“Flash” now holds an NFL record
Joe is starting to run out of superlatives when discussing “Flash” Lavonte David. What cannot the man do? The second-year Bucs linebacker tackles, sacks quarterbacks, buries running backs in the end zone, picks passes off and drills people.
The guy damned near is the second coming of Derrick Brooks. He is virtually everywhere on the field.
It is getting to the point where Joe thinks he can catch passes out of a red zone offense. Why would that surprise anyone?
Well, with his two interceptions Sunday, David reached a feat that no other NFL linebacker has reached in recent decades. Since sacks began being charted as an official NFL stat, no NFL linebacker has recorded at least six sacks and five interceptions in the same season.
That’s what David has with three games to play.
In fact, there are but four NFL players to reach that mark, aside from David, the remaining three are all defensive backs, safety Dave Duerson (1986), safety Rodney Harrison (2000), and cornerback Shawn Springs (2004).
Joe pays scant attention to the Pro Bowl. He may pay more attention to the cheerleaders than whoever makes the game. But if David is not in the Pro Bowl this winter, then the exhibition is about as worthless as Myron Lewis.

LVD is living proof that you don’t necessarily have to pick high in the draft to pick a winner. Sure Luke Kuechly is a great player but considering where he was picked, LVD is a better value.

LVD is proof for fans that Coach Schiano has taken over draft picks for the Bucs. After 4 straight bust picks from the pop-star, it was a welcome change!

L.David was definitely the best LB of that draft
and maybe even the best defensive player in that draft.
Still would have loved to see

as the BUCS LB’s

I’d rather have Barron. We’re doing fine with Foster and at some point you have to pay all these guys. Barron is critical to the success of this defense, probably the key to it.

LVD is killing it. Pay the man!
And I hope we draft on the defensive side of the ball with our 1st rnd pick next year.. We have the core to have an extraordinary defense. If Glennon is not the answer at QB, make a bid for Rivers to reunite him with VJax. We do not need another 5 year project.

No defense unless its a “can’t miss guy”. The defense is pretty much set. We need points. Lead the league in turnovers but can’t capitalize. I would love to see us get a third receiving threat.

Pro-bowl??? LVD is 5th in the league for tackles tied for 2nd in interceptions and multiple sacks and a safety. I think he should be highly considered for defensive player of the year

This is why the draft status and perception of value means very little.
You can either play in this league or not. in hindsight, David should have been a top 15 overall pick. But he was not.

Yeah Joe, you need to stop pushing LVD for a pro bowl and start looking at the facts, there is no Run Away leader for Defensive Player of the year.. Maybe Watt, maybe Kuechly, maybe Sherman. But if u look at the stats and performances, LVD is doing better than all of them. If watt is in the discussion for DPOY with a bad team, then LVD(Flash) should be the #1 player in the running.

This read more option is not great. Maybe for the really long articles it makes sense but when you hit it for a small article(which most are here) you only get 1 or 2 paragraphs more. Doesn’t seem necessary to keep having to load page after page for just a a little bit more information. And now I can’t read Joebucsfan on the subway. I used to load the website before I went down to read on my commute. Can no longer do it. first world problems you know? haha
