“My Willingness To Block”

Rookie Mike Evans has plenty in common with a former Bucs receiver taken in the first round

There’s no diva in 20-year-old rookie receiver Mike Evans. Not yet, anyway.

Evans even said he’d be proud to be known as a blocking icon.

Speaking on Pro Football Talk last night on NBC Sports Network, Evans dove into how proud he is of his “physicality” and “my willingness to block.” Evans explained he played for a running team in high school and that mandatory blocking experience also was a must in order to see the field at Texas A&M.

Joe enjoyed the interview below. Evans goes into his current mentors, Vincent Jackson, Russell Shepard and Louis Murphy, and more.

Gotta love a receiver who likes to hit!

And please don’t label him “blocking icon.” That’s been reserved for someone else.

In the wake of the stupidity about the Jim Rome I thought I’d share this PFT article about Mike Evans and interviews: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/05/20/mike-evans-isnt-what-we-expect-in-a-receiver/

I see a lot of edge running and screens in this teams future. The strength of this team is on the edges. Should be pretty interesting

  5. Nick H Says:

Jim Rome is a douche, Mike Evans is a damn fine interviewee and I love that he’s a man of few(er) words.

This kid is going to be simply tremendous. I can say that with no doubt or jinxing in my mind. Tremendous!

Agree on using the size advantage we will have on the edges. I suspect we will see Mr Sims busy catching little swing passes. ASJ and Evans both blocking in will be fun to watch.

  8. BuccoBill Says:

See, that interview proves that Jim Rome was the problem with his interview with ME13. Can’t fix stupid.

  9. Drew Says:

If you notice after the Jim Rome interview, while Rome was bashing him, along with his minions, they where comparing Mikes interview to Ken Griffey Jr, and Tim Duncan, last time I checked those two are extreme blue collar great future hall of famers, great interview Evans!! Let’s just call him Easy E Evans.
