Bucs WR Mike Evans chose an interesting workout partner this summer to prep for training camp.

The man Bucs general manager Jason Licht tabbed “Godzilla” is ready to rock and roll across NFL fields as his namesake did Tokyo. Bucs wide receiver and seventh-overall draft pick Mike Evans is ready.

The first round draft pick held court, briefly, with the Tampa Bay pen and mic club as he arrived at One Buc Palace for his first NFL training camp. Evans noted a few things that opened Joe’s eyes.

Evans has been in south Florida much of this summer working out with Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who knows Bucs coach Lovie Smith well. Many have compared the new set of Bucs receivers to the Bears’ skyscrapers, Alshon Jeffrey and Marshall.

When Evans wasn’t working out with Marshall, he was at an undisclosed Tampa location catching pass after pass from Bucs quarterback Josh McCown.

To hear Evans talk about the tricks he learned from Marshall and how he has healed his tender hamstring, click on the red button below. Audio courtesy of Joe’s good friends at WDAE-AM 620.

I can feel the excitement running through my veins. Football is FINALLY here. I can’t wait to see #13 wrecking havoc. Finally, some optimism has covered RJ Stadium.

Can’t wait to see ASJ, VJax and Evans in the red zone package. Might as well put Sims in motion too.

  6. Theodore Says:

“tender hamstring”… sigh. It’s been two whole months since he “tweaked” it. Evans is injured.

  7. Eric Says:

We could have gotten Brandon Marshall for a song. Boldin too.

But the rock just had to build only through the draft.

  8. Nick H Says:

Marshall is 30, Boldin is 33. Not interested in their large contracts compared to Mike Evans age, low cap number and ability.
