“He’s Gonna Make Sure We’re Winning”

June 14th, 2014

McCownGlennonTake a glimpse into what one of the new and clear leaders of the Bucs offense looks and sounds like.

It’s center Evan Dietrich-Smith, via SportsTalkFlorida.com. Joe’s previously shared a couple of quotes from this minicamp interview, but there’s some fresh stuff, too.

Dietrich-Smith draws a line in the sand when it comes to his perceived greatness of Josh McCown, “He’s gonna make sure we’re winning ballgames.”

In Josh We Trust.

Tell Evan to find us a left guard!

  2. GO BUCS Says:

I love the attitude of this team! It has a veteran feel to it, even though their predominantly young! GO BUCS…

  3. SAMCRO Says:

Smith seems pleased with the young lineman and he appears to be a good judge of talent, so maybe our concerns for the OL is a little apprehensive and a bit premature. Like Smith says, a lot of doubts will be answered when the pads go on.

ALSO, I’m with LUV MY BUCS …L & L should heavily pursue CB Brandon Flowers.

  4. Chris Says:

If this season goes south it’ll be bc of the qb play. I don’t think McCown nor glennon is the guy to take us to the post season or even a division title. I can be wrong but until a qb and a good one is in place, I see this team 7-9 at best.

  5. Louis Friend Says:

Chris, always possible but a great defense can get a team to the postseason carrying the rest of the team on it’s back. Seen it too many times to doubt it.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We can make the post season with an average QB and great defense….especially if we have some weapons….I am excited about our combination of size & speed….I can’t remember as a Buc fan ever really having that before.

  7. jarret Says:

Look what the Ravens did. It was all D with a just ok QB. We can smash it this year. Go BUCS

  8. Buc the Haters Says:

I agree with TBBF & Jarret. I think we have plenty of weapons on offense for either one of our QB’s to be successful this year & when that is combined with our D, I see us going deep into the playoffs & possibly winning it all. I don’t see how anyone is going to stop our ‘attack mode’ Dunkaneers.

  9. unbelievable Says:

The difference between a below average and above average season will come down to the o-line. And that’s assuming the defense comes together in the first few weeks and our Qb can get the ball to our fast and/or giant weapons. And they all stay healthy. sounds easy right?

  10. JT Says:

I don’t trust Josh McCown after five good games versus 11 mediocre seasons prior to those five games. I do, however, think the world of our defense. But not Josh McCown.

  11. Boomer33 Says:

Chris, do you think Rex Grossman was a good quarterback? End of story.

Chris, do you think Rex Grossman was a good quarterback? End of story.

No I don’t. But how often does that even happen? Not in 7 years pal. And he still didn’t win a Super Bowl. Analyze the competition. There are growing and competitive teams out there. We need a good qb. And what many here are implying we need a great defense. When you mean great defense you need to be on par as one of the best all time.

We also need to be real here. We drafted some talent in Evans and Jenkins and sims. But there will be a learning curve bc they are in fact rookies. I say 7-9 at best. Could be worse if we get bad play at qb again.

  13. Jim Walker Says:

If he plays as well as he is eloquent we’ll be fine at center. Seems like a real pro.

  14. Buccfan37 Says:

With parity in the league, the Bucs will be about even. A few stinkers, a few solid contenders and an up and coming Bucs team. Or better.

  15. owlykat Says:

Chris, even Lindy’s projects us as the number two team in our conference with only the Saints above us, which is where KC was last year in their conference, and KC made it into the playoffs and we can too. Josh will be better than even Lovie expects! You will see!

  16. buccanstopit Says:

I’m so excited, I’m moving back to claim the tickets I gave up last year after 15+ years. No, great opportunity back in Tampa area, be back asap.

  17. Mumbles Says:

I’m sitting trying to figure out what I’m going to do for the next 40 days and 40 nights!

    Tampa Bay!!!

(Approximately $12 Million in Cap Space)

*Brandon Flowers is an Elite Zone Corner
*A Great scheme fit would be in Tampa Bay w/ Lovie Smith’s version of the Tampa 2

Brandon Flowers, is better suited as a zone corner. A great fit would be in Tampa Bay w/ Lovie Smiths version of the Tampa 2. Would be a home coming for Flowers (raised in Palm Beach County) + The Combination of…

    (Defensive Linemen)
    1. RDE-Michael Johnson
    2. RDT-Gerald McCoy
    3. LDT-Clinton McDonald
    4. LDE-Adrian Clayborn

    (Linebackers)
    1. WLB-Lavonte David
    2. MLB-Mason Foster
    3. SLB-Jonathan Casillas

    (Defensive Backs)
    1. RCB-Alterraun Verner
    2. S-Dashon Goldson
    3. SS-Mark Barron
    4. LCB-Brandon Flowers

Note: If he’s available LDE Derrick Morgan (Titans) would be a good rotational guy to add.

  20. PRBucFan Says:

Glad we are going to have McCown leading our team this year and not the already floundering Johnny Boy ahahaha.

Told ya Lovie would pass up on JF even if he was available at 7.

After one disaster in manboy Free Free we didn’t need another fiasco with Johnny boy lol.

  21. zuperiorbucfan Says:

Been a fan since about 98. I am as excited as ever for the offensive side of the ball. We have seen no actual play yet, but I think we could see some great stuff develop.

  22. White Tiger Says:

    Getting excited about this season!!
