Glazer Says Depth Was Key Issue

The way the new Bucs regime has gutted the roster and relegated some starters to new roles reminds Joe of the hazmat teams that sanitized MRSA from the Bucs’ locker room last year.
It’s been an intense scrubbing of the handiwork of former Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik and Commander Greg Schiano.
Speaking today at the NFL Owners Meetings in Orlando, Bucs co-owner Joel Glazer said change is critical at the top and the bottom of the roster. Buccaneers.com contributor Scott Smith Twittered the words of his boss.

Now Joe doesn’t think the Bucs had a steaming feces of a roster last season. That wasn’t 2009. Joe thinks last season’s Bucs were more a victim of bad coaching, compounded by a few glaring screw-ups by Dominik-Schiano at this time last year. Michael Bennett and Kevin Ogletree come to mind.
Regardless, Lovie’s crafting the team in his image, and that’s the best image the Bucs have had in a long time.

A 4-12 team that lost a lot of close games. Some of those players are no longer on the team. I hope they know what they are doing. I’ll believe it when I see it. I’m expecting a 5-11 season so far.

I think buc fans are in for a rude awakening this season,
everyone is on the lovie bandwagon but his history doesn’t looks as good as ppl think.

As in being fired affer a 10 win season. These are the kind of awakenings this die hard Buc fan is ready for. An actual Professional football team in Tampa Bay. I know it’s going to be a shell shock for some currently skeptical fans. Believe in L&L.

Depth was one of the issues last year, also the starters were not that good, put it all together and that is what Buc fans have had to watch the last 5 years!

we had star players that (when healthy) could rival some of the better cores in the league…the first problem was about half of our “stars” failed to live up to their billing through injury\rehab and coaching. the second problem was once you got past that core of stars, there were more hopefuls and never-beens than there were solid veterans or role players

It’s funny how Shiano said we were just a few guys away from having a complet team. Then Lovie and Jason get a hold of it and completely dismantle it. I wonder how that makes Shiano feel? We will win more then 4 this season that is for sure.

Joe lovie would have gone 4 dash 12- Greg wasn’t bear Bryant but he wasn’t horrible- said all along in was dom- you still think that guy was good?

Might be wise to actually wait and see how the Bucs do before condemning Schiano or anointing Lovie. The Bucs could very easily go 4-12 with injuries to an O-line with very little depth let alone proven starters at all spots as well as a bunch of free agents who may or may not pan out. Lovie is a solid NFL coach but not elite…don’t expect miracles in year one

Lovie is ten times better of a coach than Schiano, and that’s just x’s and o’s. He took a team to the super bowl with Rex Freaking Grossman!!!! He should get a trophy just for that. What has Schiano ever done to even compare to Lovie??? Give me a break, you guys are idiots.

Here is the beauty of Lovie teaming with Tedford: while there will be a learning curve for the Offense we could still win ugly early because nobody knows what to expect with what Tedford has thought up in this past year so they can’t prepare for it. That is why Lovie won early his first year because nobody had film then on his OC. However film caught up by the middle of the first year and the losses started. By the time film catches up with Tedford his Offense will be jelling together, especially with Veteran McCown calling audibles in an up tempo offense and throwing accurate passes, and Tedford will keep putting in new wrinkles and will make good changes at halftime! And with Tedford rotating RBs to keep fresh legs in there (what a revolutionary idea to the Schiano lovers) we should have good yards on the ground and a balanced offense this year. Licht is capable of finding good young backups for depth and Lovie’s excellent coaches can prepare them a lot better than Schiano’s amateur coaches. Think last year’s KC–Lovie will be a winner this year. Whether he can keep it going is if he takes a QB at 7. That will be the early litmus test because Licht will want to find another Brady late in the draft that has not worked for him in the past since, hence his moving from team to team like a nomad. It will take Lovie to insist on this so Licht can stay a Buc’s GM the rest of his career too and not resume his nomadic ways.
