Forget DeSean Jackson

Yes, the rumors became fact today. The Eagles cut loose talented wide receiver DeSean Jackson. It’s a stunning move given that Jackson is coming off the best year of his career with over 1,300 receiving yards and is but 27, in his prime.
It seems, however, Jackson’s off-field issues became too much for the Eagles to stomach. The Los Angeles police, via Eliot Shorr-Parks and A.J. Perez of NJ.com, believe Jackson has deep gang ties to the Crips, and may have a hand in criminal activity.
Now Joe was getting peppered on Twitter about how Bucs general manager Jason Licht and coach Lovie Smith may be interested in Jackson. Hey, they are supporting Mike Williams and Lovie embraced Brandon Marshall in Chicago, these same pro-Jackson Twitterers reasoned.
But from the fingers of Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, L&L have no use for Jackson with the Bucs.
@NFLSTROUD: For those asking, I’m told there is ZERO chance the Bucs will have an interest in WR DeSean Jackson as a free agent.
So there you have it. Quit dreaming of the Bucs grabbing Jackson, who was coached in college by current Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford. As Shaun King, one of only three Bucs quarterbacks to lead the team to an NFC championship game, Twittered, the lack of support for Jackson from his now former Eagles teammates speaks volumes.

It is interesting that Jackson’s biggest supporter seems to be that bum who stole money from the Bucs, former NFL running back Derrick Ward.

It would be nice if we could land him for, say, 1yr $5mil at absolute most but I can’t see L&L taking such a huge character risk.
Safe to wash my mind clean of this thought, I wont be upset when he signs elsewhere at all.

If they are troubled by Mike Williams, there is NO chance they sign DeSean.
Joe is 100% correct. Stroud has confirmed. Have you heard his teammates’ comments? They didn’t even want him.

Anyone find it odd that Derrick Ward is unloading on Mark Dominik for his treatment of players? So Ward ought to give his millions back that he thieved from Dominik, huh?

Hell I wouldnt mind seeing jackson in a bucs uniform. Our 32nd ranked offense seems to have been neglected a bit thus far. Sure we got a cpl olineman but really. No one on this offense is going to strike fear into dcoorfinators at the moment.

I would sign him. Give him a 3 yr deal w no guaranteed $. U got the Tedford connection, I say it’s worth a shot. If it doesn’t work, show him the door. Just don’t let Carolina land him

I don’t want punk ass D jax. We can get someone comparable in the draft for 1/10th the price… And we already have 2 speedsters in Demps and Murphy. Although I do want at least 1 more stud wr in the draft. Either Marquis Lee, Beckham or Mike Evans would be my faves.

Even if DeSean had no problems, after the Bucs signed Murphy I doubt the Bucs can now come up with the money DeSean will demand.

Desean Jackson is BOTH! Plus, his return ability is sick. Remember the giants game a couple years ago? Youtube it…
I don’t know if we can or can’t get him but if we can, he would be an outstanding pickup.
Far as I know, he has never been arrested. What I do know is he has been a great spokesman for stopping bullying and a great charitable contributor.
Nobody has proof of anything else… May be a bit of a me guy, but he’s a wide receiver, they all are.

If there is a coach out there willing to take him I wouldn’t be shocked for Lovie to get him on an incentive based contract. But myself personally. I wouldn’t touch him. He would be great on the field for our offense. But he is a distraction in the locker room and none of his ex-teammates are sticking up for him now. That speaks volumes.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports free agent DeSean Jackson “put word out” he was interested in joining the Raiders.
The feeling is mutual as Oakland reportedly began to investigate the possibility of adding Jackson more than a week ago. Jackson’s interest makes sense. The Raiders were Jackson’s favorite team growing up, and he played his college ball nearby at Cal. There are at least eight other teams also interested in Jackson’s services.
