Barron Should Be “Pissed” At Teammates

December 29th, 2013

Mark Barron is unhappy with fans

Here’s a good one: Mark Barron Twittered that he’s “pissed” at Bucs fans for not helping launch Lavonte David into the Pro Bowl with their votes.

Joe finds this funny considering Barron and his teammates did little to help the effort.

Barron’s fingers typed this Friday night:
@M_B_24 – I’m real deal pissed at some our fans for not getting @NewEra_54 into the pro bowl. Thts BS

And then came the backlash, which drew more Barron commentary, including him acknowledging that he knows the fan vote is only one-third of the process.

@M_B_24 – If u did yr part thn u should feel no need to comment. … For those who feel like I’m callin put whol fan base… I’m not. Key word was SOME. And yes I’m very aware of how system works.

Barron should probably be more “pissed” at his teammates. Take Dashon Goldson and Darrelle Revis, for example, guys with Twitter followings of roughly 1.4 million combined. Did they lobby hard for votes for their guy Lavonte on Twitter? Those are teammates with serious pull.

Gerald McCoy Twittered about how he wished he could give his Pro Bowl berth to David, but did McCoy run any kind of get-out-the-vote effort? A look at Barron’s Twitter timeline shows he didn’t stand on any rooftop, either.

Greg Schiano preaches and teaches accountability. It’s a core belief of the New Schiano Order. Perhaps next time Barron wants to get something right, he’ll look in the mirror and look to his Bucs brothers to make it happen.

If players cared half as much about winning as they do the Faux Pro Bowl, this team might be half way decent!

Where there is smoke there is fire with Shiano to Penn State

@MB24, grow the f*<k up son!

  4. Waterboy Says:

Lavonte David definitely should have made the Pro Bowl and a large part of the reason why he didn’t is because they didn’t win many games. WIN and you become relevant to the national media and recognized by more fans.

  5. Waterboy Says:

@Scotty in Fat Antonio, the Glazers are probably hoping he gets the job at Penn State so that he’ll quit and they won’t have to pay out his contract. I have mixed feelings towards him and can’t say that I’d be all that upset if he’s gone next season either.

  6. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

I am in the same boat and I think that is pretty telling when fans could care less one way or the other…ala pro and con with him staying or leaving as Joe so eloquently put in his articles earlier in the week.

  7. LUVMYBUCS Says:

No worries, he should be 1st team All-Pro. Richard Sherman went through the same thing in 2012.

  8. ElioT Says:

What a dumb a**! I’m pretty sure Bucs fans did their jobs and voted for LVD. You need the votes from the other teams fans to make it to the Pro Bowl and the fact is that nobody outside of the dedicated Bucs fans gives a sh*t about this team because they suck. Only the highest profile players have a shot on a horrible team and Lavonte’s highest profile moment of the year was the penalty against the Jets that cost them the game.

Barron needs to shut up and focus on winning a football game every once in a while and maybe the Bucs will send more guys to Hawaii.

  9. SeanyMac in SC Says:

I am also disappointed that LVD did not win a spot on the “popularity contest” Pro Bowl roster, and yes I did vote several times. IMHO, LVD and VJax are more deserving than Revis. The Pro Bowl is an unwatchable joke of a meaningless game anyway.

Joe, your spot on about his team mates not doing more to get the vote out for LVD.

All pro athletes need to think a long and hard before hitting that tweet button.

I’m kinda pissed Barron was picked that high mostly on The Crimson Tide overrated rep. Let’s call it even?

  11. Joe Says:

Seems like the fans did their part for LVD. No Bucs player had more votes from fans than LVD. Barron should be going after his fellow NFLPA members. We all know how likely that is. Pretty easy to blame fans.

Hey everyone just an fyi. I bought a David jersey and I thought I was on nflshop.com but later after the purchase realized it was nflshopofficial.com. I thought I was scammed out of money but the jersey did arrive. Problem is there’s no black stripe on the neck and the Nike logos on the sleeves are replaced with some stitching that I have no idea what it’s supposed to be.

  13. Bill T Says:

I wonder for the fans and press who don’t follow the Bucs much, how much the end of the Jets game was ingrained in their minds when it came time to vote?

  14. blackmagic00 Says:

You know if we had a better record more fans would stay interested in watching the games. That would lead to more fan voting.

  15. BucFanForever Says:

The article Joe linked to in the comments said LD54 came in 5th among outside linebackers in the fan vote. 6 outside linebackers made the pro bowl. David lost out thanks to the coaches and other players. It might be because the nfl types still hate the schiano bucs for the infamous kneel down play.

  16. PRBucFan Says:

I was commenting back and forth with him lol

He said he got it but apparantly he didn’t because LVD ended up 5th after fan voting was tallied.

Once the coaches/players votes were added on he fell off.

    They didn’t do their part

Shut the eff up and shut Jimmy Graham down.

Win a game, do your job, and then run your mouth.

I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I sat around this morning with my boy and we are just plain over it, we as a team have not been relevant since 2008. Think about that that was 6 seasons ago I was only 34 now im 40 and we have sucked, we continue to go to every game, spend money, for what to feel like trash. I really don’t think I can support this team anymore if big changes are not made, I went thru the 80’s as a kid and early 90’s going to games getting blown out, but at least then I had hope, I just am running out of it quickly, Schiano is a douche bag man.

  20. Destinjohnny Says:

    It’s lack of talent people

  21. TBLT Says:

I’m real deal pissed off with the play of a certain safety that was taken 7th overall in the draft and has yet to play like a first round pick let alone a top ten pick. STFU and WIN football games!!!!! Until you put a winning season together I don’t want to hear about the lack of fan support!!!!! STFU and WIN!!!!
