Red Meat For Bucs Defensive Line

Stinking Panthers QB Cam Newton is not healthy.

Stinking Panthers QB Cam Newton is not healthy.

In 13 days, the Bucs will host the Stinking Panthers at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway to kick off the 2014 season. Since Lovie Smith was hired in January, he has been talking about, emphasizing, demanding, pleading, praying, willing that the Bucs get more pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

If Lovie needs more incentive for his defensive front seven to hit and punish QB to start the season, it is here.

For it seems if Stinking Panthers quarterback Cam Newton plays, then he won’t be 100 percent. Just take a gander at the Stinking Panthers’ own Twitter account.

So there you go Gerald McCoy, Adrian Clayborn, Clinton McDonald and Michael Johnson. There is your read meat. Now go hunt, as Warren Sapp would say.

The Stinking Panthers offense is one dimensional as it is with the wide receiver corps decimated by offseason defections and cuts. You take away its quarterback, and that offense totally becomes one dimensional.

The best thing for a defense is for an offense to be a one-trick pony.

that and the fact that Sam Bradford went down over the weekend it appears the first couple weeks of the regular season have gotten a bit easier for us to win…

Double coverage on Benjamin and it will be a sluggfest

We went from possibly starting season 0-2 to 2-0 in 1 week of preseason games. Not only is Cam banged up but Bradford is out for the season. The Panthers don’t scare me in the least and now the Rams are in a need of a starting QB that is just taking snaps with the first string. Advantage Bucs..

  5. DallasBuc Says:

Don’t they still have beast oline and running game?

  6. Buccfan37 Says:

That’s probably at least two wins out of the Bucs first five opponents. I’m calling a win over the stinkin panthers in the opener right now. The other near sure win is at the pitiful steelers, which I picked the Bucs to win weeks back. The reelers suck something pathetic, a likely last place team in their division. I know I said I was’nt picking anymore games, but these I feel confident enough to pick.

    Let’s go hunting!!!!!

  8. INDYbucsfan Says:

    So week 1 cams hurt
    Week 2 no Sam Bradford
Week 3 falcons have lost 2 starters on Oline
We may very well start this season 3-0 even 4-0 because I don’t think the stealers are going to be very good this year. Now if only Bree’s could really mess up his oblique week 4!!

  9. Brian Says:

    DallasBuc:

No…their offensive line isn’t any better than ours.

  10. RCH Says:

We now have the third best QB in the division in week one!

  11. andres Says:

Bradford out, Cam hurting and the bucs D playing at a top 3 level are the football gods smiling on the Bucs?! 2-0 could be a real possibility!? The Carolina game is getting more and more intriguing by the minute, CAN’T WAIT!

  12. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I don’t want to rain on anyone’s day, but the bucs have not done well in recent years against backup QBs.

  13. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

But hey, its a new day!

I think the Panthers would be fools to play Newton in the game against us. It could end up being the end of his season.

Of course, the other teams in the NFL don’t know how good our defense will be this year.

    Is Streeter a Panther yet?

  15. mpmalloy Says:

If we had only drafted Johnny Maziel then we’d have a guy who
could compete with Cam and Brees and Matty Ice.

  16. Willie D Says:

Eric Page will come back to haunt you probably with Carolina

  17. Soggybottom Says:

hey mpmalloy have you not seen or heard manziel sucks he cant even remember a play in the playbook when asked..

  18. Harry Says:

The Bucs can definitely beat the Panthers. CAR did not score vs the Redskins until the 4th Qtr. They have a crap Oline (hmmm, sounds familiar), no returning WRs, and now a wounded duck QB!!

Not even close. LT Jordan Gross retired as did one of their starting OGs. Their line is a bigger mess than ours (because theirs stinks from the outside to in while ours stinks from the inside out).

  20. buccanAy Says:

Yep Bonzai, was thinking the same thing….it was just a few short years ago we were licking our chops to face a few backups and were taken apart by said backups..but, yes it is a different day and hopefully a better outcome. Kinda reminds me of how the Rays seem to make Cy Youngs out of no-name pitchers.

  21. Discount08 Says:

LETS GO BUCS 3-0!!! WE ARN’T GETTING SHUT OUT THIS SEASON BABY!!!!
