Jeff Fisher Takes Swipe At Bucs Coaches

Out in St. Louis, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher throws on a coat and tie and heads out to a local wing joint to do a regular radio show.
Jimminy Christmas! Imagine if Greg Schiano did such a thing during the Bucs’ first-half free fall. The wing joint would have needed security to calm the masses. Wings (hopefully boneless) would have been flying.
At Jeff Fisher’s most recent visit, Joe sensed arrogance directed at the New Schiano Order.
You can draw your own conclusions from the video below. Fisher is asked about what’s driven the Bucs’ turnaround and he includes in his take,” I think the coaching staff has adjusted to the talent that they have, you know, the type of athletes they have.”
Joe’s going to call that a swipe at the Bucs’ staff, especially when there haven’t been many, if any, adjustments to the Bucs’ approach. It’s been all about consistency.
Then, without being asked, Fisher quips at the end of his talk about the Bucs defense, “We’ll see how they are as far as stopping the run.”
Joe’s got nothing against Fisher, and Joe’s sure some readers will think this is nothing. But Joe can say with certainty that kind of comment about another team’s coaching staff doesn’t happen every day.
Joe does agree with Fisher, in the sense that Joe also wants to see the Bucs stop the run. That’s supposed to the hallmark of the New Schiano Order defense; stop the run first. The Rams have a bit of a makeshift offensive line. There’s no reason why the Bucs can’t line up and not let Zac Stacey run all over them. If the Bucs can make backup quarterback Kellen Clemens beat them, then they’ve got a solid shot at a win.

This is what I was talking about before. There is no story here. I watched it twice.
Please go interview Buc players and coaches and stop relying on what other people say during an interview which they got.

I know you have to pump out so many stories a day. But sometimes less is more.

Yeah, I don’t see anything as well. I think he just gave a standard generic answer to what he guesses might be the reason for the turnaround. I doubt he really knows or cares all the stuff that has gone down in Tampa. I bet he hasn’t seen one Tampa game until he put on the film this week.

It was pretty subtle but I agree Joe that is a slap at our run defense. But then again it looks like he’s just admitting that Clemens sucks. Thats a slap at his own QB.

Perhaps Coach Fischer was referring in his first comment to the adjustments necessary by the coaching staff when you lose so many key players to injured reserve? Far as the second goes: real good bulletin board material.

Clowney I totally agree with you. Schianos biggest issue is that when he installs a play or philosophy that just doesn’t work he refuses to change it. I.E. (not letting McCoy rush straight up the field, not letting Revis go one on one etc.) Thats what scares me, next year if he is head coach he is going to want to skip any quarterbacks in the draft because he has “his guy” who we all know is decent but certainly no world beater. If Schiano stays and does not draft a qb in the first or second rounds and does not bring in a decent veteran then both he and Dom need to hit the road.

If anything, I see it as more of a compliment to the coaching staff. Most people consider adapting your style to the talent you have as a good trait of a coach. The only coach who doesn’t feel that way just so happens to be our coach. Aren’t we lucky.

He may have even been speaking from his own experience.

lol talk about not using talent…….TAVON AUSTIN!! it took the rams over 10 games to figure out how to use him.
That was def a jab at the bucs run D. Which is odd, beacuse that is actually a strong point for the bucs. I think fischer is getting a little overly excited about the rams run game. The saints suck at stopping the run, so calm down jeff.

Fisher is a good coach, a proven winner, he had the Titans mostly playing well. The Rams are an up and coming team in a tough division, maybe the toughest. Schiano could only hope he had Fisher’s NFL experience.

I don’t see a college coach anymore. Schiano almost has 2 years under his belt. So I’ll call him an NFL coach. You can call him whatever you want of course.

With this much talent a college coach would start 0-8 in his 2 year in the NFL. We have yet to beat a good team. Detroit pretty much handed the game to us with interceptions thrown straight to us. We had 5 turnovers and almost lost the game.
@ Buc1987 – I respect your opinion but I have yet to be convince. It’s pretty sad when none of us can be sure we will win on Sunday. The rams are 6-8.

Well, Jeff Fisher sure adjusted to his talent, in terms of letting Zac Stacy eventually be the runner, instead of the no name draft pick they tried at the beginning of the season. & he still hasn’t adjusted Tavon Austin to any sort of true productivity.
Jeff Fisher doesn’t like the Bucs organization, as evidenced when he eliminated them quickly in his own personal coaching search.
& forgive me if thinking Jeff Fisher is a rich man’s Schiano. BEEN to a Super Bowl, hasn’t won jack squat. Immensely overrated, IMO.
& semi-disagree, Joe, about Schiano. Greg on the personal relation side seems to have changed (with the players), though that was probably always the plan (weed out the dolts with hard-assedness). That said, it seems there are a *few* less stunts, & Revis is in man more. The Revis thing I still think was almost justified because he was rounding into form, but the Clayborn speed rush sack against a very good tackle tells me he can be a middle ground between Rice & Spires at RE. & the fact that te’o still gets reps over Bowers is still an abomination, esp. in a lost season. Heck, I’m not sure Gholston is that much better than Bowers, yet he’s racking up the playing time, while Bowers gets dribbles & drabs.
Finally, after hearing the Schiano horror stories of the way he treated NFL personnel while at Rutgers, is it any wonder most of the establishment coaches are reveling in his non-success?

Why are we going through all of this drama year after year? Glazer’s, in a lot of ways you are great owners. But you need to step up up and install a skilled NFL savvy football management and coaching team. Not the flavor of the month as determined by the sports media. How about start with a President of Football Operations,not as Head Coaches, someone like Bill Cohwer or or Brian Billick?? Rock Star would report to this person. Amy Trask, she understands this gig!

Our coaches are doing better the problem is we have no talent on our offense. Our second receiver is Underwood. He’s a nice guy but football player not so much. Glennon will be a great back up, but come on man. It’s all on Vincent Jackson. That’s not to hard to game plan for.

Exactly Cpt Buc. Ive been see-sawing on Schiano as a coach but the one thing I keep coming back to is the awful injuries this year. That could completely change the landscape of any team. Case in point: Aaron Rogers. Packers are weak without him. Bottom line is I think Schiano gets 1 more year but he better field a competitive team.

Dallas, don’t be discouraged…you could be a Cowboy fan and watch Jerry, the old woman, tank the team every year…and he isn’t going anywhere. That would unhinge anyone’s sensibilities.
Fisher…what has he done in the last decade? I’d rather hear what “the cheat” or one of the “harbaugh boys” think.

Mark…yeah cowboy fan is some depressing lot! I just moved away from Dallas after many years having to listen to that whining fan base carry the burden of Americas team on their narrow shoulders as their ‘boys miss the playoffs year after year!
I will say one thing, that fan base is loyal and that whole community is very supportive. Wish I could say the same for my beloved bucs. I was at that SF game and nearly got shouted out of my section by niner fan. That shtt don’t happen in most other nfl cities.

Well if we win tomorrow maybe Schiano could do a Harbaugh-Schwartz type of end of game handshake to get even with the suspected swipe. If we pick up clowney and a good offensive lineman (or two) I will be happy. 17 million in cap room should get a decent veteran QB. Could be 1-2 years away from taking the NFC crown and making some noise in the playoffs.
