Welcome To The Matchup Nightmare

August 11th, 2014

Tedford rightSo how would you defend the Buccaneers?

Before you make an offensive line joke, consider that the line won’t be that dreadful on every play, and hopefully a lot better when the Bucs rollout their real offense.

Talking Bucs on NBC Sports Network. Hines Ward explained the Bucs present a matchup problem across the board in a league filled with small cornerbacks.

Enjoy the video below that includes training camp footage.

An offensive lineman a coach, and a Lutheran minister walk into a bar. The bartender looks up and says, “Is this some kind of joke?”

  2. Hawk Says:

Sorry, Joe, but the ONLY way the “real offense” can make the O-line look better is if the QB throws his passes while still under center.

  3. Danimal Says:

Joe is living in Alice in Wonderland territory.
These big tall “slow” receivers take longer to get open and there is the rub.
If the don’t figure something out on this O-line soon we will be a
10-17 points per game offense and that leads to about 3-4 wins.

If Lovie does not figure out how to fix his OL problem, Tedford’s Offense will fall on its face. This just illustrates why taking the best player available instead of filling needs through the draft is not the best strategy. I cringed when Licht said he favors taking the best player available before the draft. We needed a franchise QB and good linemen for our offense before we needed a surplus sage of running backs and receivers we didn’t have to have.

  5. Scott Says:

Owlykat, Charles Simms is going to be a stud and part of our successful future. Say we go 8-8, shit im happy with that improvement. Next we we target that first round stud o-lineman and we will be set !

  6. Seattle Buc Says:

Wasn’t it Merideth that took Davin’s spot when he hurt his knee? Martin’s first year. He had a bad game last week, hopefully he will put it together.

False. How about we wait for the week 3 and see. Also picking the best player available has worked for teams that are consistently in the playoffs…..that’s where we want to be

  8. Luther Says:

I’m very happy with our off season. Rome was not built in a day and OL is pretty much a crapshoot. We can target OL in the offseason. In the meantime, we have to work with what we have and I’m extremely excited about some of the offensivetalent we got in the draft. If these guys do what I expect, 10 years from now, we will look back at this draft and be very happy. Jenkins and Evans are studs.

“…consider that the line won’t be that dreadful on every play…” Why not? A bad offensive line will be terrible on every play, especially against good defenses – something we will be facing a lot of this year. What a waste.
