Cops Receiving “Conflicting” Information

[UPDATE: 10:20 p.m. Per WFLA-TV’s Candace McCowan, Bucs wide receiver Mike Williams has been discharged from the hospital.]

It may be a while before Bucs fans find out exactly what happened when Bucs receiver Mike Williams was stabbed in the thigh in his own home this afternoon. Initially, it was believed Williams was stabbed by his brother.

But after interviewing witnesses and trying to reach Williams’ brother, who remains on the run from authorities, it seems there is not a clear picture of what happened in Williams’ posh Avila home, per Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.

Deputies were called to Williams’ home in the gated Avila community at about 5 p.m. Sunday in response to what they were told was a stabbing, Hillsborough County spokesperson Cristal Bermuda Nunez said.

When deputies arrived at his home, they learned Williams had been stabbed in the thigh, but interviews with several witnesses conflicted.

Joe is going to reserve judgement until all the details are known. If, indeed, Williams was stabbed by his brother at home, it’s hard to give Williams too much grief. What, is he supposed to live with priests in a rectory? The dude was at home. The best way to avoid trouble is at home.

Williams, as of this typing, remains in St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa recovering from his wounds.

Depends on who you invite into your home.

    Hmmmm this sounds familiar.

  5. Patrick Says:

Doesn’t Gruden also have a home in Avila?

“The best way to avoid trouble is at home.”

But Joe what if home is where the trouble is at?

  7. WalkdaPlank Says:

@The Real Drew – his BROTHER? lol

  8. Jim Says:

    Bye bye mike

  9. kh Says:

Just a few weeks ago Licht was on with the Big Dog talking about how he hadn’t seen Mike’s name in any headlines lately so that was good. I’d be willing to bet Licht and Lovie won’t have the same reservations about giving Williams too much grief.

  10. Shawnbucfan Says:

Hopefully George Harrison makes a full recovery .

  11. Mr. Patrick Says:

If he has a bunch of thugs, rappers and hip hoppers living there with him, then home is where the trouble is

  12. Architek Says:

He’s done. Telling you all don’t get attached, I don’t care what joe or Deumig says.

  13. Eric Says:

    Hmmmm conflicting stories.

    This could get more bizarre.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

    Thug life ain’t easy.

  15. Architek Says:

It’s just not worth the headache anymore!

  16. GlenninGrad Says:

@Architek I’d rather a few mild headaches now then full blown migraines every football Sunday. Unless they concoct a plan to replace him and Tiquan then keep him if he can play.

  17. passthebuc Says:

Holmes and Watson seen exiting the Delta terminal and hailing a taxi for 1 buck place

  18. WalkdaPlank Says:

A headache? Him getting stabbed and throwing parties is a headache? Talib was a headache. Tanard Jackson was a headache. Has Williams been suspended? Arrested? Caught blazing it up or drinking and driving? He more than makes up for his party stuff by making amazing and clutch catches on Sunday.

  19. Patrick Says:

@Shawnbucfan…….George Harrison is no longer with us; have some respect.

  20. passthebuc Says:

Call Zuttah, see if he can get you an interview in Baltimore. Williams actions would go unnoticed in city of Baltimore.

  21. JBuc Says:

Walkdaplank, where are all these amazing and clutch catches you speak of? He’s the the 4th best 2 WR in our division. When you are trying to rebuild a 4-12 football team then the jackass that can’t stay out of the news is a headache.

  22. passthebuc Says:

All kidding aside, we need to have the whole story before a judgement is made. Then again, who are we to make a judgement.

  23. Ghost Says:

It’s probably a safe bet his days are numbered @ this point.
Let him be someone else’s grief.

  24. Mumbles Says:

    Uh, what had happened wuz….

  25. WalkdaPlank Says:

I take it you haven’t watched the Bucs offense the past few years. From his first TD catch, to catching a pass off Stanford Routt’s helmet and running it to the endzone, to making a toe-touch back of the endzone catch against the Vikes, to making a spectacular late game tying TD catch in the Giants game, to making a clutch would-be GW TD catch against the Saints that got called back because of a dumb rule. The list goes on brother. Receivers like that don’t grow on trees. And get “can’t stay out of the news” garbage outta here. It’s not like he is your everyday 8 ‘o clock story on Good Day Tampa Bay.

Again, never arrested, suspended, gun-toting, caught blazing it up or drinking and driving.

  26. Architek Says:

Guys we have lowered our standards too far! No he’s not guilty but we just heard our GM reference him not being in the news – based on their track record to date is no nonsense.

Dungy and the Bucs legends would’ve never tolerated this. Trouble and noise finds this guys. I wish him the best just in another city.

Don’t go talking about how good he is…he’s a dime a dozen WR.

  27. JBuc Says:

He’s had two decent years and does make the occasional great catch. However, has a tough time getting open and doesn’t scare anyone. If he is such a great talent than ask yourself why would a lousy Syracuse team kick him off the team and why is he likely to get cut by the Bucs. Again, he is not worth the pain in the ass. Move on to someone interested in winning ball games.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

I know he dropped a lot of balls early in the 2013 season before he got injured. I know this because I cursed his name a lot during the first 4 games of this past season.

  29. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    JBuc Says
“He’s had two decent years and does make the occasional great catch. However, has a tough time getting open…”

Perhaps that was because no WR can stay open in the 5 minutes that Mike Glennon takes to throw the ball.

    Buc1987 Says
“I know he dropped a lot of balls early in the 2013 season…”

    Josh Freeman. ‘Nuff said.

  30. sho nuff Says:

ahhh….another rock from the pop star regime…is it me or did he pull some of the dumbest players in the league….

  31. Thomas Says:

    Trade bait.

    He’s outta here!

Maybe we will be able to get another pic for 2015? lol. Seriously though, i’m sure there is a team out there willing to take him on and take whatever empty reassurances he may give them that he will be a model citizen.

QB, WR, WR in rounds 1-3. Far fetched? Unlikely…

  32. BoJim Says:

“He didn’t choose the Thug life. The Thug life chose him”.

Hope he stays with us. I think he’s a pretty damn good receiver.
