Picking Apart The Debacle

September 20th, 2014

Devin Hester

Outside of Danny Lansanah’s pick-six, Joe can’t think of a damned thing that went right Thursday night. Trailing 56-0 at one point — the worst deficit in Buccaneers history — the alley-beating was the nastiest Joe had ever seen delivered.

Something must change. You can’t just do the exact same things and expect a different result. That was appalling.

In this TBO.com video, TBO’s Olivia Stacey and Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune discuss what changes Bucs fans could see in the near future.

    Buccs are considering signing Urlacher.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

The Bucs won the coin flip!!!

    #being positive!

  4. topcoach1978 Says:

We would probably lose games to most of the teams in the SEC at this point were so bad!!!

  5. tickrdr Says:

#2 Goldson’s diving save of a fumble going out of bounds.

#3 McCown suffering a thumb injury.

Except for those, not much else.

  6. Buccfan37 Says:

Lovie says “Josh is our starter”. Damn it, If he has to play through losses here on out Lovie will stick with his choice. Lovie loves McCown, but obviously does’nt love Glennon. It’s the rest of the teams fault, not his starting QB. Not exactly!

  7. Greg Says:

I think this guy has been listening to Savior Lovie to much.
Excuse after excuse. Call it like it is.this coach has no clue and needs to be fired. Period

  8. Reezy Says:

Buc IT! Sign Incognito and bench McCown. Lets find out what Glennon can do.

  9. Soggy Says:

Seems like everything going is just to p!ss the fans off.. This just in lovie kicks off to hester again..

  10. BFFL Says:

I’m part of the MGM and I’d rather McCown start…don’t want Glennon to be part of this shit show right now.

  11. tye Says:

    “Something must change.”

Lovie Smith is the Head Coach
    Leslie Frazier is the DC

Change that and you may fix the biggest issues this team has!… Until then, expect more of the same EVERY WEEK!

  12. Greg Says:

    ^^^^ Yep

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It makes absolutely no sense to call for Lovie to be fired this early…..if you think the Glazers are going to pay three head coaches at the same time….you are nuts!!!

Schiano, Lovie….new coach…..and, didn’t they just get finished paying Gruden.

I realize it feels good to say “Off with his head”…..but lets be realistic,he’s our coach for a while.

  14. Brent Says:

I’m sorry the coaching was piss poor. You can talk mcnown or new scheme yada yada yada. When you here experts saying team was lost and unprepared plus eyeball test no need to muddy the waters. The coaching staff has failed so far period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Warren Says:

Hey Bucs fans calling for the head coach to be fired already..see the insanity quote. This team and organization needs stability. In leadership, in schemes, in players…then things will start to gel eventually. We all see we are nowhere near yet, but calling for yet another coaching change (over and over and over again I see this sh*t in comments here) is straight idiotic.

  16. Mr Lucky Says:

Boy am I so happy that we decided to run Jon Gruden out of town ……

    NOT!

  17. dick2111 Says:

Josh McCown was considered by most to be the best free agent QB available this past offseason. L&L landed him.

Mike Glennon was a third round draft choice in 2013. Once our starting QB Freeman imploded, Glennon inherited the starting gig. L&L inherited him.

L&L passed on all the QBs available in the 2014 draft. Derek Carr (Oakland) is the only one presently starting far as I know. Oakland hasn’t won a game (0-2) and plays NE tomorrow (good luck with that).

There should be several very good QB prospects in next year’s draft. Kinda have a feeling (after a 0-3 start) that the Bucs will be in the running for one of them.

  18. Oahubuc Says:

If not for the thumb injury, McClown was on pace to have a worse implosion than Freeman (on the field). Best FA available, you’re talking about like Matt Flynn, Mark Sanchez, Curtis Painter… abysmal class, so yeah, I’ll buy that.

And the video uses one of the most basic logical fallacies of all time: the Appeal to Lovie. A few of my Bears fan friends told me how I was going to hate his face before too long, and they’re right.

  19. Hawk Says:

Remember this too, guys; Lovie is ‘old school’. A starter doesn’t lose his job because of injury (Cutler/McCown/Cutler last year). So when McCown is ready to play…

  20. Bear down Says:

Lovie also won’t bench a QB no matter how badly he plays…Rex is our Qaurterback! Rex is our Qaurterback! Between talking down to all the fans and the media this pompas ass will wear on you quickly. It is not the Tampa 2 that is necessarily bad it’s the way Lovie has his guys play it. His defensive backs always give big cushions to every receiver. Any solid passing attack can consistently throw a ten yard pass between the linebackers and the safeties…it will never stop. Worst of all he refuses to make any adjustments. I feel sorry for Bucs fans this guy is awful…

  21. Mathius Says:

Is that Coach Cummings or Dr. Cummings? (Lovie always calls him out at press conferences)

Holly cow the excuses are rolling

    Michal Johnson is hurt
    Doug Martin is hurt
    Jeff Tedord is out
    GMC is hurt
    Mason foster is hurt
    Mike Jenkins is hurt

  22. "that guy" Says:

    the definition of insanity…….

repeatedly doing the same thing expecting different results.
