Gholston Discusses Improved D-Line Coaching

April 23rd, 2014

willl gholston 0310This exclusive JoeBucsFan.com video won’t make Butch Davis, Bryan Cox, Randy Mevlin and Greg Schiano happy. The former Bucs defensive line gurus weren’t as impressive as those under the Lovie Smith regime. That’s the word from emerging Bucs defensive lineman Will Gholston.

Click below to see Joe’s locker room interview today. Joe’s got plenty of video coming through next week. Thanks to the NFL and the Buccaneers. Enjoy.

Sounds like better coaching to me??

  2. Macabee Says:

You heard it here first! I am officially claiming naming rights for Michael Johnson at 6-7 on the right side and William Gholston at 6-6 on the left side as the Tampa Bay Twin Towers!

  3. Owlykat Says:

Gholston got 2 sacks when he finally got a chance to get into the games as a starter at LE and showed that he has the power to also play inside on third down or in an emergency to fill in inside. He has first round talent and was a very smart pickup by DOM. I predict he will be the starter at LE before the end of the year. Of course Dumbo Shiano kept Teo in the spot despite only one sack all year, despite his false promise to put the best players on the field. Had Gholston got those starts all year he would have been a double digit sacker!!! With him on one side and Johnson on the other and McCoy and McDonald all getting their sacks from the inside it will be like the Buc’s Glory Days this year on Defense. If Tedford puts a top 5 Offense on the field too–this will be the Kansas City Chief’s of this coming season, and I expect it to happen.

    Hope it transfer’s to wins

  5. Matt Says:

Put on the NFC championship game against Philly and watch that ferocious pass rush. Simeon Rice, Greg spires, Darby (who was underrated rusher..remember Booger was on DL), and Sapp. This team has that same feel. We are one year away…..

This team (mainly dline) is like a hungry pack of hyenas. And they are starving…im telling you, if it all comes together and Bowers and Clayborn get healthy this could be the best dline in the league.

Gholston will start and will get more double teams than MJ. MJ has straight line speedcand the Joe Thomas’s and Okungs will just shove him out wide and out of the play. You can’t do that to Gholston, he’s too strong and agile. He will get tackles on their heels and bullrush them into QBs.

We may only win 7-9 games but with some astute drafting we could be the most entertaining team in the league. Goldson and Barron will not have to think this year and will really lay some wood.

I am going to buy a his jersey! #Stud

  7. RealityCheck Says:

@ Macabee – The Dingleberry Dudes is even a better name than the Tampa Bay Twin Towers. Pull it together man.

  8. buchead407 Says:

You didn’t cut it out haha

  9. Architek Says:

Joe that’s wrong – tell the man you will edit the material and you leave it!

    I love this kid!

  10. BFFL Says:

I like his potential but it’s a little early to anoint this guy as a stud. As Buc fans we need to demand wins before saying any one of these players are great.

  12. Kalind Says:

I love Gholston. Last year I was claiming he might be one of the steals of the draft. I love the competition for that other spot on the end. Bowers, Gholston, Clayborn. One of you go and get it.

  13. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

It is nice to actually have some depth at the D Line positions. Gholston, Johnson, Clayborn, Bowers??(not so sure what he will do this season). Then McCoy, McDonald, Spence at DT. Thats a way better lineup on paper than we have had in several years here. And I would not be surprised at all if L&L draft a DT and DE in the upcoming draft.

As far as Gholston goes. I’m expecting big things from him this season. I’m not expecting double digit sacks. For he will be double teamed way too many times if he keeps improving like last season. But QB pressures and run support will be key for him this season. And being 6’6″ he should be able to get several batted balls as well.

Start winning and I might start to believe.

  15. Joe Says:

Amazing how people are telling Joe what wasn’t edited. How do you even know what happened?

  16. panhandle buc Says:

Just imagine throwing A DONALND in this rotation! I sure hope the bucs trade back and grab him.

  17. tackleblockwin Says:

Seems to me that WG just needs to become more confident in himself.

  18. Bucsfanman Says:

I’m with 1987 on this one. Right now, there’s a lot of talk and criticisms(warranted or not!) before a single game is played. Show me, I’m optimisic, but show me!
