Prepping For Training Camp

Bucs MLB Mason Foster and several other teammates have been working out at off-site facilities to prepare for training camp, which begins next week.

The countdown continues. It is now eight days from the start of Bucs training camp. We’re almost there guys; hang in there Bucs fans.

Just as Tampa Bay fans are mapping out partying plans for fall weekends and stocking up on beers to fill the garage fridge, Bucs players are getting ready themselves.

Long gone are the days of players showing up to training camp trying to shed the weight they gained from the offseason.

In the video below, WTVT-TV, Channel 13 reporter Kevin O’Donnell visits a local athletic training facility where a number of Bucs, and an ex-Bucs player, Davin Joseph, are sweating it out in the brutal Florida summer sun so they are in top shape when the horn sounds to start training camp.

FOX 13 News

It’s not news that the Bucs are working out on their own while One Buc Palace is effectively shut down for the NFL summer siesta. Per the NFL labor agreement, players are not allowed to use team facilities (other than for medical reasons) once OTAs and minicamps are done. Earlier this spring, Joe brought word that Josh McCown led the entire team in scrimmages at an undisclosed Tampa location before the first OTA session.

Let’s just hope all of this extra training does the Bucs some good; better than the results of former leaky, sleepy quarterback Josh Freeman’s workouts in Bradenton a few years ago.

Great to see! We will be ready for Carolina. Hardy-less or not. But, I won’t share a tear if he is not.

Now, Now, Now….Wait a second… I don’t wish Hardy wrong or any Carolina player but somethings we(Bucs players and fans) can’t control.

    Go Bucs!!!

  2. Buccfan37 Says:

If Hardy is out, then so be it. I’ll let out a buccaneer like hardy har har.

  3. Drew Says:

Been working out myself getting ready for the season. My beer arm is almost in mid season form and ready to tear it up.

Joe hopes to hear that ringing through the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway Week 1.

I love this stuff!!! I hope Mason Foster has a really great year. Joe, did I miss him? I did not see Cheeseburger Bowers out there.

Believe, per his Twitter feed, Bowers is working out at Clemson. He loves being in South Carolina.

What ever happen with Josh Freeman working out with Jon Gruden?

  9. Bucfever40 Says:

Joe you stole my thunder, I didn’t notice Bowers in that clip, and you’d think he’d be accepting the challenges put forth by his coaches. Maybe he’s getting in work some other place, if not, then he simply is not made for this league and/or may not even want it.

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

@Drew- Are you working with 12 oz or 16 oz curl bars?! I’m really trying to beef up so I’ve turned to growler lifts in expectation of celebratory drinking(I drink more when happy. go figure!).
