Bucs Knew Rams Would Pound Stacy

December 22nd, 2013

Darrelle Revis explains his disgust

You know, the thing that most depresses Joe about this ugly loss to the Rams was the Bucs defense knew exactly what Jeff Fisher and the Rams were going to try to do. They knew it was going to be Zac Stacy running the ball early, running the ball late, running the ball all the time, little to nothing else.

And still the Bucs couldn’t stop him. Sure, the Bucs slowed Stacy down in the second half, but too little and way too late.

Bucs stud cornerback Darrelle Revis told Joe after the game the Bucs were expecting Stacy to pound away at them.

“I am sure they had over 100 yards rushing,” Revis said. “I mean [Stacy] is a good back. Good, hard running back. He has the running style of Frank Gore. We knew this would be another game that our opponent was going to run the ball and we didn’t do a very good job. We made adjustments at halftime to stop him. He got hot early. We knew what type of game this was going to be. We knew the Rams were going to utilize him as much as possible.”

This is the most galling thing to Joe. An NFL team knew full well what was going to happen and still couldn’t stop Stacy.

Shoot, put nine guys in the box if you have to. Make Kellen Clemens and a bunch of no-name receivers beat you.

Stacey had about 3.1 avg running the football today. The defense wasn’t perfect BUT they played well enough to win this ball game. I don’t want another bad article about the defense letting us down Joe. The offense is the issue & has been since game one of the season. That game was sign of how the offense would hold us back all season. That day the defense also played well enough to win. The offense philosophy is HORRIBLE. We need more playmakers on offense from the WR position. I honestly think it has everything to do w/ the offensive philosophy, better plays, better play calls, just OFFENSE from top to bottom. I think if we had any kind of balance our line can do the job but when you know a team is going to try to run on 1st & 2nd down 80-85% of the time then of course your going to look terrible blocking!

    Made adjustments at half time?

I thought there was no time.

Spot on Joe. Let that “elite high paid” secondary cover man to man and load the box. This coaching staff continues to underachieve. Sick Of It.
