available. When Josh McCown is ready to back-up Mike Glennon, cut/return Kafka to the practice squad and bring back Rishaw Johnson.

This General Manager stuff is a piece of cake! lol.

  23. Buc1987 Says:

    Pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!

Everyone should know by now how much I talked about this kid before the draft!

This kid is going to be special if he can stay healthy.

  24. Mike J Says:

In my experience, a hamstring will heal more quickly than a groin pull. Everything you do seems to re-aggravate the latter.

Buc1987,I like him to. Evans deserves a ton of credit for working on his footwork since leaving A&M. Also I love the way he snatches the ball out of the air.

  25. robert9 Says:

glad he’s ok. he’s already surpassed vjay in my book.

  26. Tony Says:

For all of you experts talking about ‘stretching’….science is proving over and over again that stretching actually leads to increased injuries rather than the other way around. I’m being serious.

  27. buccanAy Says:

Our Wr corp is one injury from disaster, IMO. Another failure, IMO, of the L&L gang to leave this team with so little talent and depth at WR. VJax is on the backside of his career, maybe 1 more year, Evans, although talented is a rookie who cant seem to stay healthy. Giving away a proven NFL WR in Mike Williams was a major blunder, IMO. If we have to draft a QB #1 next season, its gonna be rough getting any talent for some MUCH needed areas, like WR, DE, S, CB and OFFENIVE LINE, and throw in some needed LB depth,as well. Hope Arroyo gets ASJ much more involved in this offense…soon.

  28. unbelievable Says:

@gatorcuc, definitely miss preston parker, he was clutch on 3rd down for us

  29. ddneast Says:

We won’t miss Dashon as much since all he ever does is arrive late for an assist on a tackle after a pass completion down the middle.
With the way Murphy played yesterday, we might not miss Evens as much as we think.

  30. lurker Says:

evans is more like the teddy bear from wilfred than godzilla…

  31. Brent Says:

Vjax has a broken wrist. We’re lucky he’s playing. Surprised they cut Murphy I figured he was 3rd best receiver plus he’s experienced.

  32. Troy Says:

Was I the only one who saw all the dropped and missed catches by the recievers. All recievers need to do a better job catching.

  33. Crimson_Warrior Says:

Thank god some of you guys aren’t running the team. I heard somebody say we should shop VJax because he dropped a few passes…Uhm he has a broken wrist last time I checked. You can see the drops are because his wrist is wrapped and that causes him to not be as fluid when he catches the ball. You can see the drops look like they’re bouncing off of his hands. Oh and btw didn’t he just make a spectacular catch to win the game? I feel like some of you guys bang your heads on stuff on a daily basis. The more I visit this site the more I start to realize the majority of our fan base doesn’t know much about the game.

  34. Troy Says:

not talking just vjax, evins, asj. realize vjax has a wrist issue but if your out there and they hit your hands you need to make the catch. If pitsburg was not so heavily penilized we would have lost the game. also cant have 20 yards between our defense and oposing recievers.

  35. Troy Says:

hell when vjax went to spike the ball he could not hold on to it.
