Dream Likes McCown’s Confidence

May 18th, 2009

It’s pretty clear Raheem the Dream wants competition at quarterback, hence the phrase “One bone, five dogs.” It also appears, if Dan Parr of ProFootballWeekly.com is accurate, that one element Raheem the Dream covets is confidence.

If that is the case, Luke McCown is the leader for the quarterback race Parr suggests.

It was well-known that Buccaneers QB Luke McCown didn’t lack confidence, and he emphasized that point at the team’s voluntary workouts Tuesday, telling reporters that the starting job was his to lose, even though he’s competing with Byron Leftwich and rookie Josh Freeman for the role. That kind of authoritative, self-assured talk is sure to sit well with new head coach Raheem Morris, who appreciates a certain swagger and confidence, having quite a bit of it himself.

While confidence is nice, it’s also bulls(p)it. Joe doesn’t give a damn about confidence. What Joe cares about are results. Once the results happen, confidence is a byproduct. Without results, confidence means nothing.
