Written Test, “Piss Test” Among Saturday Rituals

It sure seems Lovie Smith is more of a detail man than self-proclaimed details junkie Greg Schiano
Your Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be tested by the Rams today, but they also were drilled the day before the game.
The Bucs don’t get a day off on Saturday when they play on Sunday. They’re at the Tampa team hotel living and working and sticking to an 11 p.m. curfew.
Doug Martin talked about the process on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night. He said the Bucs go through a jog-through of their script of plays the day before a game, typical stuff, but they also break off with position coaches for pen-and-pencil work that is taken seriously.
“These are written tests. I believe each coach gives their players the test to see where they’re at, to see if they listened through the week. Try to test them. throw a little trick question in to try and get you, just to see if you were listening early on in the week.” Martin said.
Joe found that quite interesting. Joe sure wouldn’t want to be the guy who turns in his written test with mistakes.

Martin said all players throughout the week routinely take a “piss test” into a high-tech device that instantly tests their urine for hydration levels. If a players comes up short, Martin said, then the player must address the hydration immediately.
“It’s mandatory. We have to do it every day before we go out to practice. And if you don’t, there will be repercussions,” Martin said.
That sure sounds a lot smarter than Greg Schiano yelling at everyone to walk to each meeting with a plastic bottle of water in each hand.

Those who like to bash Schiano might want to refrain for a couple of games to make sure Lovie isn’t the second coming of him, cuz right now this year is shaping up to not look any different than last.

Much rather be asked to make sure to keep drinking water than have to constantly whip it out to take a leak. If you think Schiano was a micro manager maybe you should check out some of the things Chip Kelley is doing in Philly. Enough with Schiano already. Think most of the “press” did not like him because he did run a tight ship. If you have more on Schiano and what went on for his 2 years than write about it. If not enough already…

I’ll say it again and keep saying it until Lovie shows us otherwise.
Schiano’s Bucs would beat this current Bucs team. It would be a close game though.

Lightning, no need to pick sides. Schiano was a terrible coach all on his own. Schiano has nothing to do with Lovie and vice versa. I will dislike schiano no matter how terrible the bucs are or will be in the future.

lightning bug. Are you for real man!!!!! They only lost one game. what about your lighting team? Look i haven’t posted in a long time because i like to read everybody’s post but, common people have a little faith. i have been a fan since 1979 and never said anything bad about this team no matter what there losses totaled up. if you all were real fans you would stick by them no matter what. I wish i could be a season ticket holder but, i could never afford it. no matter there record if i use a season ticket holder i would still go to every game. GO BUCS!!!

Yep. All these media junkies will bash schiano but not hold players responsible. If I didn’t buy in to my boss my job would be posted the next day. No one sees how coughlin, bellichik and harbaugh run their teams or even chip Kelly? Yes they win but they didn’t really do a good job of proving schiano with a competent gm.

I actually don’t get the criticism of Joe on this one….Thanks for sharing this information Joe! I was unaware of the piss test dealie, and don’t exactly understand how or what is measured to determine if you are hydrated…Electrolytes? No matter, with regard to Schiano, he’s history, and I think it’s too early to cast negative aspersions on the current “Lovie/Licht” Regime.

Yea, that bottle of water must have weighed a ton. Really, I was no fanoi if Schiano, but when you nitpick about little stuff like this the validity of your other criticisms lose merite or validity.
Schiano certainly drafted better than Morris although he still had that albatross of a GM Dummynick hanging around his neck.
