Looks Like The Bucs Will Have A Fullback

Jorvorskie Lane gets high praise

The fullback position has become a dinosaur in the NFL. Perhaps the Bucs should nickname Jorvorskie Lane “Stegosaurus.”

Lane seems an absolute lock for the 53-man roster.

Aside from appearing regularly with the first team in practice and in preseason games, Lane drew significant love from general manager Jason Licht during tonight’s game broadcast on WFLA-TV.

Licht was asked for preseason standouts, and he praised Lane and wide receiver Louis Murphy. He offered love for his scouting department for finding them, and Licht said Lane has developed into a “hammer.”

Interestingly, color analyst Ronde Barber talked about a conversation he had weeks ago with Licht about the roster. Barber said Licht was talking about keeping four tight ends or three tight ends and a fullback.

With Tim Wright traded away on Tuesday, it seems the decision is clear.

League rules mandate the 53-man roster must be in place by 4 o’clock Saturday.

I would love to see a return to the ground and pound game, expanded of course to include passing.

I hope Lane stays healthy and does well.

    Larry English or Da’Quan Bowers?

I prefer Larry English. Kid has fire and health. I’m a little concerned that Bowers ability to play DT might keep him on the roster.

Bucs just wouldn’t be the same without a FB…hope he makes it. Also like JC Copeland who Dallas released…not sure how he did for them in camp though.

is the roster spot a function of attrition or what Lane can bring to this offense?

Lane can be an absolute beast. I’d love to see him run out of the HB position i.e days of the A-Train. He was a vicious RB in college, but whether it’s running with the ball, catching it in the flat or simply blocking, this guy brings violence to his game, and I feel he’s going to be a real difference maker in this offense.

Oh man… What I would give for a reincarnation of Alstott.
